Description: Hey guys, I recently repaired my Porsche 944 odometer cluster from not working. Mine had just gotten stripped over time and this video goes in detail to show the entire removal and reinstall process as well as swapping out fresh bulbs or LEDs into your old dash clusters to brighten them up. Mine were also dimming :/. I figured this would help as i couldn't find any videos of this being done on earlier 944's from 1985.1 and older

Due to the inner circumference issue I had id recommend trying a different source but im now realizing most of the vendors are also using odometer gears for the m17 gear size so you may have to do the same thing but it only took a minute or two, just order an extra as a backup :)
Confirm your Odometer gear for your 944, mine as a US 1984 was a Porsche -US 944 M17 Odometer Gear

Thanks a million for making this video. Now we don't have to be so afraid of going into unknown territory with our gauges, having had the luxury of observing you do the same fix. I'm so much more confident at replacing the clicking gear on my speedo now.

Great video! My odometer is working but I'm still tempted to switch out the gear as preventative maintenance, mostly I want to switch the dash light! They look awesome 👌

Thanks Pat! Id recommend leaving the gear until something does happen due to the process of cracking the mechanism out of its casing BUT the LEDs are super easy to swap out without getting too crazy. Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻
Great video, thank you! My odometer in my 924S went out some time ago, so I have been looking for a repair guide for some time. After watching I'm a bit less afraid from pulling everything out etc and will give it a go. :) Do you happen to know if there is any significant difference in the job between a 944 and 924S?

Do those chunky white lights on the far left gauge have to go into assigned spots? I just replaced all mine and none of them come on.
