Keep in mind, a lot of these guys are HUGE. As an example, the guy who ran down the interception from his own end zone, DK Metcalf, is 6 foot 5 and 230 pounds and still has world class speed.

Ben Watson's chase down of Champ Bailey would like a word on your take.. Watson was a TE who chased down a CB, a HoF CB.. Also Larry Allen's tackle on that Saints Linebacker in '94.

As an NFL fan that fell in love with European football(soccer), it's nice to see a football fan enjoying American football.

American football is the only sport where a guy that could be a competitive sumo wrestler would be on the field with a guy who could be a competitive Olympic sprinter. Soccer is more athletic than is generally realized in America, but the aerobic/stamina requirements of soccer tends to limit just how big and powerful a guy can be. These guys are often huge and fast and strong in ways that people outside the sport have a hard time imagining. Like try to imagine whole teams of guys as athletic as Zlatan. It's like that. There are things that are fouls in football, but they don't have anything to do really with what is a foul in soccer except going after a man's head. You can't grab the head or neck, and you especially aren't allowed to grab the face mask of the helmet. The rest of the things that are fouls generally have to do with hitting a guy who doesn't have the ball in a way he can't defend himself. No hitting a guy without the ball in the back, or below his knees, or things like that.

One of the most impressive things that goes unnoticed is how accurate qbs are from distance. Placing the ball perfectly hitting a receiver in stride from 50+ yards takes ridiculous talent

but you arent though its differen throwing around with friends or possibly playing highschool or colllege ball these are qbs being chased down by 300+ pound people and trying to fit the ball over or between 2-3 people whos job is to break up that pass. @@Michael-gy4gd

As a football (soccer) fan who really liked watching goalkeepers, when I first got into american football what mesmerized me the most was watching receivers with great hands like Victor Cruz and Desean Jackson (as an Eagles fan I watched mainly NFC east games). Nowadays my favourite part is probably watching good offensive line schemes, and creative defensive blitz lol

Victor Cruz was great. At least you recognized Eagles' rival players(Giants is my team but it's been bad for years).

Another thing is the weight of the pads. People underestimate how much they limit and bog you down, which makes these plays that much more impressive

Lowkey it don’t weigh you down that much it just gets you hot. Like it’s obviously gonna make you slower but I mean your body gets used to it after a few weeks. But like the helmet is the worst. My head gets hot as hell in their back when I played bruh.

The play that starts at 5:18 in this video was nicknamed the "Beastquake" run because the roar of the crowd actually registered on nearby seismographs!

I went to an NFL games in London many years ago and the soccer fans back then made fun of American football because they wore pads. They now know a player needs pads to play football. It's a 100 times tougher game than soccer.

Exactly, without pads it’s been scientifically proven that on large hits you would sustain injuries as bad as a car crash.

It's absolutely insane that half of these plays were from Julio Jones (11 for Falcons, 2 for Titans)

A lot of these football players did Track & Field in their off seasons in middle school, high school and college. They are all around athletes with World Class Speed and agility while carrying crazy amounts of muscle mass.

There are dudes in the nfl who are power lifter sprinter and acrobat all in one its insane

These athletes are beasts! Many do multiple sports in highschool. I’ve known football players who do track to help stay in shape since football is in the fall and track is in spring.

Is the offensive lineman they would always make US do wrestling and since I was a relatively fast offense of lineman, I did track and field

They're so nimble and I love it when they do gymnastics in the field.

I’ve probably seen this video 40 different times and watched about 35 different people react to it… It never gets old! Seeing the looks on peoples faces every time they see this stuff for the first time is absolutely priceless!

After you had mentioned "determination" there is one additional item - from the perspective of someone that played sports from a young age - that American athletes are taught. "Sacrifice" is the word. We are taught that you go into every play fearless and willing to throw your body on the line for your team. Doesn't matter the sport: baseball, soccer, basketball, football, etc etc. You take a ball to the ribs to stop it from going beyond the infield, you chance that ankle or knee to make sure that ball hoops, you take that awkward landing for a high bouncing ball to cross it perfectly in front of the goal, you go head on in a collision with what would become a State All-Star running back equivalent to a 40mph car wreck with pads hitting so hard you audibly hear the pain "ooooooh" from all the other players in practice because they know just how hard that hit was... and then you get up and do it again and again and again until you have left it all on the field or were dragged off on a stretcher.

Only the ball has to break the plane of the white line and be in bounds, so the first play is a touch down because he held the ball out in bounds long enough to break the goal line.

You said it perfectly when you said like a truck. There is a saying in Football that if you get ran over, then "you got trucked!"...

Our high school soccer team we put american football defensive backs on defense. Works really well.

At 9:30 the man who does the flip is golden tate and he’s infamous for taunting his opponents at every opportunity. The flip wasn’t necessary he was just showing off

1:10 I think what gets lost in the Driver play was I think that was his last season or close to it. He was 35 during this play and that's ancient for his position most of those 49er players were 10 years younger than him.. 1:44 The Heineke play stands out because he was on the street going to school before this game and got called up by Washingtons coach Ron Rivera because he had played with him in seasons past with the Panthers, this was a playoff game and he hadn't been on the field in over a season maybe more, so he was crazy out of shape for this game.. 4:18 The Marion Barber run gets its respect because I've only seen maybe a couple plays like this in my 35 years of being a fan. Barry Sanders, did this on a regular basis, but from a pure power back like Barber, it was not done to THIS extent. Breaking tackles from legends like Junior Seau on this play and Asante Samuel. Marshawn Lynch, whose highlight is in here, did almost something similar vs Denver in '14 SB rematch vs Denver but he got tackled in the endzone (kzread.info/dash/bejne/pn1rycGgfrmTY9o.htmlsi=0u9w8SLUO9DrVBhZ&t=645). In this play Barber doesn't. He showed "beast mode", which Lynch made famous in the Saints highlight, 4 years earlier in this play vs New England. And its a term American football fans will use still today, well after Lynch has retired. But this play here was like a prequel movie.. 5:20 I think 4:18 explains this plays significance, it was Lynch's coming out party game, this was vs the SB champ Saints, in this game NO had the better record (11-5), but due to the playoff format, Seattle was the division winner for the West, NO was not the division champ for their own division so by the rules, division champs hosts the game. But few picked Seattle, who was 7-9 a nothing special team, to hang with the SB champs. But they did, and "Beast mode" was born.. 5:43 this is a great and a depressing highlight because this was Barry Sanders scoring in the only playoff game he ever won, this was his 3rd year, we all thought more moments like this would come but it didn't for him. Probably a top 2 or 3 greatest RB of all time and he never got further than this win vs this Dallas team, a year away from their dominant '90's era team. But true Barry Sanders fan won't note runs like this that justify his greatness, its the 1 yard 2 yard runs on the road when his run plays are blown up by the defense, but he breaks the ankles of his opponents All pro safety, jukes their pro bowl linebacker and breaks the tackle of their HoF DT, ALL IN THE SAME PLAY to make what qas a -5 yard loss into a 1 yard gain. Something NO one else has done with the regularity he did since his time. 7:32 pssshhh, theres better Barkley highlights than this.. 8:35 Michael Vick, he came out at a time when the game wasn't ready for his style. If he'd came out a decade later he'd be a Hall of Famer 1st ballot.. 8:45 Look up Ben Watson Champ Bailey. Its a case of a much bigger guy, chasing a much more smaller, faster guy a longer distance.. These are good highlights but a lot of older football gets left out of here.. Earl Campbell runs, Bo Jackson, and NO Deion Sanders highlights?? Defense definetly gets left out of this video.

Soccer is 2D, American football is 3D.

I can't remember the exact statistics of it... but I think it was close to a 99% drop off rate once you get to the high school level.. like only 1% of high school football players are good enough to get a full ride scholarship to college, then of that 1%, 99% of them will not go on to the NFL... meaning from Pee-Wee football to Jr. high ball, to JV high school ball, to Varsity ball, to college, to NFL, every jump in level is just filtering to get the best of the best of the best of the best... to the point that "proper athlete" doesn't come close to describing the players... at that point, they're closer to superheroes than they are human

Where I grew up, in Texas, the guys that were real promising were sent to gymnastics, ballet etc. in addition to two a days.

quick note, the orange things on the edges of an endzone count as the endzone. if someone can knock one down from the front with football in hand without any part of their body touching the out of bounds area, it's counted as a touchdown

These are mostly recent plays, if they went further back through history, there are plays that would put these to shame. There was one of a man; Gary Anderson who gets to the 10, jumps over 2 Miami Dolphins fully standing up and lands in the endzone, like Air Jordan. People make a big deal of the one-handed catch, John Jefferson of the Chargers did it as a regular thing and wore no tacky gloves. Etc.

@BANGSO I know as an American we get made fun of a little bit intentionally like the World Cup for example. But just take a second to imagine if we had all of our top athletes playing futbol. Instead of all of our elite athletes being spread out between football, basketball, baseball, hockey etc. Imagine a 6 foot 9 Lebron James with a vertical leap of 44 inches (1.12 Meters) and lighting quick reflexes standing in goal, like who is scoring on that man. Or a Tyreek Hill breakaway who has a max sprint speed of 37 KM/H (in full football pads and a helmet btw). Like what defender is ever catching him. If we ever manage to get all of our elite athletes into futbol we’d be a real contender for the World Cup I think

Most of these small hits and falls would put us normal people on our azz, broken. And the pop right up for the next play. But….the quality of life after nfl isn’t the greatest for a lot of these superhumans. I truly think nfl and nba players could be the greatest athletes on the planet.

If you hurdle and kick someone in the face, they'll call "unnecessary roughness" but only if the foot hits them. The example I'm thinking of was right to the facemask. I'm not sure what'd happen if it was to the shoulder or something else.

Actually, there was 1. Don't know how u missed it given how long his hair is.

Well the thing is some of them are lucky but the ones that do look like he still takes a lot of skill because it's so much hand-eye coordination that goes into plus you need to have that hand strength even hold on to them lucky catches when you smack that ground it smacks it's basically two trucks at 35 mph hitting each other for 16 games a season

You learn to jump that high to avoid someone trying to kill you.

For some reason, Americans are very loyal and passionate about their chosen Universities/Colleges. I think it is because we are a union of separate states that have at least couple of schools within each of them. And we all have pride for our alma maters!!!

It’s probably been said but on the first play you didn’t understand why it was a touchdown. It was hard to see at that angle but only the tip of the ball has to pas the plane of the goal line to count. The player knew exactly where that was so where that was so if you watch his leap he twists his body so that his hand with the ball was moving towards the end zone line. The referee could see it at the right angle and could see the tip cross the line. So at that point it didn’t matter where his body was

It can be difficult to get a sense of scale since *none* of them are small.

Incase you still don't know: jkl keys J rewind 10 seconds. L fast fwd 10 seconds. K is pause/play. Left/right arrow keys do 5 seconds. Settings gear in video let's you do playback speed.

In regards to safety, a lot of things are "overlooked" because of the helmets and pads these guys wear. Under those jerseys they are basically wearing body armor. Thanks to modern technology they can keep it compact and lightweight as possible but they are still protected quite well. There are many moves in the NFL that can be dangerous and thise are taken very seriously. Facemask is a big one, grabbing the bars of the facemask because it can whip the head to the side and injure the neck. Helmet to helmet tackles and clipping are big ones too.
