It's definitely a cultural thing. I am Hispanic and our families do everything together. It's sometimes chaotic but I wouldn't have it any other way. It all depends on how you're raised as well. Caroline was raised differently so she doesn't get it.

I used to call my mom every day to check on her (she was elderly) and keep her spirits up as she was also missing her children. I've lost both parents and my brother in the past few years so treasure family while you can. My husband is more like Caroline and how she relates to her family and I think it's how they were brought up. Trust me - there is no right or wrong but I love how you appreciate the differences. However, the shoes.........that was priceless! I so concur with the cold british culture. I lived there for 2 years and neighbors were nice saying Hiya, or you all right? yet thats were it was left. No further detailed chat whatsoever.
