I see some things never change. When I first bought my T Max I literally drove it for less than five minutes before a spur gear striped out And then it was nothing but problems with both heads shock towers Ect… I spent hundreds of dollars upgrading thaings on that truck every time I went out somethings broke. Still feel burned by Traxxas. That’s why I don’t buy Traxxas products anymore.

But stock mesh should not be much tight, because of plastic barrier which keeping the motor in right distance.

Upgraded over priced metal shafts shafts for the hoss are still pot metal is broke two sets and bent the aluminum shock towers for the hoss so I went back to plastic Traxxas stuff always looks toy grade to me they definitely need to lower there prices for that I'd rather have s cheaper armma and put on the upgrades. But great video!

It's a REAL problem when you DON'T combine the Motor Mount AND the Center Diff Mount into the same piece 😳💀☠️ That combined with Monkey Metal typical to stock traxxas JUST EMBARRASSING.... Come on Traxxas! This is known crap Pot Metal that has had exploded on the Xmaxx for years and they refuse to fix the issue for the sake of Saving Money! I love my XMaxx and Maxx but it's a shame these issues are just tolerated and excuses give. One word.... Lazyness😔 It's cool M2C will fix it. I would say one word....GREED. Traxxas has always put its profit margin in front of performance. Their tires suck, their servos suck, and their ESCs suck. I won't buy their cheap, overpriced junk, and their business model sucks too. Stellar vids tho! Keep up the great work!

It seems like the higher end traxxas you buy, the worse the drivetrain you get. Never had issues with the e revo or trx4 (should be a given on a crawler though)

@@pcgamerracing5539 I’d highly suggest a trx-4 I love that thing and it’s foolproof. E revo takes some TLC and ~$30 in upgrades but mines a beast, haven’t had a drivetrain issue in I’d say 100+ packs

I was thinking about purchasing a sledge but this video makes me want change my mind how the gears stripped so easily

Driver Error. You landed on power. I’ve never seen an RC truck that can handle that for very long. Also, if your motor mount was loose it could’ve screwed up your mesh which would also cause that. I’ll give you some credit though, the gears should have held up a little better.

If you watch the video again he still has power after he lands. It’s when the front tires hit the fence the second time with power applied that breaks the gears

looks like its a quality control issue to me.. same thing happened to my new outcast 6s exb ,after a 5 minute light bash.. spur gear came loose..

Keep in mind that you were on Full throttle when you landed. That's brutal stress on the drive terrain. but it did seem to shred the gears alot more than usual. I would expect a couple teeth missing but that was a bit extreme.

First bash with my maxx v2 out of the box 2 days ago, completely shattered the bulkhead, and the bottom skid plate, and an arm.

WOW THUNDER⚡️⚡️, that's too bad about the spur and pinion gears ⚙️ ⚙️. Hasn't happened to my moded XMAXX yet, lol. I upgraded my gears when it was still new. All the original gears are spares ONLY, 🤣 KEEP ON BASHING, OR RACEING! FROM BARRIE ONTARIO CANADA PS,your bud is a good driver 👍

My tire glue on the Sledge came undone on the second lipo pack.

Yeah that metal looks like crap. Are you sure that the motor mount is not shifting around? Is the motor mount made out of metal BTW? I don't trust plastic spur gear covers either. That's why I changed my V2 Maxx to metal spur gear cover and motor mount. The plastic stuff for that is a no go for big jumps and crashes.

Might as well put a composite crown like on the Maxx it would cost less to replace! 💥🛠️ Xmaxx and Maxx have the slipper without cashing some of the constraints on hazardous receptions with the gases unlike the Sledge which is in direct drive. Otherwise it was great your skate park session well done guys it was clinical 💯☠️⚡

I've watched a bunch of Sledge bashing videos, and this is the first one to eat the gears. If available, I would try another set from Traxxas to see if it's a fluke.

Hey, instead of wasting ur money on TRX replacement parts or waiting for the aftermarket, why don't you grab a Tekno or Robinson pinion, an Arrma or Team Corally center diff(complete)and drop those into the sludge? I will bet money that one of the center diffs out of a Arrma,TC,or Tekno will drop right into the sludge..problem solved. #Thunder RC!! #Keepin' it real!!

The 20 million K oil in center diff lock the and it certainly not help on hard landing.

Guess you can break a sledge. Xmaxx has the same issue.

You think the mesh might of been too tight? That sucks ,at least you'll be able to call Traxxas and get new parts set out ASAP! Yeah I'm not a fan of that motor cage. Hobao is famous for that type of motor mount, it really sucks! Nice video though 👌 💯

If anything it was too loose. It has a composite block on the chassis that prevents the pinion from getting too close to the spur.

@@jonvoogd511 yeah? Does the block have the same number as the pinion teeth? If not it won't mesh correctly. If it is the same..all I gotta say is wow. $800 is alot to have those kind of qc problems. The mounting system is supposed to be brain dead. Pick a pinion gear, pick a pinion gear block of the same number, push the motor up tight and go. But the more I watch the more it looks like the only thing that's brain dead is the assembly line at the Traxxas factory.

It’s insane that Traxxas is able to keep selling $900 RC cars that break within the first several outings. I’ve been wanting to get back into RC cars but I remember how I spent more time repairing my nitro Rustler and then T-Maxx. After 20 years though they still have major reliability issues. Obviously people are willing to pay well over $1k something that is hard to break. Look at what people are spending on upgrades. How many more decades will it take for a manufacturer produce a Ready to Run RC Car that doesn’t have blaring weak links in its durability???

That was a pretty rough landing. Let's break it down. Front wheels touched down and went full stop due to the nasty angle. Throttle was up and sent everything the motor had to that center diff. In my opinion, if there was less viscous fluid in that diff, it would have sent the energy to the unloaded rear tires and saved the gears. Instead, it ate them for lunch. One example why 20mil weight in the center diff may not be the best for monkey metal spurs lol.

Such a disappointment! Hope u can get it fixed soon and up n running 🏃‍♀️

What exactly is that metal that have plagued rc cars since evolution from nylon? All the metal gears in the industry use that same stuff. Nice to see some nitro action also 👍
