Great trailside ingenuity! Not being a smart aleck here (believe me, I'm a newbie to UTV'S), but why not get a $24 scissor jack from Harbor Freight? They aren't very big or heavy and will stow away easily in your machine. I recently was on a ride with a guy in a really nice Can Am Maverick who flatted. He had a spare, but no jack! We had to do the Flintstone thing and a bunch of us pushed on the side of the machine until he could get enough rocks under the frame to pull the wheel off (didn't end up doing any good, as the spare was a different (older) hole pattern AND he didn't have a lug wrench. We had to jam enough tire plugs in the slash so he could limp back to town). Fun times, haha!

I appreciate you watching the video and I don’t mind answering any questions you might have. We are here to help anyway we can. The response will be lengthy but it’s just because I’m sharing my thought process behind the why we do things this way. At the end of the day my decision are made from my passed experiences and we only share them to hopefully help someone in the event they are trying to figure out what they want to bring on there machine. At the end of the day, there is limited space on all machines so each person has to decide which items is most important to bring with them. First off, thank you for commenting. I have a few reasons why I think a scissor Jack isn’t the best option for how we ride. 1st reason: I haven’t tested yet but I think a scissor Jack would have a tough time getting the height needed on our main machines we ride because of the wheel travel they both have. Our main machines are a Turbo S 4 & a Pro R… both have a lot of wheel travel. Even if it could have enough reach then I would have stability concerns because of the places we ride and the small foot print of a scissor Jack. I’m not saying it wouldn’t work, those are just concerns I would have using one on the side of a mountain trail. 2nd reason: limited storage space on both our main machines… when we ride we leave by 9am and don’t get back to camp until dinner. So we bring everything we need for food & drinks throughout the day. When accounting for enough water for 6 people, snacks for 4 kids, lunch for 6 people, tools, spare parts that could get us off a trail for 2 machines, tire kits, onboard compressor kits, spare water for if our main water runs out, all the camera equipment & drone box… our storage options get eliminated quickly. In 12 years of riding, this method has always got me out of a jam with broken shocks, busted wheels and punctured tires. We always have 2 or more winches within our group and we usually never ride alone with just one machine. We are filming in WV right now and had one of our worst day rides regarding tire issues I’ve had in a long time but still never got stranded once and had everything we needed to get us back on the trail. One of the tire issues was a rolled up factory steel wheel. That was a first for me but we figured it out with what we had. I’ll link a video below that I made of why we don’t carry a spare tire and what we bring in our tire repair kit. I hope all this information was helpful. If you have the space for a scissor jack and it gets tall enough to get your tire off the ground…. I say add it to your recovery gear. Out of all the rides riding, I’ve learned you can never have enough tools & gear on the trails.

@@trailkings Wow! Thanks for the great response. I'll definitely keep that in mind, as I'm just starting out. I have a little 50" RZR Trail, which I'm hoping the scissor jack will work ok for. It's only got 10" of clearance with 26" tires. Anyway, thanks again for the info!

Funny how guys are, the haves and have nots, you go for a ride things will break, tools, parts, gas and most important the knowledge of how it works, some go with nothing but a phone to call for help. Enjoy the trail guys.

Haha... tell that friend to winch it in tree. That will help get it off the group for easier time repairing it.... 😉
