Brooke Got Attacked by a Lobster! - Sailing Barbuda - Episode 25
There is A LOT going on in this episode. We sail to the northern tip of Barbuda to enjoy a little peace and quiet. On a calm day we explore the mangroves and one of the largest frigate bird sanctuaries in the world before heading into town to grab some groceries. After a couple days in Barbuda, we discover some problems with a bulkhead and de-stress on the most beautiful pink sand beach. And then.....Brooke sticks her finger some place it doesn't belong.
We really loved Barbuda and made some great memories here. So happy we can share them with you!
xo,
B&G

Here's a tip for you (and Yottis everywhere); Get a huge bottle of silicone / dielectric paste and coat everything electrical or electronic with it. Repeat at every refit or anytime you're digging into electronics. Also, coat your cell phone ports, computer ports, camera + GoPro batteries, remotes of any kind, simply everything electric or electronic. It significantly reduces the corrosion from salty and humid environments!

Ah interesting, great advice. Thanks for the tip! We will have to try that.
So glad I found you guys ,I'm tired of watching other channels always talking about boat repairs.

Thanks Darrell! We have boat repairs too, but try not to spend too much time talking about them. We prefer to do the fun stuff not sweaty boat chores. 😝
Google says, "Stingrays flip upside down because they have blind spots directly behind their eyes so they will sometimes flip over to see. Also some stingrays turn upside down, extend their pectoral fins, then curl their fins above the water, so they look like sharks".

Make sure that you take good care of your finger, I had something like it my finger was cut like yours and it got very painful, the nerve end are sensitive, it got so bad that I had to go to emergency room, and had to take pain medication to go to sleep, take care.

That was a big lobster that bit your finger. I bet that big lobster tastes good though. The beaches and blue water look beautiful. I saw some weather channel that Barbuda got hit with a hurricane in the last couple of days.

The lobster was big and tasty! Oh no, so sad to hear this about Barbuda. They had a devastating hurricane a few years ago that they are still trying to rebound from.

Yeah, I'm late ! Watched your Pacific crossing and decided to go to Episode 1 and now on 25, watching you eat the lobster that bit off your fingertip ! Ouch ! Your videos are sooooo good ! I miss all that stuff. I spent 20 in the Navy, Puget Sound, sailing my Catalina 30, changing out engine from 1 cylinder gas to 3 cylinder diesel. Then the small quirks that happened. Always inconvenient ! Ha I've dove in Puget Sound, Hood Canal, Hawaii, Phillipines and Thailand. I recommend the two latter. I was an engineer in the Navy, and still addicted to mechanical diddling in spare time. Yeah, I'm addicted to your videos and I'm jealous (haha) and even tho I don't know you, I'm happy for you two ! Living your dream on your terms. Dang............. I would highly recommend Thailand for the food, beaches, diving and cheap thrills. Not sure about the Rum, altho I could surely write a guide on dive bars in the Western Pacific ! Have fun you guys ! As we used to say in the Navy, Bravo Zulu to you both !

Hey there :) Wow, so cool that you decided to go back and watch from the beginning! We really appreciate that and hope you have noticed a difference in not only our editing but also in our abilities as sailors as well. We are happy to hear you are enjoying our channel and we look forward to sharing our future episodes with you. You have been to some amazing place that we also hope to get to one day. Haha same! I've also decided to watch from the start. I've traded the Netherlands for the Mediterranean a few months ago, but while living 'land life' I'm currently looking for the perfect sailboat to live on with my two kids. Would be so cool to sail with them to some of the amazing places you guys have been.🤍
Dang, that lobster bite was amazing! Learn something new all the time. Note to self: even lobsters without claws can getcha. Btw, you guys rock the fishing. I’ve seen lots of other sailing KZreadrs try to catch their dinner and no one has results like you guys. And I just looked at the fishing regulations for our nearby lake and they allow spear fishing. I think I may have a new hobby.

@@SailingOneLife It's a 1981 US Yacht 35 cockpit sailboat. One of ten hulls made it into production in 1981 due to a fire that burnt the plant down. They were sent to Bayliner to be built. They are modeled after the Cooper353"s. Very cool pocket cruiser. Cool. I am probably a month from leaving Texas. Let me know if you need anything from the states before I leave? (443)515-8882
Does that chain plate have anything other than the stay connected to it? If there is load in a second direction from anything else attached to it? The force in a second direction weakens and loosens the plate and it's seal to keep water out. You're wise to take that corrosion seriously. Of course that plate is probably not alone in needing attention given the age of the vessel.
@SailingOneLife
Жыл бұрын
No, nothing else is connected to the chainplate. The leaking bolts were just in need of rebedding as it probably was done 15+ years ago. The moisture in the bulkhead we found was actually from an old wire-pass through that was poorly sealed. 🤦♂️
