The 14 largest American Football stadiums are college stadiums, 8 of which seat more than 100,000 fans. The NFL has only 3 of the top 20. And, yes, the major college football teams fill their stadiums for regular season games. Colleges were playing football for over 40 years before the NFL existed.

No, those were regular college football games on a Saturday. The NFL is the professional level of American football, and was founded in 1920. College football has existed since 1869, and was where the game developed and became popular across America. Most schools in college football have been playing each other for well over 100 years. The NFL didn't catch college football or Major League Baseball in popularity until during the 1960's. The biggest college football stadium Is the University of Michigan's Michigan Stadium with a capacity of 107,601, making it the largest stadium in the United States, as well as the entire Western Hemisphere.

Friday night is typically high school football (players are 15-17 or 18 years old). Saturday is college football (players are typically18-23 years old). Sunday are the NFL games (players are typically 21+). Typically, all three levels have sold out stadiums. We love our football! 🏈🏈🏈

I would put it this way: There isn’t really culture like this in America outside of college. The NFL is big, but the atmosphere isn’t like the other football is at a Wembley or wherever. More a bunch of individuals/friend groups rooting on their team than a community togetherness thing. I went to a tiny college of about 1200 and our dorm would do chants and go crazy for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams.

College Football is significantly older than the NFL. 1869 vs 1920. College Football has rivalries like Michigan vs Ohio State, or Army vs Navy that are older than the NFL. Those weren't championship games they were showing you, but regular season games. The attendance record for College Football is 156,990 (Tennesee vs Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway). The Super Bowl attendance record is 103,985 (Super Bowl XIV). The U.S. is the 3rd largest country in the world by land area, as well as by population. There aren't enough NFL teams to go around, but there are College Football teams in nearly every state. There are 130 D1 FBS College Football teams, but only 32 NFL teams.

You have professional sports in the States aka NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, etc. And then there's college sports. College sports are divided into divisions by the number of scholarships each team is allowed. Division 1 - 85 scholarships Division I-FCS - 63 scholarships Division 2 - 36 scholarships Division 3 - 0 scholarships (you're playing for the love of the game at his level) Within each division there are various conferences of teams. In Division 1, the championship is decided by a 4 team playoff currently. In Division I-FCS it has a 24 team playoff to decide the champion. Division 2 is similar to Division I-FCS. I believe Division 3 is similar too. Division I is where your largest stadiums are found. I am a University of South Carolina Gamecocks fan. Our stadium, Willias-Brice, has capacity for over 77,550 fans. It's the 16th largest capacity wise in college football. The top 8 largest stadiums seat over 100,000 each. We went from 82,000+ to our current number to add some premium seats with tables and more space.

College football players can enter the NFL Draft. However, unless you're really outstanding you're not getting drafted. College is the last time many players will play the game. For many Americans, there isn't a professional team nearby unless they drive 100+ miles. However, their local college team has always been nearby. Many Americans are bigger college fans than fans of any NFL team.

College football carries the same weight as soccer in other countries and maybe more. The traditions and state pride is part of the atmosphere of college sports. It is regional and national at the same time and the commodity behind such games creates a bond that is hard to beat. Its basically war one against the world and you want to be proven the best. College football is so great because of the commitment of the player and fan without either one it would be absolutely pointless it would be the NFL. So many families and friends sacrifice their time money and energy for them to attend a college of choice that would make their lives better and that leads to loyalty to the school at hand.

To avoid taxes, schools spend football revenue on things like new stadiums. Football and Basketball generate something like 90% of all college sports revenue which goes into the billions. Athletes have not been allowed to see any of that revenue but that may change. The average player value to a top school over 4 years is more than $1.3 million yet they receive nothing.

But I don't believe any other country has college sports like the US, which means these are college students playing college football so they are not paid by the university to play. Although athletes can get paid for their Name Image and Likeness (NIL), they are not yet salary paid athletes. Only the top 1% of college football players get drafted into the NFL.

Think university instead of college. Most of these schools had teams before they attained university status.

All college football games like this. Doesn’t need to be a play off or bowl game! These were all college games. You should react to all college football stadiums and capacity. College football is better than the NFL. Not that I don’t love the NFL!!
