Gentlemen, and I use that term broadly in your case, I am really enjoying that you all are embarking on this whisky journey. You will find some good and some bad, but always remember that whisky is best served the way you like it, and always among friends. Thanks so much for all your efforts keep the great work coming. (:

Agreed. I'm a bourbon snob, but I'll absolutely admit I put 3 ice cubes in my drinks. I like cold drinks. Whiskey neat is a bit much for my taste, but everyone has their own way to enjoy it.
When daz mentioned that he knew pappy van winkle my american heart swelled
It's one of those things, All Bourbons are whiskey but not all Whisky is bourbon situations. Whiskey = a spirit distilled from fermented grain mash-grain varieties include wheat, rye, barley, and corn. Bourbon needs to be produced in America and made from 51 percent corn

@@KevinKillaKam Crown Royale is just the swill Canada exports. The reason why it is smooth is that the chill filtering strips out a lot of the oils. Sadly those oils also have most of the flavor.
Buffalo Trace produces "Weller" as well. The best barrels that turned out the best Weller were renamed Pappy Van Winkle.

One day maybe I could afford it
With Woodford you get a more caramel flavor. The water and the location of their distillery plays a great deal. Their property is absolutely beatific.
The Woodford. Good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner..... then for a night cap.
I also recommend angels envy, knob creek, and bulleit rye. Great mid range bourbons
Need to send office blokes some sports memorabilia for the walls!
Compared to a wine glass, brandy glasses have a shorter stem. But, personally, all I really care about is if the glassware will hold liquid. ;) Also, the bar set looks perfect.
Now THIS is an actual attempt at American whiskey tasting! I love it! “Proper bar” you’re damn right!
The traditional drink of the Midwest is a Highball- - - Bourbon and Ginger Ale. When was younger (20s & 30s) I drank Manhattans - - - Bourbon, with a splash of sweet Vermouth.
Iirc, small batch refers to using a smaller batch of barrels to blend a profile as opposed to dozens of (or more) barrels in a standard blend. Here I am enjoying a Laphroaig 10. It's a scotch day for me. "I love scotch. Scotchy scotch scotch." - Ron Burgandy 🤣 Good luck getting some Pappy. It's unobtanium. There are list of places that sell it. Oblix in London keeps some in stock afaik. Not sure if that is a restaurant, bar, or retailer. Beyond that, you'll probably have to come down to the bourbon trail and buy it to have it shipped unless you can take it overseas.
I absolutely love these ones, it's like hanging out with my friends throwing a few back and just shooting the shit. Cheers!
I just love my British bro’s content !! Always up to see what you guys got on the channel ! Keep it going guys .
Spent a legless night (and rough morning) once in Manchester with a visit to the neighborhood pub of my uncle's father. I was visiting my uncle and aunt in Scotland at the time (American here), but we spent a weekend with my uncle's parents in his childhood home in Manchester, and that was a brilliant afternoon/evening at the pub. As a whisky (and whiskey) lover from the US, I would LOVE to drop in some day and share some tastings with the Office Blokes, no lie!
Cheers Blokes! Sitting here with a nice bottle of wine watching you guys react to some fine whiskeys.
Whiskey are distilled grain alcohol 'beverages'. The distinctions are in the ingredients (as you noted). Bourbon - majority corn, Scotch - majority barley, Rye - majority rye. USA famous for bourbons, Scotland for Scotch and Canada for Rye. Oh... and you likely know vodka is wheat based (Russia) and Sake is rice (Japan). :)
I'd love for yall to try Canadian whiskies, like crown royal northern harvest rye! Award winning🎉🎉
You can make and sell bourbon anywhere in the US, according to certain mash and ABV restrictions, but the best bourbons do come from Kentucky. Woodford Reserve is an excellent, solid choice that's mostly available everywhere you want to go in the US. They also make a Kentucky straight rye whiskey that's just wonderful.
5 rules for bourbon 1. Made in America 2. New charred oak barrels only 3. Mash minimum 51% corn 4. Put into the barrel to age at no more than 125 proof 5. Distilled between 80 and 160 proof in the bottle Other definitions Straight bourbon - must be aged over 2 years, and if it's less than 4 it has to have an age statement telling you the age of the youngest whiskey in the bottle Kentucky Straight Bourbon - same as straight bourbon but must be aged a minimum of 1 year in Kentucky Bottled in bond - minimum 4 years aging and bottled at exactly 100 proof Finished bourbon - bourbon that was aged in different barrels before bottling Single barrel - obvious Small batch - comes from a small group of barrels mixed together to get the desired taste (no legal definition on the number of barrels)
Bourbon is aged on "virgin" wood that has never had liquor on it where as whiskey is aged on essentially bourbon wood that has already had liquor in it! Aging is when the liquor is but in a barrel and oaking, which is what moonshiners do alot, is where the barrel wood is put in the liquor like a tincture!
Love it, gents! Woodford is my go-to for an Old Fashioned. Can’t go wrong with anything on that bar. Keep the content up!
Great looking Bar. fun watching, as always.
love the bar, now you need a couple bar stools and some shelves behind you to display all the bottles.
Wild Turkey is pretty good. But my dad who was a character in himself. Got me started with Jim Beam. And there's just a specific taste to Jim being that stands out to Me Above the Rest that I've tried
The best part of drinking, the conversation. Well done blokes
This is the regulation of bourbon. Bourbon must be made of a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn. Bourbon must be distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof (80% alcohol by volume). Bourbon must be aged in new, charred oak barrels. Bourbon may not be introduced to the barrel at higher than 125 proof (62.5% alcohol by volume).

If I'm not mistaken bourbon must be aged at least 2 years and must be made in the USA, not just Kentucky.

@@okiepat200 Regular bourbon can as little as 3 months but if you label it straight bourbon it needs 2 years. More than 4 years and it doesn't require an age on the label.

@@keithhoward5928 not even 3 months. As long as it spends any length of time in a new charred oak container, it can be labeled bourbon. 30 seconds? Sure!
Not an alcohol drinker, but you gents always deserve a like and a view! Keep it up!
You guys should react to Irish people trying America’s strongest alcohol
Those are all great premium bourbons. Woodford and I have a past. I drank Woodford Reserve all throughout college. There are a lot of single barrel and specialty bottles like "double oaked" out there if you can find them. some of my favorites under $100 USD inclde Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, Russel's Reserve Single Barrel, Knob Creek 12 Year, Blanton's Single Barrel (hard to find), and Maker's Mark Cask Strength. While not a bourbon, High West Campfire is incredible. It's a blend of bourbon, rye, and scotch whiskies.
Hearing you guys talk about snooker made me look it up. In the US we mainly play billiards or pool. Seems like a cool game to play with the boys.
Jack Daniels and coke. Best drink ever for this Texas woman. Yummy!
4:50 That's a good one. I'm under 30 and my drink of choice has been whiskey for the last 10 years. I'M RONNIE PICKERING.
You should also try some popular Whiskey cocktails. Classics are the Highball, John Collins, Whiskey Sour, Old Fashioned, Mint Julep and maybe just Bourbon and cola. If you do this please don't waste any high dollar Bourbons. Middle of the road is just fine when mixing. When you are outside in the heat the mixed drinks are pretty nice.
Loving this channel!
Great video guys. I played a classic rock playlist softly in the background and made this really fun too watch as i go crazy when i'm drinking and there is no music lol. I would love to see more of this or even just hanging out around the bar talking about whatever over a few drinks. Good vibes and look forward to more 🍻
Awesome setup, gents. Love the art of his Airness, the GOAT.
Mike stroking that wood at the beginning 😆
Love the new bar and studio set-up. Can't play snooker for shite but I would love to join you blokes for drinks and a game or six of darts! Cheers
You appraised the bottle styles. Get a bottle of Blanton's bourbon. Amazing bottle. Also, the Derby horses on top come differently and are collectible.

Michter’s is my favorite bourbon!
Woodford Reserve, the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby. Good for mint juleps. Yes many people have their preference for whiskey or bourbon distillery. Whiskey/bourbon are becoming more popular again.
Really enjoyed this. You guys would be fun to drink with, I think.
Great Podcast/Try Episode!
As always great 👍🏻
My favorite is Crown Royal Black….a bourbon from Canada I believe, but based on Southern styles. It takes a lot for me to admit to me it’s far better than Jack and the rest like Woodford. Drink it with ice - I also like to add Coke.
Love the bar!
Hello from Louisville, Kentucky! My son is a bourbon steward here, and just got his dream job at Michter's! They're sending him to Moonshine University to learn distilling while he's being the tour guide and such for the distillery. Cheers!

Woodford Reserve for a mint julep on Kentucky Derby day is a must!
You guys should do Russells single barrel reserve. Old forester 1920, and Rare Breed. Great whiskeys with lots of flavor. Great channel, keep it up.
Good call on the Kentucky date!!
I used to work for a booze store in Indy called Kahn's. We went to Bardstown one Sunday and picked Buffalo Trace barrels just for our store! It was a great day! We saw Jim Beam and Four Roses and hung out in an old barrelhouse like we were in a commercial. Btw, when I worked at the store, we tried a lot of bourbons, including Pappy Van Winkle. I thought it was too "hot."
I’d like to see Office Blokes try American cannabis

That might be hard to manage over there. Is it even legal there?
Also, @Office Blokes, our local bottle shop (northern Kentucky) has the equipment to etch messages and company brands / messages on to those nice flat bottles of Woodford Reserve. Nothing like handing out monogrammed bottles to customers and vendors at Christmas!
I know Im late but Daz was right. Im in kentucky and know some information he's talking about. I would have loved to join you gentlemen for this. I would have brought one of my most prized posessions, a bottle of Pappy. Anyways, love the videos guys.
@Office Blokes Try You should get some Glencairn whisky glasses for trying Bourbon, Scotch, and other whiskey's. The glass is designed to expose every detail of the whisky to the fullest. The shape focuses the aroma on the nose, to visually appreciate the body of the whisky, designed to allow the whisky to develop in the glass, and provide an overall better experience with the whisky. It's the Eagle Rare that is also from Buffalo Trace.
Buffalo Trace, and Woodford Reserve are both excellent. WR has a distinct caramel flavor.
You like Brandy on ice? Try a Brandy Old Fashioned Slush. It is big in Wisconsin, USA.
I drove a friend 70 miles to spend $1300 for a bottle of Papi. Saving it for kids wedding... Worth double now.

I have tried 1792 before & I loved it. It taste great in Honey/Bourbon/Chocolate ice cream too.
Man, one day I'd love to have a drink with yall
The boys are making a speakeasy
Yes I do believe there is a preference that people have as far as whiskeys are concerned I do believe it has a lot to do with of course the distillery I think I remember hearing something about the oak barrels how the oak barrels I believe they burned the inside of the barrels to give a certain taste so there are variables. 👋🏻 New York.
Nice new setup. You guys don't sit at a bar though. No bar stools?
One of my favorite bastardized cocktails is a Sazerac made with Woodford Reserve (Rye is the traditional Sazerac base, but Woodford makes for a very smooth and flavorful drink)... Cheers mates!
Yes, to be TRUE bourbon, it has to be 51% corn and if you’re a purist, also made solely in Kentucky
small batch basically just means "selective barrels" as the number of barrels selected varies from company to company, but the essence is "somebody went around and checked every barrel to make sure it met some arbitrary quality threshold before including it in the final mix"

I actually should have sent some of Hawai'i's beers when I did the food. I'll have to curate some for you guys.
I love whiskey but I MUCH prefer it on the rocks. Kinda like room temperature coffee, hot is good and cold works too but tepid isn't very nice.
WR Double Oak is my go to.
Not a hard liquor (whiskey) fan, but of the American brands, check Chivas Regal. Smooth and powerful. Cheers from Los Angeles, California.
You guys should try some dark rums.
The sticker on the Woodford bottle means it is real bourbon aged in a 200 year old barrel for at least four years Woodford buys their barrels from George Washington's whiskey Mill that is still operating today always look for that little sticker on the front of the bottle of your whiskeys
You should try Rum it’s my favourite spirit.
Dave might have something about woodford tasting like scotch because I’m a scotch drinker and I love woodford reserve.

You guys have got to try Makers Mark or Johnny Walker or knob Creek
You blokes need to get some Glen Cairn glasses.
Bourbon by definition can be made anywhere in America and have have at least 51% corn.
You guys are thinking of DOP style things that make a big deal of terroir, but that's more of a European thing. I think the US regulations are more centered on making sure people weren't selling bottles of fermented week old bread mixed with 50% stagnant water. :-)
Bourbon sold in the United States must be produced in the U.S. from at least 51% corn and stored in a new container of charred oak. Bourbon can be produced anywhere in the United States, but 95% of Bourbon is made in Kentucky. Tennessee Whiskey is pretty much the same as Bourbon but is made in .... Tennessee. Jack Daniels is an example of Tennessee Whiskey.
For a cheep whiskey I thought Tin Cup was pretty good, and it comes with a steel shot cup. Lol
