LeBron James announced that he will play with his son Bronny no matter what. Whichever team drafts Bronny in 2024 will also get LeBron James. This wasn't a huge surprise but it did tell us two things about LeBron's career we didn't know before.

Bronny is quite far down in the mock drafts so he could end up anywhere. A top team could honestly draft him as a tool to get lebron to sign with them. Especially teams without cap space as lebron very well could sign a deal worth little to nothing to play alongside his son

He’s probably discussed this with Brony before. This seems more like a joint agreement then a one man decision, but that’s not to say Brony didn’t just agree to this out of fear of disappointing Lebron. I feel like being on a team with Lebron would be like the equivalent of having your coach be your dad, a double edged sword. And that’s if he even wants to peruse basketball seriously…

Why would they want to bring the LBJ circus to town and risk blowing up their future? If they get Bronny, let him play with LBJ for one year at a vet minimum, let him do his goodbye tour as a Cav, make a TON of money from merch and tix sales and once he retires, send Bronny to the G league or trade him.

Hot take: What if we're looking at this wrong? LeBron said "My last year will be played with my son..." What if he retires temporarily to take a sabbatical at some point in the coming years - the same way MJ first retired for his baseball career - and then comes back once Bronny is in the league? This would give him additional time to rest/prepare his body while Bronny grows into an NBA-worthy talent, and this way he could wait for a situation where they could package them to a team more easily? (I realize this take is certifiably insane but Simmons' point on his recent podcast episode about Bronny needing at least a year or two in college got me thinking...)

We all know this is him ensuring that his son gets drafted, and at least gets a chance to succeed in the NBA. Like a good father would do.

You said it yourself, G-league. Why would Bronny stay in university when he could get his development from NBA trainers? If he sucks that badly then G league development is still miles ahead of university basketball. No offense to Bronny, but he's been groomed to be a NBA player not an academic. If he had other options then sure, stay in school, develop your game, graduate with your degree. That's not Bronny. The way this works, if he's drafted early then he's going to get his MILLIONS for a single season of basket ball. LeBron will have set his kid up for life. Also, Bronny shouldn't care what LeBron does. He may legitimately not get drafted. SHAQ's kid, MJ's kids, all D1 and undrafted/won't be drafted. If Bronny wants to differentiate himself from his father, then he needs to prove himself after LeBron leaves. You need to pull some Luka shit, some LeBron shit, some Charles Barkley shit. He needs to lead the team after his rookie year. Otherwise he should keep his mouth shut, be a role player, get paid, then leave the NBA quietly.

What if the Westbrook trade and signing a squad full of 1 year vet minimum players is a strategy to get Bronny? Tank this year and next year so LA will be in position to get a high draft pick then draft Bronny. A roster can't compete for a championship when you need to sign 9 players in free agency and you know LA will make at least 1 trade in the off season. LA will get rid of Russ which will cost them Nunn, Johnson, and THT, but LA will get at least 1 2024 draft pick.

I feel like Lebron shouldn't play with Bronny. It just seems like the dad that comes to the playground and says "My son and I wanna ball can we?" and then the son is like "Dad you're embarrassing me, you're being weird." I feel like if it happens it would be that but on the NBA stage.

What if he plays multiple seasons with his son? Him saying his last year will be with his son doesn’t mean he won’t play seasons before his last season with his son.
