    If anyone has watched him lately, the kid can MOVE. He skates well, he's fast, he is very good at forechecking and keeping the puck deep in the offensive zone. He's decent at faceoffs. He lays body with the best of them. He is an absolute menace in front of the goal crease. And lastly he's only 21. This kid will develop into a very solid bottom 6 forward.

    Rempe is like Clifford the Big Red Dog. Guys a stud. Raw dough. 21. Six foot eight and a half. He doesn't even have man weight yet. HE ENJOYS THE FIGHTING. He's from Calgary. Guy's just a dog. He's a puppy dawg. We LOVE HIM. He doesn't get many minutes, and he's not counted on for production, hes there for protection and intimidation. And he is so young he gets so excited he trucks people. Like he's taken years off dudes lives already. He's a savage. But hes not dirty. He's just excessive. He lunges. If he just stays under himself more people wont complain. But yeah, he's something to keep an eye on. He's from Calgary. He likes fighting, its fun for him. Clifford the Big Red Dog.

    There was prior beef leading up to that line brawl. Rempe injured a couple devils in the previous games

  • @leo.soininen
    @leo.soininen3 ай бұрын

    Some pointers: The "line-brawl" against the Devils was caused by Rempe. He delivered a nasty hit to Devils defenceman Jonas Seigenthaler (elbowed him in the head), this led to Rempe receiving a 4 game suspension. The thing that really made the Devils mad was that he did not fight after the hit (he was being restrained by the refs, though). Notably, Rempe has been ejected from each game he has had with the Devils (3 in total so far). Fighting does not get you kicked out (necessarily). If you are the first player to drop your gloves (on your team) in a fight, then you are fine, 5 minutes in the sin bin. However, if there is a fight after the first fight is already going on, then you are ejected (this is what happened to 8 players (including Rempe) during the MSG line brawl). Another way you can be ejected for fighting is if you have multiple fights in one NHL game (I think it is on your 2nd one, but it may be after the 2nd one).

    So the stadium series in the NHL is kinda a special event and a callback to original pond hockey being played outside. A few teams each year make some retro inspired jerseys and play in the stadium series which are played in outdoor USA football/ baseball stadiums.

    The kids still growing, and for his size he’s fast and he’s playing with a team of high hockey IQ players. Rangers front office have repeatedly said they think his ceiling is higher than anyone expects. Let him play with the vets and practice with skills coaches. An offseason of improvement and some sheltered minutes on the bottom line and I think he’ll be the most dangerous enforcer in the league, reading open ice, and surprising guys with how fast he catches them. Trouba teaches him open ice hits, fox teaches reading passes, and Kreider teaches him how to screen and tip and he’s not just an answer to “code” violations from the other team but a serious depth piece that will give other teams lines a lot of trouble on both ends of the ice

    The penalty for fighting is 5 minutes. But the referees can also issue 10-minute or game misconducts (ejections) if they are trying to prevent a game from getting out of contol. Rempe has been ejected from all 3 games he has played against the New Jersey Devils; his time-on-ice in those games were only 13 seconds, about 5 minutes, and 2 seconds. That's quite the accomplishment. Rempe is taller on skates, but so is everyone else. I would want him on my team, as long as he stops getting ejected. That puts his team at a disadvantage.

  • @shaneyoung3407
    @shaneyoung34073 ай бұрын

    For a fight, you just get a 5 minute (Major) penalty. If you get in 3 fights in one game, you're kicked out of the game. Or if one fights starts and another player starts a second fight, that's consdered "third man in" and is kicked out of the game.

    Fighting doesn't happen in most pro eurpoean and UK leagues. Since enforcers aren't there to deter bad behavior, there are more bad, violent hits more often. More players seriously injured, and more players whose career ends with 1 dirty hit. Players need an enforcer on the ice to keep everybody in check... to prevent dirty hits and penalties. Ask hockey players about it, don't ask people who have never even played or watched a game.

  • @JOHNWLOUCKS

    Looking briefly at his stats, he’s played 15 games, and put his team on penalty killing for 69 minutes. Whenever he’s taking a penalty, his team are. Whenever he’s ejected, his team have to take up the slack. Whenever he’s suspended, his team have a player less. His +/- is at plus 2. The +/- is a useful stat and one that is always included. +2 means he has only been on the ice for 2 more goals for his team than he has been against. Useful forwards are normally in the 12+ range. The team will have stats on how many times his penalties have resulted in goals given up. Ultimately the value of such players is not very high. - it may seem unrelated, but you should watch the movie 'Moneyball'. It gives an insight into the wider incorporation of statistics into sports. It doesn’t go into intangibles like how much trouble players might be to have around, but it shows the adoption of statistics rather than popularity or star value or players.

    Zdeno Chara would lay this kid out. He was 6ft 8 and not much people would dare. Fighting has to be a mutual thing but if you’re just wailing on a guy not fighting back will get you a game misconduct and it could be suspension for a couple games and perhaps money 💵 fines. Fights now require the helmet being worn during fights now. If someone like Rempe was on my team I don’t mind an enforcer but on the other hand if the player is causing too many penalties and my team is weak on the Penalty kill 4 on 5 then that player would be a big problem. It’s a give and take with enforcers especially in playoffs they help wear a team down but if his dirty playing style cost my team a win because he contributed to a 5 on 3 with a couple goals to help the opponent win I’d want him to stay in the minors.

    To answer your question about the NHL outdoor games, there have been a total of 41 of these games going back to 2003. They are regular season games played across both NFL/College Football/CFL stadiums as well as MLB stadiums. As for the attendance at these games, all but 2 of these games have completely sold out! The two that didn't were due to the pandemic and played at an outdoor rink at Lake Tahoe with no fans in attendance. There are also 2 more planned for next season at Wrigley Field (home of the Chicago Cubs and Ohio Stadium (home of the Ohio State Buckeyes). I'm for necessary fights, not just straightup ok wanna go? those kind of staged fights are bullshit. The recent rngr brawl was bs in that there was no need for all 5 to pair off. Rempe was starting the game, everyone knew he was going to have to answer for what happened in the previous match. drop th epuck dump it it , let em go at it, issue over for now. THere is a palce for fighting and it's not after a calean hit, I fucking hate that side of it... don't want your teammate to get smoked tell him to keep his head up and don't feed them bad passes. dirty plays and players the re ferees don't deal with in a timely matter should be dealth with appropriately

    If Rempe doesn’t begin to contribute offensively, then he won’t have a very long career, at least in the NHL. All he’s done is try to fight and hit people; there’s nothing wrong with that, but players have to be able to actually play hockey nowadays too, and he can’t do that if he’s sitting in the box all the time. There will be more scrutiny about this if he does something to put his team down a man and it ends up costing them.
