I’m from Mississippi, and I have a cousin who moved to England and married a guy who owned a fish market. When she found out that crawfish are an invasive species there, she told him to have his guys go out and catch as many as they could. While they were doing that, she made up the best Cajun crawfish boil spice mix she could come up with, so when they got back with the crawfish, she boiled them just like these. They absolutely loved it.

So is fried turkey, different sides, pecan and pumpkin pie don't see where I am from. So definetly a different experience. Louisiana and southern BBQ are 2 truly American cuisines. Yes they are a mishmash of cuisine from other cultures, but they are truly unique to their locations. You won't find New Orleans style food anywhere else. It had to be created where it was due to the types of people that congregated there. New Orleans cuisine is a mix of French, Spanish, German, African, Native American, southern American with Italian influences. Good luck finding that combination anywhere else.

The Acadians (and other French) brought sauces and techniques, the great cured meat traditions came from the Germans (and the rice farming tradition), the Spanish and Canary islanders kicked in their spice palette among other things, the natives taught them about the edible seafood and wildlife, and so on, and so on. It's a legit melting pot. Note-- the list is not exhaustive, and is not a ranking.

Great video guys and you can do this in the UK if you can get your hands on the seafood. I'll give you a good tip... go to a US grocery store while you are there and buy something in the spice section called "Zatarains Seafood Boil". You can get it in a solid form or liquid..I prefer liquid. Get some water boiling with salt, add this Zatarains generously then add the seafood (shrimp, crawfish) to the boiling water and turn off the heat immediately. Let the seafood sit in the hot water for 15 minutes or longer if you want it really spicy, remove from water, cool a bit then enjoy! You can also add corn and potatoes to the boil but let them boil for 10 minutes or so before adding the seafood and turning off the heat. You will love it! I'm an American living in Europe and I bring this Zatarains back from the US when I travel and amaze my EU friends with the results.

Some try, and they are okay (I mean, its crawfish...I'll never turn them down!!), but I do love a REAL boil! Typically at a boil I eill eat 7-10 lbs. on my own. I know they say 3-5 lbs per person, but any self-respecting crawfish lover will eat double that any day! Haha!!! Glad y'all enjoyed that!!

Yeah that's what I'm saying. We boil all the time down here in Houston and it is *delicious.*

Respect! The best I've done is 5 lbs but I've got a trip to New Orleans in April, you got me fired up now. 7 sounds doable.
