Honoré de Balzac was one of the most respected French writers of the 19th century. The café was named after him. Hearing you two giggle over the name reminds me of this bit from The Music Man: kzread.info/dash/bejne/n6qcqNVrkse4oKg.html Those looked like Baja-style fish tacos. Cotija is a crumbly Mexican cheese, not a type of parmesan or feta.

😆Yes, it is Bal-ZACK, after the French novelist. Brits tend to place emphasis on the first syllable of French words, and Canadians place the emphasis on the second syllable. Merlot is Mair-LOW in Canada, as opposed to MUR-low in UK. So... we don't really think of testicles when we think of Balzac! However, Fairy Liquid does make Canadians giggle! 😅

Who would've thought that Joel & Lia's decidion to try a Mexican restaurant in Toronto would arouse such animosity? Well, one thing is clear from the reaction of many Americans to this video: its a good thing that Americans love themselves so much, because i can assure you that nobody else does. It may come as a surprise to those who think the USA is the centre of the universe, but the truth is that there are incredible and cool things to be found all over the world. You don't always have to knock down other places to boost your own egos. Just realize that while America has many great things about it, so do other countries, including Canada 🇨🇦. Read a little more, travel a little more and keep an open mind about other places. If you do, you may find that you get a better reception when traveling outside the US.

Toronto and Mexican food ain't a thing 😂. Not true Mexican. As someone who lives in the state of New Mexico, the north's version ain't very Mexican. A majority of real classic dishes ain't very spicy. That's what we call Tex Mix lol

Ever been to Toronto? Know how many people of Mexican heritage live there? No, then stop making assumptions. People of different ethnic groups take their food and customs wherever they go, which is why you can have authentic Italian cuisine in Toronto, New York, Buenos Aires, or Sydney. Ethnic restaurants are not restricted by a certain geographic location, but depend on whether there are immigrants from those nations in a city. And I guarantee you, as someone who has lives in Toronto, there are many Latin Americans, including Mexicans, who live in Toronto.

@@James-0077 It's not equal to compare a single city versus an entire state for demographics. Comparing Ontario to either is accurate and Ontario comes up short on diversity. If you compare Toronto to any major city in CA or TX, well, you can make an argument for either depending on what characteristics you think make a city more diverse, but Toronto is hardly a clear winner. For instance, Wiki's later racial demographics for Toronto: In 2016, 51.5 per cent of the residents of the city proper belonged to a visible minority group, compared to 49.1 per cent in 2011,[28][202] and 13.6 per cent in 1981.[203] The largest visible minority groups were South Asian (Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan at 338,960 or 12.6 per cent), East Asian (Chinese at 332,830 or 12.5 per cent), and Black (239,850 or 8.9 per cent). For Houston, TX: In 2019, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, non-Hispanic whites made up 23.3% of the population of Houston proper, Hispanics and Latin Americans 45.8%, Blacks or African Americans 22.4%, and Asian Americans 6.5%.[126] In 2018, non-Hispanic whites made up 20.7% of the population, Hispanics or Latin Americans 44.9%, Blacks or African Americans 30.3%, and Asian Americans 8.2%.[127] The largest Hispanic or Latin American ethnic groups in the city were Mexican Americans (31.6%), Puerto Ricans (0.8%), and Cuban Americans (0.8%) in 2018.

@@SilkenShame Here we go again with the Yanks and their "We are far more diverse" bollocks ! Most of their 'diversity' is visible minorities which includes people of a different skin tone but are 100% American and whose families have lived in the US for generations, often much longer than the Anglos who arrived there in the past 100 years! Toronto though is full of people that were born ALL OVER THE WORLD! That is REAL diversity!
