It's more than about one celebrity...I believe it's more on the topic of mental health and the stigmas that are attached to mental illnesses. If people have profited off someone else's dark period then that's really sad. You shouldn't generalize that all the people commenting on the topic have taken part in such a thing. The reason I comment is because mental illness is an important topic to me. I have dealt with such a thing. I know many people who have dealt with it. I wouldn't want someone who is currently going through the struggle to think that their battle is a "joke" or something that they will be ridiculed about, just because of a careless comment made by a celebrity. People are commenting on it because Katy Perry and has a large platform to her audience and for her to have said something so ignorant and distasteful, sends a negative message to the people who are dealing with mental illness or to the people who don't understand it.

"Look! a celebrity might've made a stupid comment about another celebrity and it was so wrong, let's all gang up on her and make fun of her life, her divorce and let's ruin her career, even though we are kinda doing the same thing she did, and it doesn't matter if we have also made fun of Britney or shared memes of her on facebook or twitter, that doesn't make us hypocrites because we are not perfect like celebrities are."

I've seen Katy Perry throw shade at other women for years. Even if Taylor Swift is shady herself, she wasn't lying when she said Katy Perry was fake.

She wasn't even making fun of Britney but foretelling what was going on with her then. She too had been going through a very rough time and was trying to tell people about it .

I find it extremely disrespectful, childish and inconsiderate to hear someone make fun of mental illness, it is a very serious issue and shouldn't be treated like a joke for a celebrity to make these types of comments knowing she has thousands of kids that look up to her as a role model goes to show what type of a person she really is.
