Broadway's In The Heights Parodies Les Miserables' "One Day More"

Take a trip to Washington Heights with this Easter Bonnet Competition performance by the mega-talented Broadway cast. "Una Dia Mas" - a beat dropping, salsa-infused parody of "One Day More" from #LesMiserables - is complete with a rap from Lin-Manuel Miranda and the buttery tones of Christopher Jackson, Javier Muñoz, Karen Olivo and more.
Thanks to the efforts of 53 participating Broadway, Off-Broadway, and National Touring companies, the 22nd Annual Easter Bonnet Competition, presented at The Minskoff Theatre on Monday, April 28 and Tuesday, April 29 raised a record-breaking $3,734,129 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
The Easter Bonnet Competition is the culmination of six intensive weeks of fundraising efforts by Broadway and Off-Broadway company members, as well as numerous productions currently on national tour. Curtain speeches, autographed poster and program sales, auctions, and cabaret performances bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars from audiences prior to the competition. The winner of the competition is determined to be the company which raises the largest amount of money for BC/EFA. A second award is granted to the company with the best bonnet design and presentation. Awards are also presented to the Broadway Play, National Tour and Off-Broadway productions raising the most money for Broadway Cares.

@@spaceace2.03 In the 2021 Theatrical release he plays the bartender at the nightclub. Usnavi and Benny interact with him, while Vanessa is off with her female friend. Just before the dance scene and the blackout.

When LMM appeared on Carpool Karaoke in 2016 with Audra McDonald and a few others, he kept screaming “What” when the group sang “One Day More” at the end of the segment, and I remember wondering at the time why he was doing that. Now it all makes sense.

The critic for NYT was trying to criticize the show for lacking significant drama in the story, and wound up calling it a, “salsa flavored soap opera.” So, this parody is basically a reimagining of In The Heights with the stakes of Les Mis and ramping up the stereotypes like the burritos, etc.

How is he underrated? He's done 7 Broadway musicals. He's a Tony nominee (who only lost to Leslie Odom Jr) & he's got Emmy & Grammys, among other awards.

@@firekrys , agreed, but this video is from the 22nd Annual Easter Bonnet Competition (per notes in the doobley-doo), which was held in 2008 (per broadwaycares.org) so well before Hamilton. (Look at Chris Jackson ... that was my first clue it wasn’t from any time recently.)
