Brittons Hill: 10 Years After The Arch Cot Cave-in

The Barbados Government Information Service revisited the area recently to find out how the community was coping ten years after the tragedy.

The fire department didn't have the equipment to rescue the victims. Many people could have been saved.

Hello... I worked for Capital Signal in Barbados when this awful event happened. We had the longest reach excavator on island and offered our services for recovery. The heavy equipment on the site was ours. As someone who stood on that site, I assure you no one could have survived that cave in. The neighbor who claims to have spoken to the father of the family may have thought he heard voices but that is likely the effect of hope in despair playing with his emotions. If you know how the bodies were found and the condition that they were in you will understand immediately that none of them survived the fall or the material that came down on them.

@@patmccrutch3927 Your explanation of this tragedy is very plausible. Thanks to your input, I now have a better-informed understanding of the incident instead of innuendo.

Bajans too complacent, they built the house on a cave. Why did the house fall in a cave, that means a cave was underneath the foundation.

There are many places in Barbados with caves so that wasn't the issue.

Yes. There was a known cave under there but Barbados is a coral island so there will be caves but this cave was known but the fact is the rock was deep but there was additional work being done at the time so.
