Bromsgrove and its Poets | Film 1

A short film about famous poets from Bromsgrove, made by Maz Salmou and with a script by Kate Shaw, it features the work of four poets.
A.E Housman, the renowned author of A Shropshire Lad, whose statue looks down the High Street.
Geoffrey Hill, born in 1932 who went to Bromsgrove County High School and became Professor of Poetry at Oxford University.
Molly Holden who came to Bromsgrove in the 1950s and whose poetry was popular in the 60s and 70s.
Sally Purcell who also went to the County High School. She was a serious poet who established a strong reputation in Oxford before she died at an early age in 1998.
The film was initiated by Stewart Sanderson, an Arts Officer for Bromsgrove and Redditch Council and helped by Margaret Evans representing [BRWR] and Kate Shaw of WORDS. The film was sponsored by Bromsgrove District Council, WORDS, The Housman Society, The Bromsgrove Arts Association, and The Bromsgrove Society as well as individual donations.
There will be a follow-up film of current young poets on the theme of Bromsgrove.
