The reason the horses and the bulls are bucking is because if you look you see a "cinch" strap that is wrapped fairly tightly around their lower back/stomach area. Normally that cinch strap is on the horse w/saddle, but it is loose - to make the horse (bronco) or bull buck, you tighten that strap up and they don't like it - between the cinch and a person on their back they jump and kick to get them off and the strap loosened - which it is eventually!! Believe it or not - without the cinch strap on a lot of these horses - they are just really good horses and trust me - they are treated VERY well!! All of these animals are! I love a good rodeo!!!

I haven't rodeoed in over 30 years, but back then you weren't allowed to enter the arena without long sleeves and a brimmed hat it was dress code. The kids rodeo in age brackets, you can have kids between 4 and 18 in junior rodeo. Rodeo is also popular in Canada, Brazil, Argentina, New Zealand and Australia Mexico has rodeo as well but it's a different style of events.

This is a small town rodeo. There are hundreds of these around the country any weekend. Prime time is summer but can be either side of summer. Even these can have a fairground. Take your hat to an open rodeo of risk sunburn! The rules are if you touch anything with the second hand you are out. Young kids - young bulls. But still, as a parent I would draw the line at bulls. Horses naturally buck when you first start riding them. T-Shirt = Sunburn.

I had a rodeo cat named Whitey. It was a parlor trick and you have to be real slick to sell it. I would place a small piece of clear tape on whitey's back, just in front of his tail. Then do my sales pitch and put Whitey down. He would buck around just like a horse because the tape felt weird. When everyone clapped with delight and not looking I would take the tape off and Whitey would act normal. Whitey, my rodeo cat.

    13 күн бұрын

@AliKaiProject Nope. It's what we'd call a soda nowadays, but there have been variations of the "root beer" recipe for hundreds of years. Back in the 1800s it was "brewed" with yeast for a slight fermentation - not enough alcohol content to make it a proper beer, but the name comes from that process. It's made with a root - sassafras, primarily. Apparently to Europeans it tastes very medicinal due to that flavor or root being tied to medicines there, if that helps you! There's also "birch beer, ginger beer", and other such soda names. Usually anything with that in the title is older in nature but still non-alcoholic.

@@AliKaiProject The exact combination of ingredients varies, but here's a typical root beer: sassafras root extract, licorice root, sarsaparilla root, ginger root, vanilla, caramel, wintergreen, black cherry bark, nutmeg, acacia, anise, molasses, cinnamon, sweet birch, and honey. I believe the part that makes so many Europeans think it tastes like medicine is the wintergreen, which has a sort of minty/spicy kick. We also have it in medicines, like Pepto Bismol, but we tend to be able to separate medicine flavor from other things like candies or drinks.

Just so you know there are Rodeos in almost all 50 states. There are indoor and outdoor Rodeos. I recommend starting with an indoor Rodeo. We also have 4H clubs where children learn about and experience Ranching , Farming etc. We also have Fishing , Boating and Hunting, Camping, 4 Wheeling etc. All these activities are related in that they are all a subset of Outdoor Life. It’s a lot like Pickup 🛻 trucks have replaced Horses 🐎 in our Day to day life.

Many events from a rodeo come from the days of working real ranches and real cowboys on the ranch and on cattle drives. From breaking wild horses to be tamed and ridden by the ranch hands - thus the broc riding event. Steer and bull riding comes from broc riding (busting) when cowboys wanted to see who was brave enough to ride a bull instead of a wild horse (they placed bets back then)lol. Team roping came from the cowboys singling out and teaming up to bring in a calf that has wandered off from the herd and brought back to be reunited with its mom. Calf tying is from the cowboy in the field chasing down a calf and tying its legs off to be branded or castrated or to be given its shots or medication. So every event comes from the past days of ranch work and has a link with our history.

I agree with her approach to culture. I don't understand people who think that "culture" exists around touristy areas. Touristy areas are specifically curated to provide a predictable and non-alienating experience to visitors. Culture happens where the tourists don't go and people live with their unique regional experiences and worldview and arts. Also, I have no particular knowledge, but my guess would be that that final bracket of "youth" was teenagers. American conservatives are especially big on making sure that teenagers are becoming accustomed to doing adult things, while still not competing directly alongside adults.

Concussion and 13 staples in his head. He only rode one more time after he recovered to prove to himself that he wasn't scared to do it. He just decided it was a risk he no longer wanted to take...then the dang fool came close to dying years later when a 4 wheeler flipped over on his chest. His heart stopped but thank goodness his wife was a nurse and knew CPR so she got it beating and him breathing again. Only surgery needed luckily was for his broken arm.

They don't "train" the horses and bulls how to buck. If you look closely where the rear legs meet the torso, you will see a cinch strap that is pulled taught just before the gate is opened. The animal is trying to end that discomfort and the rider is literally along for the ride, which is why you see the bull/horse still bucking after the rider has come off or gotten off. The safety riders are there to get the riders off safely and remove the cinch strap. If it hasn't fallen off, then steer the animal into the collection gate to be penned up for later.

Some animals have more of a temperament for the rodeo. I don't think they care about the sheep so much. I used to think it was cruel, when they put those belts on them under their bellies and over their chests, like putting tape on a cat's feet or a rubber band around a dog's ears. Some few animals don't care and barely react, just live with the discomfort. Some get crazy and frightened and might hurt themselves. Most react predictably, and still, there are some that really enjoy the outburst. Many animals burn out eventually and are usually put out to stud, then. Especially so, the top bulls, as the animals are scored and handicapped as athletes, too, just like race horses.

I agree that each generation is losing toughness and it's sad. Americans are becoming softer in general. I'm not talking about soft in a way that means we shouldn't take care of those who are less fortunate. I think this is a big city and suburban issue. Rural and country kids have always had to be tough. I've was school teacher for 30 years. and have seen it change. It's not necessarily a good thing for sure. Those rodeo & country kids will go far in life. They have a sense of pride in being strong and taking care of themselves. 😢 So many of the kids that I have worked with the last 20 years in elementary schools have parents who believe their children can do no wrong and if they are not succeeding or are getting in trouble it' must be the teacher or school s fault. They've been labeled" helicopter parents" because they hover over their children like a big protective blanket. A 12 year old student's said to me, " I don't have to do homework. My parents said teachers can't make me do anything." That parent-teacher conference I had to have was not pleasant. It's why I retired from teaching According to a major USA News org. current 20 +year olds here are taking their parents on job interviews with them. OMG! I'm from Tennessee so there's still some of that toughness here in rural areas. My parents were lower middle class and they knew I would have to work for a living and make sure I had a good work ethic. They were of the greatest generation! They grew up during the Great depression. My dad fought in the Korean conflict. They knew hard times. My generation of baby boomers have never known hard times but we were taught to know that they would come and to be prepared. I worry about the future of our country because so many people have decided that they want the government to take care of everything in their life and it's just not sustainable imo.But only the future will tell.
