Honestly I think something people don't talk about enough is how Cheelai gives us the idea that not all of the Frieza Force members are just "the bad guys" or "Frieza's cronies". Akira came up with the idea that possibly a lot of Frieza force members, like Cheelai, are not all professional mercenaries or evil-doers willing to work for other evil-doers, but also people just looking for work in order to get by.

Ironically both versions of the character were good. One was the representation of how dangerous the Saiyans could be, while the other is what he could’ve been if he were surrounded by good friends to balance out his savage nature (even probably falling in love) and was capable of being reformed (which he did). Both had the typical Saipan qualities, but Z Brody was about the bloodlust and insatiable thirst for violence, while Super Broly was about the capacity for honor and compassion a Saiyan could posses if he were surrounded by real friends, giving him a reason to fight.

He's a Saiyan version of a demon. He loses control and releases pent up rage, but his waking consciousness doesn't have the natural lust for battle that other Saiyans have. He is just a wild man who needs a helper to understand the modern world. It makes me wonder. Is it necessary for Saiyans to remove their tail to achieve the super saiyan form? Was there some ancient ritual that unlocked that form like the Super Saiyan God form?

This Broly is the ultimate foil to Goku. Both are particularly powerful Saiyans that had their lives torn apart at a young age and forged their own paths while learning how to break their limits along the way. The difference is Goku had a proper support circle and learned how to control his abilities while Broly was treated like in animal and literally didn't know his own strength until it was too late.

MultiDarkZen Broly had full lines of dialogue and somewhat of a personality in the original movie. He actually has more lines than Broly DBS Broly does in this movie. DBS Broly is such an amazing character not only because of his strength but also because he goes against some things that were stablished in the old canon of DB like the fact that Saiyans are naturally attracted to strong females, if it's the case that we can have an official answer from Toriyama about Broly and Cheelai being together maybe not as a couple but at least as really close friends (tbh it's really hard to picture this Broly in a relationship even if Cheelai is the one guiding him trought it)

Can I just point out real quick that Peragus, despite the hate he gets in the show, is likely the reason why Broly is as he is. The shock collar was a tool for Peragus to control him, but at the same time, the shock collar also kept Broly from going Beserk many many times.

Frankly, I liked the original one better. The "mind-control crown" may sound more fucked up, but at least it didn't seem to hurt Broly too much. _At least, until he went berserk and wanted to be free just to whoop everyone's ass, _*_Goku's in particular._*

I think that raising Broly would be an insurmountable task for just about anyone, and Paragus was absolutely not prepared for it. He was terrified of his son, especially given Planet Vegeta had just been destroyed, so I can see why he'd be so quick to the trigger with keeping him on a leash. It still really fucked Broly up, though, and having people like Cheelai and Goku around him now will help him unlearn so many of the traits his dad instilled in him.

She reminds me of Bulma minus all the yelling and hitting. A chilled-out version of her

We'll get a better idea when New!Broly is added to FighterZ, but honestly he shouldn't have been fired in the first place. Innocent until proven guilty, if they were worried about PR they should've suspended him until the situation became clearer. As it stands now, the allegations being false is becoming increasingly likely.

Thus I've come up with a fan/conspiracy theory that her father made clones of her and they're scattered across the world. Seriously, the opening for this was just like a legit scifi movie. If Toei actually put effort they could do a space adventure with Broly and his 2 new friends. Cheelai is literally a new young Bulma and Frieza Army could be just the galactic Red Ribbon Army they have to dodge while they go on wacky adventures/ Cowboy Bepop it up. Broly's main goal is that yeah he's super strong, but he has no control over it so the main story for him is to come into control.

@nintendoluigi It wasn't just the "oh $h!t" factor that made the original Broly work. Like you mentioned, he was also sadistic, which in the first Broly film resulted in some interesting and quotable lines that illustrated his sadism. Like when he asked if "Handicap was another word for 'coffin," or when he sarcastically asked the Samoshins is he blew up their planet before laughing maniacally. Hell as much as I enjoy Second Coming and Bio-Broly, I'd argue that they don't hold a candle to his debut film. Mainly because it's as if Toei's writers didn't get what made Broly work, assuming that fans only liked him for his power when in actuality it was the combination of his power and sadistic personality.
