British Rail Locos for sale 2004 - 2006. Reclaimed locos offered up for tender, to scrap or preserve
A revisit to a parts reclamation depot based in the north west. It was decided in 2004 that the locomotives were no longer needed on the modern network and so it was decided to sell the remaining stock at the Springs Branch depot based in Wigan. They were offered for scrap, parts reclamation to scrapyards and preservation societies. It has been 3 years since i last visited the depot and it was full of new stock in different states of decay. This footage was filmed in 2004 and 2006.

Class 37 is my favorite of British locomotives
37 037 survived into preservation on the South Devon Railway

Yes and no. The shed is still the same, used by leaf blowers. The two sidings at either end have been electrified and are used for stabling northern emus. Life in the old girl yet!
Sad sight... I hate seeing graffiti on the railway!
If this was India or some poor African country they would still be running them, or making one good one out of about 5 scrap ones.
