    Yes really enjoyed these first 2 episodes. I do hope there will be more to come. Quite inspiring. I just bought the FPL -loving the form factor and 61mp. Just wished could have the option to select 'large histogram' or 'large waveform' in stills mode as you can in cine mode. It should be user choice. Clearly the FPL can display these as they are options in cine mode.

    For me shooting from the summit of Pillar and just below the summit towards Red Pike and Yewbarrow is an incredible scene but I'd also have to say The Ogwen Vally, Snowdonia isbthe ultimate photography playground unless you live further north in the Highlands. But for me, living in Yorkshire I'd drive past the peaks and go to snowdonia everytime. Not that I dislike the peaks but the stunning areas get so busy it can be impossible sometimes to get a location to yourself where I feel in the mountains you separate the tourists from those who go that extra mile up into the mountains and you end up with the place to yourself most of the time if you avoid the popular mountains. I always find taking photos of the best mountains from the ones accross from it ensures you get the place to yourself. I just like to get away from people best I can

    As a Scot I should say the Highlands but in fact, I'll vote for the vastly under-rated area of Galloway, just across the water from the Lakes. It has everything from coasts to mountains and forests, quaint villages, lochs, rivers, historical sites, the lot. And hardly any tourists!

    Cheers Alan! Actually we were supposed to do the Highlands in December but COVID stopped play at the last minute. Still on the list but maybe in the spring now. I've never shot in Galloway, but it looks superb. Any particular favourite locations? Tim@Sigma

    @@sigmauk The Mull of Galloway has fantastic cliffs, The Galloway Forest has acres of forest, lakes and rivers. The area north and east of "The Merrick" has wilderness to rival the northwest highlands. And the Southern Coast around Kirkcubright is a coastal photographer's wet-dream. More specific locations include Port Logan, the Water of Fleet Viaduct (not quite Ribbledale but still good), Caerlaverock castle is well known, and with good reason. And just west of the A74 lies Moffat with the Devil's Beeftub (a challenge to photograph!) and the Grey Mare's Tail waterfall(200ft+) with Loch Skeen above. And that's not including all the little towns with no trace of "the man" about them, like a throwback to the 60s and 70s... and historic castles, churches and gardens galore. Sorry, I may just have gotten carried away there! ;-)

    Not too far from Padley Gorge, just in Sheffield, close to Redmires Reservoir is Wyming Brook. A day or two after rainfall makes for impressive fast flowing waterfalls. Great series, hope there are more episodes to come. 👍

    Loving these episodes 👍. Plenty of great locations off the beaten path down in the south west, this time of year though you’ll be getting the right light along the Jurassic coast - hugely popular though. Less well known go quantock hills/exmoor region, no one goes there and yet so much to see! Kilve, porlock wier, valley of the rocks…also I believe one of your ambassadors are down that way too

    Amazing thanks! South west is definitely on the agenda, and your suggestions are very useful as I don’t know the area very well. Kilve and Porlock Weir both look great! Will get down there as soon as I can. Cheers!! Tim@Sigma

    I do love these shots, and Padley Gorge is certainly on my 'to do' list, but my main concern is that I'm a wheelchair user (well, for the purposes of my photography a mobility scooter actually). Would I actually be able to access the place and if so, get any really nice shots do you think? Also, as a suggestion for a location, how about Malham Cove?

  • @sigmauk

    @sigmauk

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Ash, many thanks for the comment. Unfortunately Padley Gorge has poor wheelchair access - there are a few steps down from the roadside and the paths are fairly bumpy. Plus the foot bridges across the brook are too narrow for a chair. It’s a shame because the oaks and that beech tree are only about 100 yards from the road. However, the second location at Surprise View is very accessible and I believe the path from the car park to the viewpoint is wheelchair friendly. Worth double-checking that before you go, but from memory you should be okay. Monsal Head is another very nice viewpoint, especially at sunset, and the best shot is pretty much from the car park so very accessible. Tim@Sigma
