I am always anxious to see where you two sweet people are going to land. Bristol is a great place very close to Johnson City. Glad you decided to visit such a grand place. Take care.

Thanks for posting this. It couldn't have come at a better time after the day that we, that's we as in Lead Mines Rescue, had. Helps to take my mind off what happened. The Ricky Martin comment haven't thought about him in a while.

I was raised in Bristol TN. You showed and mentioned Uncle Sams. When I was a kid, it was a Woolworth Store and had a luncheonette which remained until a couple years ago that served real ice cream sodas, burgers, etc. It was called "Broad Street on State Retro Diner" which still has a Facebook Page.

Seeing that Bristol sign brings back so many memories. I went there every 4th of July with my grandparents. I have so much family in the areas you travel around. If you know any Belcher's they are probably my family. My grandfather had 12 siblings and there's a lot of them with that last name.

My dad was born in Bristol and my grandfather had two farms there. I got to visit relatives years ago that lived there and Gate city and Kingsport. My great grandfather lived at Big Moccasin Creek, but was gone long before I was born. My dad was a Wolfe and my grandmother was an Alley, which I imagine there are still those in those family lines in the area still today.

In '85 or '86 I went to Viking Hall and met Conway Twitty and Gary Morris after a concert. Conway gave me a signed album and sang Hello Darlin' to me while on stage. I was standing down front in a crowd and they cleared everyone away but me and he sang. I have the photos somewhere.

We have some BBQ wars of our own as well - here in middle SC we are mustard base sauce, while our NC neighbors to our north have the pepper and vinegar sauce. Me, I don't discriminate - I love them all!

April 1st BMS will have the dirt track race. Glad I don't have to clean up after fans there anymore. The first time they did that there was a red fog of dirt that night that was awful. Think the passenger rail will ever come back to Bristol ?
