One of my many great-aunts(I believe, I'm unsure of the exact family tree relationship) was a civil war nurse by the name of Bertha Bradley on my maternal grandmother's material grandmother's (Margaret Mostiller nee Bradley) side. Her picture was for a time on display at the Betsy Ross house in Philadelphia.
Nurses have come so far...but we continue to be the first eyes and ears, patient advocate and " healer" of the patient
The poet Walt Whitman was a volunteer nurse during the Civil War. So was the novelist Louisa May Alcott, although she served for only a few weeks before she got sick (with typhoid fever) and had to go home.
I love the actors, so natural.
Nurses are real-life Angels
I was becoming angry until Florence Nightingale's work in the Crimea War (1854-1856) was finally mentioned. Unfortunately she's fallen out of favor and her contributions to creating the profession of nursing have become trivialized. Not enough people know about how horrific and bloody the Crimean War was. Reading a great book about the role of women in the War, "No Place for Ladies". If anyone's interested in the topic, check it out. (I am not the author and have no relationship with her.)

maldenom Thank you for recommending the book, its sounds interesting. I'm a nurse and I've read about Florence but our history isn't talked about very much. I down loaded the book just before writing this.

Stop whining and become a vegan barista like all the other angry douchebags. The series is about the Civil War, you moron and you talk about Crimea? Are you high? And thank God that you waited until the video was finished. Oh, wait, what's this? You became angry in less than three minutes. What a lunatic piece of shit you are.

Looks like someone above me is full of sunshine and rainbows. Thank goodness they will never be a nurse 😉. Thanks for the recommendation. I am for sure going to read it since no history was taught in my nursing school.

1337fraggzb00N *Wow, you’re a real ray of sunshine... What makes you so bitter and angry? Sincerely asking because you sound completely miserable.* 🤦🏻♀️
So much for “Women’s work” as a male diminutive claim. Females cannot catch a break…but nonetheless they do…
