“I’m not really sure if Korean people truly know how really special their food really is” Idk why.. but this sorta made me feel emotional. As a Korean American, my childhood was spent trying to fit in this American mold.. and there were countless days in which I was genuinely scared to open my lunch box, in fear of getting judged for the food of my culture and people. I vividly remember a Korean classmate of mine who was teased for bringing Jjajang sauce for lunch. I no longer hide my love and pride for my culture but it makes me so happy to see that the next generations of BIPOC kids might have it a little better than we did.. with more representation, respect, and pride for our beautiful mix of cultures.

Hi JK! I’ve had a similar experience as you, I remember begging my mom to get me lunchables because I didn’t want to get bullied for bringing Taiwanese food. Although I’m not Korean and did not grow up with the culture, I agree it can be extremely heartwarming seeing people outside of the culture appreciating something we have been shamed for. I’m glad you no longer hide your love and pride for your culture, and I hope more people can grow up comfortably embracing their cultures :D

Hi! I feel it’s something a lot of us Asians relate to when we reside in melting pot countries. It’s taken years of inner work to get this far. I too had asked my mom for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (what was I thinking? lol) It’s such an emotional experience to see more representation.. I hope the kids of the next generation of people of color see themselves when they look at the big screen and feel more open to being authentically themselves.

I whole heartedly agree people would make fun of me for eating spam and rice or bringing bulgogi asking me if it was dog or saying that the kimchi smelled weird but to this day korean cuisine is still one of my favorites and I love how many different aspects there are to it

All these boys are really funny. Love the Jack and Keaton combo. Was really laughing when I noticed the usually really chatty Keaton just let Jack take over while he kept eating the Binshoo. Laughed the hardest when Keaton breaks out with "A whole new world..." and Jack finishing it. Malachi is just funny. These boys are so wonderfully open minded and so much fun. Yes Josh and Ollie, please take them to try fried chicken. Of course they can't have beer, but I am sure they will still love it.

This is my favorite part of traveling. Eating with the locals, learning about them. Finding things I never knew I could love so much. I lived in South Korea for 2 months trying out every single dish I could. I now include kimchi in my sandwiches and make my own bingsoo for guests. I literally wept when I first had a real authentic nopales burrito in Mexico. I wish I could travel more. It really broadens your horizons and teaches you to be kind, open, and understanding.

The general British vocabulary is just so beautiful. You won’t hear a lot of English spoken in the way they do - and this is just based on videos and very few personal interactions. And these are just teenagers too. Even UK pop artists and actors have a really incredible way of articulating their sentiments.

Can Keaton be a food critic already? Watching him to describe the dishes is such an enjoyment😌 He also has such a cute personality🤭

학생들나오는걸 제일 좋아하는 이유가 맛표현이 솔직하고 무엇보다 풍부하게 느낌을 표현해서 너무 좋아요. 가끔 자막을 보면서도 우와..저렇게도 표현하는 구나 하며 즐겁게 보고있어요. 나중에 꼭꼭 한국에 놀러오세요. 먹거리 ,볼거리 ,즐길거리..정이 있는 곳이랍니다. 저도 영국 꼭 가보고싶어요. 멋진나라일거 같아요 : )

I love how eloquent these students are. They have the right vocabularies to describe all the flavors and textures of the food and it’s just such a pleasure to watch them eat!! Oh and I love how encouraging of one another they are, and also the table manners are on fleeeeeek

They should go to Korea next. I love their personalities.

I was actually surprised that green tea flavoured things arent as popular in the UK considering how much yall like tea. Here in Asia (or at least in my country), you see green desserts a lot and it's usually the first one i reach for. Matcha (/nokcha) is such a good flavour

Speaking as someone who lived there for years, when british people say they're proud of being tea drinkers, they just mean they're proud of exclusively liking black/assam tea with milk. The boba tea without the boba. I wonder how many british minds are blown when they go to anywhere in Asia and discover just how many various of tea are there in Asia and is proudly everywhere just like you said.

@@soonlet4977 green tea did not travel well until recently, so the British were dependent on black tea until there was good refrigeration and storage on long voyages. So the English tradition is black teas of various kinds, we have a lot of blends and different species, often with spices added. Assam, Chai (which is assam blended with spices), Darjeeling (my favourite), Oolong, Russian Caravan (a blend of oolong, keemun, and lapsang souchong), Actually, Lapsang souchong is quite popular on its own too, English Breakfast Tea (a special English blend and what most people drink every day), Prince of Wales tea (known as Keemun in China), Earl Grey Tea, (Keemun flavoured with bergamot oil), Lady Grey (the same with added jasmine petals). Several of our special tea blends are named after the noble or royal who made them popular. Mostly our teas are black, although more recently people are getting into matcha, it's in a lot of flavourings for cakes and things nowadays.

@@bethyngalw generally speaking most people I met don't actually know there are more things beside the usual english named tea. But even then they prefer black/assam and yes matcha green is gaining popularity but like black there are variants and iirc oolong is one of them. I'm partial to pu'er myself but even within matcha there is a diverse flavour according to quality. There are other flower teas like jasmine and chrysanthemum that would suit the earl grey and camomile drinkers for example.

Keaton is just effortlessly funny...but Malachi set his own par to his humble and spontaneous humors. I can spend my whole day with only these two boys. 😂😂🤣

As a Korean myself, I think it's safe to say that every one of us have blown into our bingsoo once in our life! I absolutely LOVED seeing the boys experiencing one of the most famous desserts we have to offer. Hope they can come to Korea very soon! 한국인으로서 다들 빙수 먹을 때 후 하고 불어 본 적이 있었을 텐데, 그걸 영국 친구도 했다니! 얼른 학생들이 우리나라에 올 수 있었으면 좋겠네요 :)

I love how this experience has most likely opened their minds to trying other culture’s cuisines because they were introduced to Korean food in such a pleasant manner. I love the high schoolers series and look forward to seeing them in actual South Korea enjoying food there.

저도 외국인 친구들이 많은데 영국 뿐아니라 다른 인문학을 중시하는 교육을 받은 나라 친구들이 공통적으로 농담이든 토론이든 언어표현이 참 풍부하더라구요 ㅎㅎ

먹어보기도 전에 판단하지 않겠다는 말이 얼마나 다른 문화를 존중하고 배려하고 있는지 눈에 보여서 너무 좋다..

51, and went through a period of feeling shame for being different growing up as Korean/American. My kids are 1/2 Korean and Filipino and they are SO proud of their dual cultures and are so open minded. I love seeing British kids appreciating and embracing the Korean food. Warms my heart ❤️

The kids have really changed since the first time we saw them on this channel. I really wish them the best

I like how Josh says " this is a happy man" and he means it, I think he respects these men, they are mature, educated thoughtful, confident, well spoken and just damn cool in the very best ways. Every parent watching this is motivated to achieve this.

As an Asian, i was thoroughly surprised when i learned that not everyone ate green tea ice cream. It's personally my favorite flavor of ice cream and nearly all treats.

@@AzureFox20 I couldn't agree more! (I've been meaning to try tteokbokki) But I can't complain, the food here has quite the variety, our version of a bingsu is called "es buah" which is essentially shave ice, fruit, and condensed milk in a bowl. Nothing delicate about that for sure.

아이들이 어쩜 저렇게 맑고 순수하냐. 우리 음식을 멋지게 표현하는 것도 고마운데 그것보다 아이들의 저 모습을 보고 있는 게 힐링이 된다. 우리 고딩들도 저럴까? 생각해 보면 그렇지는 않은 거 같다. 다른 관점에서 행복할 수야 있겠지만 음식 하나에 저렇게 행복해 할 수 있는 것도 여유에서 비롯된 건데 그게 물질적인 여유라기보다는 뭐랄까 삶을 누리고 바라보는 관점에서의 여유인 거 같다. 나태와 여유를 구분 지을 필요는 반드시 있는 것이고, 저 친구들에게는 분명한 여유가 느껴진다. 아주 순수하고 맑은 결의 것으로 말이다.

Love to see that Deavon has come to really love Korean foods. And Malachi makes everything so funny with his great personality and super posh British manly voice. He should definitely get into acting/ voice overs. Love all these boys reactions.

저는 영국 남자 보면서 오히려 세계 어디든 사람 사는거 다 똑같구나 하는 생각이 들던데.. 언어 다르고 피부색 다른거 말고는 그냥 우리하고 똑같구나 싶음

Unashe is SO adorable I can't take it! His smile made my entire day. Rewatching the kids videos & wondering where Malachi & Unashe have gone. Both are so sweet & fun to watch. Hope they are in future videos. 💜

The taxi drivers brought me to this channel but I stayed for these kids. They’re so fun to watch. I think I’ve watched all the videos with them at least twice now. They’re so adorable and their reactions are so entertaining and endearing- genuine and funny. They’re all very charming young men. I hope we get to see more of them in the future in this channel!

When Keaton started singing that was the end of it, that gives me so much laughter.

This is so amazing. I’m an educator and I can’t tell you how meaningful it is to give these boys this positive exposure to other cultures. Massive!

Our entire family always waits for these high schoolers to come on this channel. Each student is always so absolutely delightful and expressive. We look forward to more episodes with all of them. Good call on having them as your guests and massive kudos to their parents for raising such sparkly special children.

This past year I got hooked on Korean food preparation and cooking videos. Now I'm hooked on these videos. I hope Josh keeps making them with each new year's students from FBS.

I had a Korean friend whose grandmother introduced me to many of their foods. Each day after school she would have a spread on the table for me to try and my only request was to wait until afterwards to tell me what each food was. There were plenty of strangely delicious items, but to-date I will crave Ojingau-bokkeum (spicy squid), like kids crave sugar. I suggest to anyone, try everything from everywhere you can.

@@callitaday1651 그건 중국글자의 한계가 문제라서요. 그래서 결국 안매운 김치도 있다고 신치도 안된다고 하다가 울며겨자먹기로 신치로 할수밖에 없는 슬픈 현실이죠. 김치는 발음은 어찌 따라할수 있지만 표기가 안됨.

진짜 원래도 한식러버였지만 미국 오니까 한국 사람들이 얼마나 음식에 진심이었는지를 알게 되었다...

키튼과 잭 듀오는 정말 사랑스럽네요. (맥스와 아르망의 우정을 연상시킴) 말라카이의 표현력은 정말 대단하고 케일럽도 아주 예의 바르고 좋은 아이.

What an EPIC series it would be if you guys actually took them to Korea... Experience the culture, history, and food of Korea. They are so open to try and so honest about what they taste without offending anyone. It would be awesome to see them see how Korea is cosmopolitan now but has a rich and long history... Such great boys! Hope it comes to fruition!!!

It's not too bad... The publicity alone with sponsorships should be able to pull this one off... I would love to go and experience it. They somehow bring the best of Korea to life!!! and would love to experience it based on their past trips with their various family and guests! So I know those kids will be great ambassadors in the future...

They’d be surprised to know that green tea is like THE flavor/scent here in Asia! We put green tea in everything from green tea latte & green tea mochi all the way to green tea soap, skincare, creams even perfume 😂🤣 On the other hand, in my country we love to have slices of mango dipped in chili-brown sugar sauce. It’s delicious!

It’s probably a bit intimidating since they don’t know much about it. I bet if they got some more green tea snacks, like Kit Kat’s, they’d be accustomed and love it as well! Just like how they got introduced to the red bean flavor and love it now.

“잔잔한 맛”은 영국남자팀의 담당번역가의 솜씨임. Jack이 말한 subtle은 많이들 씀.

근데 볼때마다 느끼는게 진짜 영국신사란말 괜히 있는게 아닌듯? 미국의 학생들과는 또다른 느낌? 자유롭고 유머스럽지만 그안에 매너와 존중이 담겨있네ㅋㅋ 애들이 무슨 어떻게 다 저러냐ㅋㅋㅋ

빙수 하나로 천국이라는 표현을 ㅋㅋ너무 귀엽네요 ㅋㅋ 어릴때 온가족이 모여 여름만 되면 집에서 항상 빙수를 만들어 먹었던 기억이 나네요~

잭이 녹차로 만든 디저트가 나온 이유를 정확히 파악했네요. 웰빙열풍이 일던때에 그냥 단맛만 있는것보다 좀더 뭔가 건강한재료로 만든 은은한 단맛을 추구할때 나온게 녹차아이스크림이었던걸로 기억하거든요. 녹차를 단맛에 접목시키는데 성공하고나서 한국디저트들이 본격적으로 한국적인 재료를 퓨전으로 접목시킨것들이 많이나왔죠. 우유만해도 새싹, 귀리, 보리, 수박, 귤, 쑥을 넣어서 만든 것들이 있고 아이스크림도 인절미, 흑임자 등등이 있고요. 좋아하는 학생들의 모습을 보니 이런것들도 먹여주고싶어요 Jack found out exactly why green tea desserts were released.I remember that green tea ice cream came out when the well-being craze was in pursuit of a subtle sweetness made of healthier ingredients rather than just sweetness. After succeeding in incorporating green tea into sweetness, many Korean desserts have been incorporated into fusion of Korean ingredients in earnest. Milk is made with sprouts, oats, barley, watermelon, tangerines, and mugwort, and ice cream is also made with injeolmi and black sesame. Seeing the students who like it, I want to feed them things like this, too. I can't speak English, so I borrowed the power of a translator.
