It is never fun to have a breakdown but at least you have great people working with you to help fix it. Surprising that ASV has such a vulnerable connection.

  • @JHruby

Every piece of equipment has vulnerable pieces if you hit them just right. You can't shield everything from every direction. Doing dirt work you could go a million hours and never break that fitting but do forestry work and a branch will find a way.

Hi Jon, that's bad luck with your breakdown and it's always the hardest to get to. With the terrain you are working I guess this is a common hazard. If I know you Jon, you will be up and running in no time. Keep them coming love em.

Sorry to hear of your mishap. My friends in the landscaping business who own ASV 135s tell me they have significant undercarriage problems and blame them on the Yanmar buyout. As one says, “It’s no longer American made.” Thank God, he says, he also has a Cat with a Fecon mulcher. Never a problem with that. ASV owes you a free repair. If they had been designed better, Willie wouldn’t be using otherwise valuable time messing around fixing the thing. May you, Josh, Willie and your families have a healthy and Happy New Year. Continued good fortune and may God continue to smile on you. Three more deserving people I cannot think of.

Let's hope that's that 2023 is so much better for you, a Happy New Year to everyone at Upstate and their families and friends.

Work at part was having to work in the oil slick but wasn’t to bad. I do favor working on our ASV rt120 over other brands. Much more open for access and love the higher ground clearance so u can crawl under without a jack.

@@CrookedlegGregI seriously do not understand it. It defies anything remotely resembling logic, reason, common sense or the slightest regard for other people. There is a dog in my neighborhood (on the other side from me thank goodness) that has been barking more or less continuously for about the past four years! You'd think that either the stupid friggin' dog would eventually realize that barking isn't accomplishing anything or that the owner would notice and stop it, but I guess coherent thoughts just completely elude them both.

Being a relatively new to heavy duty mechanics but not being a mechanic I’ve noticed they print these crazy bevels kits on but realistically for what catches the eye but don’t really do a good job of protecting these integral drive lines i mean weather it John cat or kubota or asv I’m surprised they don’t put a steel spring on it or something on these lines to give them a little more dented deterrence I know caterpillar had fixed drive line plates that holds the lines in place and hides the ends of the fittings but this is a common occurance it seems s there trying to think of ways to deter it but don’t have a proper soloution

Especially on longer/in distance work. With heavier trees? And yes. I realise equipment costs money. But my take is that the time gained will be advantageous in the long run?

ASV are more or less made for Mulching primarily, plus they have the highest HP of them all. As far as I know ASV, Cat, and believe it or not, Kubota are the top 3 for this kind of job. Things like hydraulic coolers and such that are standard on ASV forestry machines are a 5k+ add on for machines like John Deere and they usually sit on top of the cab. Bad thing about ASV is if it breaks down you have to find a way to get it to them because they don’t have service crews that will come out. This is coming from someone who lives in Oklahoma. Idk about other states as far as service goes.

Huydrlic hoses on the outside of the frame and let alone on the bottom of the machine, No thanks not for me. My opinion is, it's a very poor design . I just find it amazing that there engineering department can build and design something with this little though. Common sense ASV it's a machine that's suppose to be in the woods and mud all day.

A Danger Terrain have much slope and hole. A good Machine, but in real facts, the to underpin, the Hydraulic and the Cable have to little mudguard. A Workday wath not good! (💩) Nevertheless greeting and a Happy New Year 2023.. 🍀🍄🐖🐞🎉🍀

The more I see of them, I’m glad I didn’t go with the ASV.

Dude I went to the local spot in Houston to price this unit they quoted me $149,000 without the mulcher then another 50 grand for the mulcher. WTF? So my plan B is to go by a Kioti 7320 with the closed cab, crank up the hydraulic pressure and let it rip. It's not necessary to have a zero turn capacity, and I can do other things with the tractor. What they are trying to change me in Houston is insane as far as I am concerned. The Kioti has skid mount attachments. I my view I can do the same thing for half the price that ASV is charging.

Great video fellas. You must be paying your guys well cause I saw the waist band of Willy’s underwear said adidas. I can only afford ftl or Hanes for my boys.

My boys have greasy hands. So I’m guessing they don’t use the fly as intended and use the waistband ,thus the grease. This is why I keep packages for each in the laundry room and if one is nasty it gets thrown out and a new pair enters the cycle. Mom work.
