One thing to consider in this is not all the military people would be against the citizenry. Much of the military from buck privates to generals would side with the citizenry and take whatever tanks, artillery pieces, whatever is mobile with them and sabotage what is not. Also, if the military just bombed everyone into oblivion there'd be no one left to rule which would rather defeat the purpose of being a tyrant. There are at least 100 million Americans with 300 million guns and trillions of rounds of ammunition. Also, armies need food and their food comes from the private sector. If the military turned against the citizenry just how much food do you think would be making it to the military bases?

Two things. The revolutionary war and the civil war. American civilians will stand up to the govt if they push too many buttons. There are teasons we have militias in the US. There are also 3% groups all over the country. It is said that only 3% of Americans stood up to and fought the British. I definitely wouldn't put another civil war to the side.

@@Anon54387 This is what no one understands about the citizens, the majority of servicemen and women take their oaths very seriously and would not turn on it's own family's. You hear people all the time saying that the troops would wipe out a civil war within days but they are only thinking that 100% of the troops would act against their oaths and that isn't true at all. In the end the citizens along with troops that will not act upon a tyrannical government's orders would win.

When JFK signed the Special Forces Act in the early 60's, he told the enlisted Green Berets and SEALs that if the government ever went tyrannical, their job would be to go AWOL out into the U.S. and teach people how to fight the government.

1.5 million military members. 16.5 US veterans. We've all sworn an oath to the Constitution. Not the Government.

I think that there are about 15 million hunting licenses sold every year in the United States. That is 15 million people who get up long before sunrise, go into the forest, and stay there in the freezing cold . . . for fun. The number of deer tags alone are more than the size of any army that ever existed in the world.

The hunters in 4 northern states alone, outnumber any military in the world!!! Add the other 46, and it's insane!!! But I do believe the military would split in the case of a civil war, depending on their beliefs, and values!

Tim Taylor. I would agree with you on this statement 10 years ago. Not so much anymore, I honestly don't know how that would play out. While I do hope they would choose to defend the constitution and the American citizens, with all the bullshit that's being taught and infiltration of progressive ideology I'm not so sure.

As a Ranger of 8 years who served in Afghanistan and Iraq... look at how "untrained citizens" did against our military over the last 20 years. They are now in control of the region and we left with our tails between our legs Myself and many that I have served and bled with would not go against our own people, families and friends. HOOAH!

As an 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Englishmen and an infantry vet of the British (1PWO/Yorkshire Regiment) and US Army my family household has 2 more guns then there is family members. Definitely know why the 2A is important especially after what happend during the coof theatrics from 2020

Don't forget a couple things. One, most soldiers would let their own family stay alone, they'd leave the service to protect their own. And, two, consider how many of us "civilians" are trained military vets.

Plus no government would destroy the entire population and land by carpet bombing the whole country or using nukes. It would be much more targeted with drones and checkpoints, sort of like Afghanistan. Last time I checked the US didn't win that one.

They don’t take into account that our military takes an oath to the constitution so a lot would stand down or go over to the citizens. Also there are millions of vets in this country who know how to fight.

There is an act that's been in place for a 150 some odd years that disallows the US military from carrying weapons or fighting within the country. State national guards can do so. THE Posse Comitatus Act.

We used to game this scenario when I was in the military, at the Pentagon. Short of full-scale deployment of tanks, artillery bombers etc.?... the US military stood zero chance against it's own people. There are currently over 100 Million civilians, most with some military training in the US, Others are hunters (fun fact: the hunting licenses sold every year? would make those people the largest 'military' in the world). There are currently about 300k actual combat focused troops at best. The majority of the Military is support. Research shows that, if order to go to combat wth it's own citizens?.. 95% attrition rate, leaving 15000 troops to fight a door to door counter-insurgency war against maybe 1/3 of the armed civilians, as 2/3 of the civilians would not engage... until the first picture of dead women and children were shown. Take also, into account that the 95% of the military that defected, most likely with their weapons back into society?... are now also engaged in the fight against the government. I think we can all see the spiraling mess here. Best case estimates?.. the military might take a month of fighting before they are defeated. Worst case (for the gov't) a weekend, as the soldiers defying the illegal orders and federal/state/local law enforcement would simply imprisoned the 5% that remained. After that there's a mess of military/civilian tribunals, public executions... more responses to that as violence died down, people protest the executions, violence re-escalates... civil war, insurgency skyrockets, pockets of resistance both pro/anti government... battles for power... the US would go somewhat mad-max with huge gangs/militias. Then.. let's not even start with another country trying to step in while we are fighting ourselves. That last part, oddly enough, is what would begin to "right the ship" as all these disparate militias/gangs could focus on fighting an external force. Then we could go off on different tangents as to whether the invaders used nukes, or wanted to preserve the infrastructure for themselves, etc. I think we turned in an over 1000 page report (which btw,.. would make an awesome series!). I could go off for another several paragraphs but my fingers are tired.

Curious, did the mil take into account the amount of competition shooters? While not a large segment of the population if even a few got together they could present a unique problem. (Especially if they are prior mil with CQB training/experience) Biggest point you bring up that I concur with is force attrition. If anything were to kick off most troops would say f this and they would go home to their families. Kind of cracks me up when people bring up using national guard for any kind of unjust "gun grab" scenarios. While not totally out of the question people need to remember that most Guard troops don't want to go against their own communities. Who wants to go against their neighbor? "Sorry Jim, I'm going to need to confiscate your firearms". Nope, not happening. Why? Sooner or later you have to go home and live next door to Jim again. Take Jim's stuff and chances are he won't be very forgiving.

I don't know a single person who has or is serving who wouldn't be tempted to shoot the general or any military bureaucrat for the treason of ordering an attack on civilians. I think we'd see a military coup before they'd attack their own people.

Assume no defections. Assume the fight is against our military and not just the government. Assume technical superiority is brought to bear. What you then have is a long, protracted guerrilla war.

@@philomelodia Irrelevant assumptions. There is 0% chance we wouldn't see mass defections. A civil war/revolution is an actual possibility. A treasonous military as a whole is not.

The U.S. is unique in that it was founded through revolt rather than domination. As a nation, we value defense over offense. It's important to remember that if there ever is another civil conflict, we won't stand for an oppressive government, no matter what party they represent. The government tries to keep us divided because they know that united we stand, divided we fall. I hope we never have to face another civil conflict, but history has shown that we will stand up for what we believe in. Let's stay united and keep defending our values.

“Regulated” meaning adequately armed and proficient with those arms. The second amendment does not require membership in any militia as a condition required to be met before you can keep and bear arms. The people being armed and proficient in those arms is a prerequisite to forming well regulated militias.

There is probably 70 times more military veterans in America than active duty which plays a huge factor

as a vet, I took an Oath to the Citizens not the Government

As a former Navy Operation Specialist, I have looked at this scenario before, in fact, many studies have been done on exactly this subject and in all I looked at, the US citizens would win in just a few months, if not weeks. The reason the US Military would fail is because it is made up of citizens. In the studies I saw, the estimate was that at least half the military would AWOL and join their families and the resistance. Of those remaining loyal to the now hostile military force, how many of those are still loyal to the citizenship and only stay to provide intelligence on military movement and to conduct espionage operations. Keep in mind that as half the military revolts, we retain possession of roughly half the military facilities we occupy so we have access to the same equipment and resources as the rogue military elements. This scenario is repeated across the majority of the research I read which the government routinely requisitions from military think tanks. Somehow, they never seem happy with the results of the studies but they help me sleep at night. Just my thoughts. God bless America.

As an American citizen and an American military veteran, I can tell you, beyond any shadow of doubt, the "military" would lose, in less than a week. A big part of the reason is, the vast, vast majority of active military members would side with the American citizens.

A defection of NCOs would complicate operations and those remaining in service would be potentially double agents in malicious compliance. E4 and above could cripple commands. That is not counting commissioned officers with conscience.

I Am a combat veteran. My biggest concern is the political tribalism taking over my country. When I was younger I didn’t think military leaders would ever allow the us military turned on the civilian population. With our enemies stoking the divide between red and blue; this seems more likely. Americans don’t back down from a fight so this conflict will be bloody if it ever comes.

@@JACpotatos I think in that fight the nation as a whole loses regardless of which side wins. I simply don't share you certainty on the outcome. One side is really good with firearms but is most overweight with many healthcare issues. The other side hates guns but runs marathons, hikes, bikes and eats like a rabbit. I trained soldiers for 22 years. I can teach a soldier to improve their marksmanship in a day up to a week. It takes at least six weeks to make distinguishing gain to their physical fitness (and that's when they are just below the military's minimum standards). Shooting a gun is only 1 of 1000 things a soldier must know to be effective.

If we wanted to use actual stats, then one side would be mostly military, ex-military, farmers, etc. The other would be those from more urban areas typically, and unarmed for the most part. Both sides would vary in physical health conditions, daily activities, etc. But yes, it would be a net negative. For that reason, and those listed above, this "war" would never actually happen.

We in America, will never allow our Government to make us "Box Car Ready".

When I was active US Army (E-7 Retired) - I was taught - and in turn taught my soldiers - that our oath was to defend the nation AND the constitution - including against our own corrupt leaders and government if need be. The lessons of Lt Callie and My Lai were still fresh as a reminder of every soldier's duty to resist an illegal order. I hope I would have supported the side that I felt was morally right

This is the exact reason why in the US we have the 2nd amendment (the right to bear arms), so that if the govt turns against the citizens then the citizens can turn against the govt.

I don't think the rest of the world can fathom that we are not afraid to commit violence. we have a long fuse and a lot of patience, but when push comes to shove, we shove back hard, and usually, loss of life would happen.

Before covid i think we had a good chance of the military being gutted and in turmoil. But during covid they removed a lot of the people that would be the defectors.

The Japanese knew not to invade our mainland… their command famously said “There is a gun behind every blade of grass!!”

One factor to consider on this is, if the order to attack the civilians is given by a tyrannical or inept government, then its a pretty good bet that the military is going to tell the government to pound sand. And the military isn't going to blindly follow the orders of a government that is willing to sacrifice their own citizens to remain in power

i actually think quite a lot of people in the military would just follow orders. the entire purpose of our education system and military training is to make people into obedient cogs who don't resist. There's a reason some police departments wont allow some applicants because their IQ is too high. if you're too smart you're more likely not to simply trust but to first consider what you're being asked to do. i do however think many wouldn't just follow orders too. i dont think they're all order followers but if the covid years taught me anything its that tons of city cops are more than happy to just follow orders even if they violate the constitution they swore an oath to.

The Biden administration has been active in rooting out solders with ethics or integrity.

Until recently I would have said there's no way our military would have taken up arms against their own countrymen (and women), but the more woke our military is becoming the less sure I am that they would either stand with us or stand down.

As a veteran, I can assure you most military members would never take up arms against their families & neighbors. We took an oath to the Constitution, not the government.

we ARE our military. WE man it. registered guns , maybe. theres a lot more that are unregistered. we are brothers and sisters. trained vets. we stand together.

I love how they say its never gonna happen as a fact. Given the wording of our second amendment it is our duty if the government gets out of controll.

He actually did say that, but that "there would be a WELL AIMED rifle behind every blade of grass." That is even more true today.

The latest numbers I've read: 100M+ gun owners; 300M+ guns; nearly 5T rounds of ammo. If it ever comes to pass, the People wouldn't fight the planes and tanks, but planes and tanks go nowhere without fuel & maintenance. Asymmetrical warfare is how a "weaker" power can defeat a greater.

We know where the bases are too... I would say a coordinated force of about a hundred could take over our local air base within a day if necessary.

There was a in depth study done here in the US several years ago about this very subject where they analyzed everything, and even the military experts admitted that in the end they would lose short of nuclear weapons.....

Don’t underestimate what people can do when they’re motivated.

Also many national guard and reservists would joint the insurgents against a tyrannical government which would add ammo, ammunition, weapons, gear, vehicles, planes and tanks. They won’t use nukes and try to avoid destruction of infrastructure. And there would be turncoat active duty people as well.

@@aviator2252 your missing the point that’s great on paper but the people will decide if they follow order or not. Some states will order the guard to join with the federal government and some will say to fight the federal government. And even in the states that have the guard fight with the tyrannical government no guarantee the guard personnel will follow those orders.

I'm about 1 minute in, haven't watched the video yet, but already I'm gonna say, unless the government resorts to nuclear weapons they don't stand a chance. There are many ways to destroy a tank, many veterans know these methods because they're trained to destroy tanks without tank support of their own. Many of those veterans with all that training are "civilians" now, and the vast majority of them hate the government more than your average American civilian AND they often train their friends and relatives for exactly this situation. There are multiple "schools" (for lack of a better term) in the US that teach civilians how to fight in combat against more powerful enemies. And multiple countries have waged fairly successful wars against large organized militaries by employing guerilla and insurgent tactics. Take into account also that a massive portion (I'd wager a hefty majority, but we'll stick with just a 50/50 split) of the military would turn against the government before they turned on their own families, and there's no way the government could win without resorting to nuclear bombings and then what have they won? A radioactive rock pile.

Even with nukes, it won't do much good. If it were, say, lefties rebelling they would work as lefties tend to be concentrated into the major cities. Indepenents and conservatives are spread out all over the place. It would take so many nuclear strikes to make enough of a dent to win the war that they'd kill off the rest of the country from the fallout. The opposite is true here. If one ballistic missile submarine defects, the military and government have to face the very real and credible threat that if they didn't make peace or surrender, their troop concentrations in the field, bases, or even cities (if it got that bad) could be nuked.

I literally just watched a video of Yemen rebels destroying an M1A1 that had been abandoned by the crew by lighting a fire in the open hatch and shoving a bunch of random wood inside. Basically for the cost of a lighter, they destroyed a multi million dollar piece of equipment.

@@hisdudeness8328 there's multiple ways, anything that damages the track links enough that one breaks has immobilized it, tanks are actually super vulnerable in modern combat (and especially urban combat) and the reigning doctrine is that infantry is to be accompanying at all times as protection for the tank. It's a symbiotic relationship, the tank is big and intimidating and is the more tempting target meaning the infantry is "theoretically" less likely to be targeted, and the tank can hopefully survive at least a couple hits and give the infantry long enough to kill the threat, and the infantry is there to kill the threat as quickly as possible because traversing the turret takes time and an attack almost never comes from where the cannon is pointing.

If the civilians have the initial advantage with the amount of military vets that would be involved all military equipment seized would be put into use giving the civilians an increasing amount of power backed by a unmatchable amount of man power. Ex US Navy here. One thing they didn't mention is as of now civilians have about 50 million combat aged veterans, it would be a shit show. Love your channel. Keep it up.

Outside of Manassas, Virginia about 6 years ago, a private citizen sh0t a 50 caliber weapon, at a military helicopter and actually hit the pilot, the sh00ter was never found. I don't think it made national news, I live close and saw it on our local news, but you can Google it. There's alot of instances that already happening but they downplay it to avoid copycats. Don't underestimate the kind of weapons private citizens own,legal and illegal.

I agree with many comments. A good portion of the citizenry here in the US are veterans. There's also the National Guard to take into account. Also, as previously mentioned, our Military personnel take an oath to protect the Constitution, not the Government. If something like this were ever to happen, I believe the Government would get a very big surprise in that they would find themselves and the Country, placed under Martial Law with both the Citizenry and Military personnel working together to restore order.

Never underestimate Rednecks and Veterans. Patriotism! Our government would be the 1st thing taken out.

Never underestimate Marines. When paired up with farmers, they created the Ontos and the gun trucks of Vietnam. They have a proud history of jury rigging whatever crap is lying around to work better than "military grade". Every retired Marine I've met is just as sharp as he was when in service, including the 90 year old WW2 veteran.

I live in south eastern Kentucky, son I've got 10 weapons and over 3 thousand rounds of ammo. With my friends included, we can hold the line.

The military would split into three factions: A] Personnel leaving their posts to honor their oath to the Constitution and fight the regime of tyrants. B] Personnel who would fight the citizens of the country at the will of the latest administration in violation of the oath to the Constitution. C] Personnel who would try to maintain the nation's defense against foreign threats while tapdancing through the political minefield.

There are about 20 million veterans in the US. I n fact the overwhelming majority of those who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan are now veterans.

And those same soldiers, including every other soldier is HIGHLY trained in Urban warfare & how to be successful in limiting and/or eliminating collateral damage. So I agree, don’t bet against our troops.

This is the reason why we have the 2nd amendment.

Also keep in mind we have something like 17 million veterans that are now in civilian life. I know a few and they always say they would take the people over the government. There is one that was working to get the veterans to take a side in this government overreach.

The 3% statistic is off because it does not take into account the guns that are not registered. In the southern states, almost everyone owns a gun.

There is no known number and anyone that claims there is is wrong. There are hundreds of millions of guns from before any tracking that can be given or sold privately never on a list. There are unknown millions of guns people make that are never registered. There are tens of millions a year that never enter a federal check with federal law allowing bypassing NICS in 20 some states.

It would NEVER be the US military vs the US citizens, it would be the US citizens vs the higher up in the military and the politicians that supported fighting against their own constituents, which would result in summary executions and a lot of vacant Senate seats as well as Executive branch seats.

One other note. I have been to Portsmouth England. I loved it there. The people were cool and had a lot of fun picking with me about my southern accent. This was back in 95. I really did enjoy spending time with the people there, genuinely nice.

As a veteran I think I'm safe in saying, without some overwhelming catalyst, half the military will stand down and not take sides.

One thing I am hoping for is that is a good amount of the military will defend the people rather than the gov which is what I would do if still in the military.

The military would never find a target.

I live in West Virginia. Citizens over 21 yrs of age do not have to register their guns or get permits. A few other states are or plan to do the same. There is no way to know how many handguns, rifles, shotguns, etc. ir out there.

And that's just purchases since 1968. (When the whole needing a permit/register bs started) They don't think about firearms passed down in families that was purchased before 1968 or, in states that allow it, private sales. There's no way the govt knows exactly who has what. (And let's not forget war trophies grandpa brought back in his dufflebag from wherever he was putting bad guys down.)

In Florida we have no transfer laws for private sales. Unfortunately we do have to register if we buy from an FFL, but I've known people who trade off with friends or even mostly strangers. A little mutually beneficial purchase swap just to avoid the registration.

Estimates range from a low of 310 million to a high of 650 million. Firearms can last more than a century. Most Americans know how to use them. As Yamamoto said, "there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass". It is why we have the Second Amendment, it protects all the rest against GOVERNMENT.

But a huge portion of America lives in big cities who are often left wing, anti-2A nutjobs. Actually did thats exactly what happened in the Revolutionary War. Ordinary citizens banded together to fight the British who at the time was the military of the United States

The 3% owning half is not that surprising because very few people that have guns only have 1.

James and Millie, something to consider if the US government was to turn on it's citizens, military personel have family members in certain areas and wouldn't shoot members of their family. who's to say that foreign governments wouldn't ship weapons to insurgants without being stopped, they ship drugs across by the truckload.

Look what's going on in Canada I just saw that a bunch of spots millions of people would become citizens if we give them Greenacres cause they can own land here but can't get a green card then you have Mexico to the south witch you k ow would want a better US government to work with to better their situation. Has anyone mentioned the Posse Comitatus Act preventing the military from being used in domestic affairs? This alone would put the US people against the military because they would be acting unlawfully. Keep in mind that 3% of the US population is 9,600,000.

You also have to think about all the veterans and the fact our military personnel won't attack their own families and friends.

You also have to remember that there are millions of former TRAINED veterans here. And since so many people own more than 1 firearm (average of 3 per) there are plenty to loan to others for this fight.

The Statue was more than like a reference to the famed Iwo Jima first installed on Parris Island Marine Corps base in South Carolina. There are now many of them around, the statue comes from a famous photograph of US Marine troops raising the flag atop Mt. Suribaiachi on Iwo Jima after, mostly, defeating the Japanese in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

When I was there the US military spent most of it time and resources building schools, hospitals, and roads. It was something most US media refused to talk about or show. Humorously enough, the don't mess with family thing also applies to France, even though they should probably step out of they way and smoke a cigarette and let the grownups do what is needed.

I am interested to see this video. As a former Soldier myself, married to a retired Soldier, I know there are many civilians in our nation who were in the military once. We know how the military operates because we were once those people. Let's see what the video says!

Please understand this would never happen. The US Military takes an oath to the US Constitution and obeys and follows lawfull orders from the Commander in Chief (President) Even in the case of Marshall Law being implemented by a President, the Posse Comitatus Act, which forbids US military involvement in domestic law enforcement would come into affect. And without congressional approval, the militarry would never be sent to take up arms against its own people. I know this is a Hypothetical issue, but even then, the US military would have more than 2/3rds its active duty personnel disobey the order, rather than take up arms against its own family or former brothers in arms.

And also agreed that some bad military is in USA (money hungry) but the vast majority of current military and veterans would protect the people if it came to it, and that is just plain leaving out the 2A that many think has faded away but actually has grown in the past decades, especially since Obummer. Battle tactics have changed cause nobody is dumb enough to try or is even capable of a land invasion that would win. That is why the enemy now is primarily within, but you can't call it a Civil War when these people hate the USA, kinda like the first Civil War, it was infiltration tactics, but we will win again no doubt and put this to bed finally!

@@cygnusx-3217 No they didn't in many cases (lets include Afghanistan and protecting the poppy fields), but if you have not been in the military, they take orders from top to bottom. There are good and bad, but they follow orders or get dishonorable discharge if not, not to mention they are on a "need to know basis". That does not excuse any of those wars/conflicts, but I would ask you a simple question? Who has controlled the world for almost all of written history? Any ideas.... when JFK was assassinated, something changed and yes it took a long time to turn around, even though things look bad and there are no excuses for those actions, they will NOT happen again without severe consequences for the right reasons this time. Ever heard of Space Force? Do you know what they do? What about Quantum . gov ? This is not meant to be mean or demeaning to you in any way, but if you can't see what is going on around you in the big picture, you will find out soon. Not making excuses at all, just FACTS!

I agree with what you stated but I think one other thing that is missing is the States themselves allowing the us military to start shooting their citizens as well as the politics crisis this would cause. National Guard units are under state control and one could even see situations of National Guard units being called up to defend the citizens of a state against its own military forces. In the end anything on a large scale would basically mean civil war. Also then how much of the civilian portion that works for the military would support such an action. No doubt Congress would be divided along with local governments. Not to mention police forces and other institutions. And I know of the Posse Comitatus Act so no doubt several in the Senate and Congress know about this. Congress knows this because they recently tried to amend the act in I think 2020.

Also, this warrants a separate comment but that statue IS real. It's the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima. While the actual statue looks a bit different it's a real thing and actually a pretty big national pride symbol as Iwo Jima was one of the toughest battles the US fought in WWII in the Pacific and the capturing of the flag being raised was iconic as it was a major battle where the US claimed victory on the Japanese home islands. The actual flag raising got missed so the statue is actually a re-stage of the raising by soldiers later that day/week for media purposes.

Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan basically proved that civilians can fight the US military fairly well. Also, as to resupply efforts, I could almost guarantee that certain factions in Mexico and South America would 100% supply weapons and ammunition to the American insurgent forces. And basically, a LARGE chunk of the US military would "defect" to fight on the side of the insurgency, the oath that soldiers take is to defend the NATION/CONSTITUTION not the goverment, most would not fight against friends/family.

Some of tht is going to depend on who issues the call to arms. Trump might get most of his MAGA cultists to respond, whereas a retired well-known, highly-respected military leader could probably mobilize most Veterans.

There are civilians that have access to same stuff that the military has. The military wouldn't take orders from our government.

Not sure how "US citizens" morphed into "US insurgency". Given the choice of supporting the "US citizens" versus supporting the US politicians and their bureaucracies, a large part of the military would side with the citizens and their families.

@@bill45colt you’re forgetting the military has something called the AC-130. Those guns don’t need to be aimed at a tip of a pin, just fire a 50cal in the area where the enemy is & job done. Enemy forces are dwindled without a shot ending a soldier’s life.

Most people who have guns have built a nice stockpile of ammo as well just for this sort of thing.

You're also forgetting that a lot of vets from Iraq and Afghanistan know how guerilla warfare works and experienced it. In addition some were further taught by their parents who learned it in Vietnam.

Those of us who survived have been trained by the best just by surviving.

The latest poll that came out states 32% of Americans are willing to admit to owning at least one firearm. Those are the ones willing to admit to it. I've heard of so many horrible boating accidents where people lost their hunting rifles so that percentage is probably actually low.

There isn't much about this video that is actually true.. 1) home field would suggest that to know the area you need only be from the country...as if there aren't so many cultures within the US, there aren't greatly different regions, and that those who are from the area being fought over, wouldn't also most likely be the ones that leave the military to join their neighbors... there just wouldn't be a huge military if they were fighting US citizens. 2) All equipment at home is available to US citizens as well, with 20M Veterans most likely on the citizens' side, Veterans who know the system, locations, and functions of all that equipment. 3) Where the Veterans go the war would go, not just for their combat skills being most effective against the remaining military, but also their connection to the people who would be rising up against the Govt. If the cause is good enough for the Veteran, it would be followed by the greatest amount of Citizens...and those citizens would be the economic block for their side with no one being the economic block for the other side. 4) Citizens would have little to no rules in how they fight, whereas the Govt would still in large part need to follow the Geneva Convention rules. No one would know how to exploit this difference more than the Veterans who had to fight this fight before, being taught by the very best of the best of histories Asymmetric Warriors, and not just recent history either.

Take a lesson from history , the Revolutionary War., a super military vs a rag tag revolutionary army

The Government would lose to it's citizens. The veterans would know every back door entrance onto any base in the US. Add to that, knowing people that are still in service to assist with helping the cause. Citizens would win fairly quickly.

That is a real statue, based on film and photographs of US Marines taking the top of Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima in 1945.

The bigger issue would be the opportunity created for foreign adversaries to take advantage of the situation. If the US got into a hot civil war like this, the Chinese would probably take advantage of the chance to take over. Of course, then they would be facing a mobilized and armed US citizenry.

most of my shooting friends own over a hundred,,,and the serious collectors in the group have over 250,,,,plenty to go around and thousands of rounds of ammo for each. The trick shooters in the group are good enough to hit a medium size water melon at over 700 yards,, the size of a mans head,,,,and their rifles will penetrate an armored vest like it was a paper bag,,,,many are vets,,,,some are just good ole boys from down on the farm, hog, deer, crow, and ground hog hunters mostly,,,,

My Grandfather taught me that for every firearm that you own; that you should keep 5 to 10 thousand rounds. Just in case you need it.

I'd have to go with depending on the reason, a lot of the military would not go through with it.

So you know, I know many people who own between 20 and 100 guns. I also know of a person ( co worker's relative ) who owns about 400 guns. Yes some people are really in to them. There's literally new one's coming out every month. Collect them all, lol.
