The 2014 World Championship from Coventry Stadium.. 2 Paul Harrison is beaten by fellow front row starter 16 Matt Newson, who takes an early lead as the green flag drops.. Both Newson and Harrison clear the turn 1-2 bend, avoiding the carnage that was unfolding behind them.. 4 Dan Johnson appears to get slightly out of shape, catching 318 Rob Speak, sending Speak wide and into the armaco.. Speak was to catch a fence post, snapping the front axle on the 318 car in the process.. As the race was red flagged, the many cars caught up the carnage, were given time to effect repairs for the re-start, as the armaco also needed repairing.. The luckless Speak was to sit out the World Final and the rest of the meeting, suffering too much damage.. On the re-start, it was once again |Newson that took up the running.. 4 Dan Johnson, tipped by many to win the World Final, was in no mood for playing about, and soon passes Harrison, in pursuit of Newson.. Johnson makes his move, and despatches \Newson to take up the running up front.. 150 Mick Sworder and 515 Frankie Wainman Jnr spend much of the race trading places, which allows 217 Lee Fairhurst and 55 Craig Finnikin to muscle in on the action.. Finnikin reels in second placed Sworder, giving the 150 racer a gentle tap wide, barely loosing anytime in his pursuit of race leader Johnson.. Defending World Champion 1/84 Tom Harris had made good progress from the back of the grid, but was still some distance from challenging for the lead.. With pretty much a clear track in front of them, could Finnikin close in on Johnson before running out of laps.. Using his trusty armchair, Fiinnikin easily reels in Johnson, and in a text book move, forces the 4 car wide, sweeping through into the lead.. A lead that Finnikin was not to relinquish, cruising to a stunning victory to become the Brisca F1 World Champion 2014..
