I believe that this parallel is being constantly brought up in the series, is very well implied by the creators themselves and is exactly why the show is called "Succession" in the first place. Corporate elites are the monarchs of our time, the new age royalty

Not even close to succession because in the BRF everyone knows who will be next in line to the throne. Unlike in the TV series, Roy keeps his kids guessing.

Every 6 days a former English colony celebrates its "independence" and Common Whealth still exists today and brings a series of benefits to England. What makes them different from a dictatorship that is made in Asia or Central America? I can't see the difference, in fact, the dictatorship of these two is about their country, theirs is about the country of others, so, right?

Well since those two haven’t had any actual power themselves and the monarchy has just been symbolic and traditionally since 1706 I’d say not much bloodshed by this family themselves Governments thats to blame If the family had disagree with anything the government has decided since then, the monarchy would’ve been abolished/deposed gulliotined etc

@@inigobantok1579 It has nothing to do with dick pics. I find the crown boring. There is no drama whatsoever. It is a beautiful TV series. The castles, decor and fashion are great, but that is all there is to it, Queen Elizabeth doesn't have major challenges, just minor hiccups here and there. I heard that there are adding false storylines in season 5, just to make it more interesting.

@@nomahope3182 tension?? the storylines in that show (the cruise line scandals, buyouts that never go anywhere, the inquiries, and other waystar problems) seem to be nonexistent by the end of season 3 with no plot development whatsoever that they culminate to this alliance of Roman Shiv and Kendall that went nowhere. It's not necessarily a bad thing since they complement it with witty funny writing from Armstrong, shakesperean overtone and character development enhanced by powerful performances. I bet season 4 would be going around and round in circles again with no plot resolution yet again. Even Brian Cox stated that they have to get the overarching story to a soft satisfying conclusion.

@@nomahope3182 and the crown does have tension, having to justify the existence of a 1000 year old symbol of deference, inequality and monarchism in an age of egalitarianism and people being well aware of those issues I presented as well as the conflicts between family at home and politics of the nation and the decline of the empire that once was. It's the historical context that serves as its tension and if it requires dramatizing to make it intriguing then there's that

Now that’s not fair! Violence, subjugation, and theft on that scale takes a lot of effort.

Love it. But it needed more shots of the modern places like in the show. Modern city to do the contrast... That's just my opinion

I don't think royal family fits for this theme. Succession is about the building of an empire from low to high and Logan's inability to pass on his ferocity and wisdom to his children. This people is there for heritage only and can't lose their empire, there's no risk for them if they are dumb 🙄 they don't have to pay attention to the market, all the money goes to them just because their blood. I recently watched an edition with the Trump family and they fit better as he lost everything and was able to take it back and become president. You can hate the guy but you can't deny he's the type of killer Logan is, and king Charles will never be
