Treat every person like they are the best, most important person in the world. Check your ego and understand that you aren’t that important (self-included). But the people you come across are.
One of my favorite quotes comes from John F. Kennedy. He was talking about America and how we, as a people, were going down a path he saw as unbecoming of what a true American should be. It goes like this: “Ask not what your country can do for you-ask what you can do for your country.”
I have applied this quote to life in general, and it has opened up so many doors for me. Do you know, when I was still a youngster in my early 20s, I was offering massages for free? Fresh out of Massage Therapy school, my colleagues thought I was crazy. Well, I just knew I had great skills because, in our 26-student class, when it was time to practice on each other, everyone always wanted me as a partner. Guess what offering free massages did for me? It helped build my clientele quickly. Not only that, but they became loyal, weekly customers who gave generous tips. Meanwhile, my colleagues were stuck working somewhere like Massage Envy or some other corporate chain where the company took 40 to 50% of what they made.
I tell you all this because life has taught me that your character matters more than the service you provide. Your relationships will take you further than money ever will. That’s why athletes go broke, rappers are in debt, and celebrities end up in rehab. They focused on the money, and it led them to relationships that wanted nothing but their money
God has taught me to seek Him first in all things. He will bless you with the Spirit of Discernment and lead you straight into the arms of the people that will provide the love, trust, and companionship we all need. And oh yeah, the money will come. God’s provision; He always provides for it’s been written… Philippians 4:19. It says:
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
