BRITISH MUSEUM: Priceless ASSYRIAN treasures (London)

British Museum - the Assyrian collection, the Assyrian antiquities at the British Museum in London. Assyrian sculptures at the British Museum, London. Let's travel to London and let's visit the British Museum and the galleries containing treasures and monuments from ancient Assyria.
At the British Museum, we will see large stone sculptures and reliefs were a striking feature of the palaces and temples of ancient Assyria (modern northern Iraq).
Visit Rooms 6a and 6b of the British Museum to see two colossal Assyrian winged human-headed lions that flanked an entrance to the royal palace of King Ashurnasirpal II (883-859 BC) at Nimrud. Plus, see a gigantic Assyrian standing lion that stood at the entrance to the nearby Temple of Ishtar, the goddess of war.
These Assyrian sculptures are displayed alongside fragments and replicas of the huge bronze gates of Shalmaneser III (858-824 BC) from Balawat.
A Black Obelisk also on display shows the same king receiving tribute from Israel and is displayed with obelisks and stelae (vertical inscribed stone slabs) from four generations of Assyrian kings.
The mighty Assyrian empire began as the small city-state of Ashur in what is now the north-eastern region of Iraq. It first asserted control over a large area in the 14th century BC, but by the 12th century BC it had collapsed.
The British Museum, in the Bloomsbury area of London, United Kingdom, is a public institution dedicated to human history, art and culture. Its permanent collection of some eight million works is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence, having been widely sourced during the era of the British Empire.

    Now an iraqi artist want one sent to Iraq because those left there were destroyed by Daesh (ISIS). What if all had been left in the Middle East during the last 100 years, as so many wanted? It would be nothing to watch and study anymore.

    @@VicStefanuThank you. I've visited and marvelled at BM's collections many times, and feel that if it were not for BM, the Pergamon museum in Berlin and others like those in Europe, there might not have been much left to piece together our history. For all the slack & critique made against 'former colonial rulers' shipping artefacts back to their cities, looking at the intense, undiscriminating warmongering in the origin countries since, most would likely have been gone.

    Shadowfan1337 Nope ! Nimrod, the grandson of Ham is the one, according to the Bible, who founded those ancient civilizations. And Noah, who is the father of Ham , Shem, and Japheth, was a black man. Remember that DNA confirms that the first humans were black. In fact, black people are the origins of all human features. But white supremacy has brainwashed everyone to BELIEVE that only white people have straight noses and black people have broad noses. NO. Black people have all kinds of features and hair types. GENESIS 10:6 6 And the sons of Ham; CUSH, and MIZRAIM, and Phut, and CANAAN. 7 And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtechah: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan. 8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the Lord. 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and ACCAD, and Calneh, in the land of SHINAR. 11 Out of that land went forth ASSHUR, and builded NINEVEH, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, 12 And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city. 13 And MIZRAIM begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, 14 And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.

    Truth Hitman Listen I couldn't careless if the first humans were blacks or not, yes I am an Assyrian orthodox believer, and I do agree if I still lived in the middle east I would have a dark skin just like the rest of my people have. I am today born in Sweden with a white skin (not Europian white) . Listen Nimrod is also known as Sargon of Akkad they both have the same accounts and match perfect together, the name Nimrod means on old aramaic Rebelious, and sargon of akkad was a man who rebbeled in order to claim the throne and even being credited for building nineveh and other cities just like the biblical nimrod. Listen these names of the bible are just trying to tell us that fathers of these characters are the folkgroups, they said that Nimrod was Kushite because he came from the state named Kush, and they were not black they were dark skined white people also known as Akkadians. Akkadians , Assyrians and Babylonians are the same thing.

  • @truthhitman7473

    @truthhitman7473

    Shadowfan1337 Nimrod was a black man, the grandson of Ham. And there is no such thing as a dark skinned white person lol No. What it is IS that white people like you are too racist to admit the truth even in the face of evidence. Your point of view has now gone into insanity. According to the Bible Noah and his family were the only people on the Planet after the flood. And Noah had to have been black in order to pass on the skin pigmentation called melanin to his 3 sons Ham, Shem, and Japheth for them to have been black. And when I say black I'm talking in political terms because no human is black. They range from dark brown, who are referred to as black people, to Pale skin, who are referred to as white people. And since you are a pale skinned European it means you are a Gentile. GENESIS 10:2 - 5 2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. 3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. 4 And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. 5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

Many civilizations arose in the countries of the Mesopotamia Valley in its north, middle and south, and the era of those civilizations dates back to thousands of years before Christ, peace be upon him. They are showing us what the Annunaki looked like. You have to bear in mind that ancient sculptors were metaphoric in their works. eg if you see a figure with wings that doesn't mean that the subject really had wings but rather that the subject could fly. If you see a king with a bull's body it means that the king, or perhaps the god, was thought by the sculptor to be very powerful.
