Bringing Out The BIG Hay Bales for Winter!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Today is an exciting day for the dairy herd, because they are getting the large square bales from out west! This is some really nice hay and the cows produce well after eating it. It’s always exciting to watch the cows realize that they are getting something they haven't had for awhile. Thank you all for watching! We hope you enjoy the video!

I remember at -30 my brother and I would take a big sled made out of plywood put 15 small square bales, and 4 sacks of feed and cow manger sweepings and pull it like a team of horses to feed the heifers about a third of a mile one way. Then we could let tractor warm up a little more on the block heaters before cleaning barns. It wasn't all that bad. Now it's a fond memory. Back then we didn't have the heated shop that we have today.
I like winter and taking hay to the hay auctions
I spend the winter working on tillage equipment getting it ready for spring
Wife and I are 73. We live full time in our motor home and snowbird in Naples, FL from early November until May. Not like our days growing up on the family farms in the 1950s and 60s. Wife was in south central MN and I was in SE WI. I liked winter.
I love ❤️ winter!!! I 💕 the snow, I like to Crochet 🧶 inside on real cold days. I like taking walks in the woods and just enjoying Mother Nature any day 30 degrees and above. Growing up in Wisconsin I loved snowmobiling, especially thru the woods. Loved living out in the country - Now I live in Illinois in the western suburbs of Chicago, moved here almost 30 years ago for work. But I’m still a Wisconsin Badgers fan and Go Greenbay Packers!!!!! Still love ❤️ Wisconsin!!!!! Love 💕 your channel!!!!!!!!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🥰🥰🥳🥳🥳
The first day of spring is the best part of winter.
I don't mind the cold but I hate the snow and it's really hard on the cattle. I feed cattle, cut fire wood , logs , sawmill, repair and build things. Take care be safe and well.
Even here, in Texas, the best thing about winter is the day it ends.
Back when I use to farm [25 yrs ago] we farmed just like you. Our hurdle was the snow belt of New York living on "mountain it was a mile up the road to the farm". Throw snow into air and watch it blow to the bottom sometimes. Many times snow with green grass at the bottom of hill. When you can't see your hand in front of your face. Winter a hate love relationship. The smells of winter linger even now. Many winter piling manure because too much snow. A snow blower a must. 80 to 100 in normal. Wind and sub zero temp what made it hard. I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. It made me and my boys what we are today! I just wish more people could understand what we had and you have. I "laugh" at your snow but love the content. Many memories. Many stories.
best part of winter is when its over
When we had cows my dad would put bedding in the part of the pole shed with a electric fence for the cows to lay in with a heated water tank then sometimes we would bedded their stalls and they stay in the barn for the night and cleaned gutters every day now that cows are no longer here we just sell big bales to people who are interested
Loved winter as a kid, sledding and making caves in the drifts. Later was able to cross country ski. But our lack of snow slowed that down significantly. Now just enjoy watching it make the dead ground disappear and my husband trying to clear as little of the windshield and windows of the cars. Think he does it just to irritate me. But one of my weird enjoyments has always been driving my stick shift cars to work. Very exhilarating when I would get to where I was going. Have only had 2 times winter did me in. One in a blinding evening snow storm when a car quite a ways ahead of me kept disappearing and then suddenly showed up (His kept stalling I guess). I buried my little rambler in the ditch and had to get it pulled out later. The second was when I was on a totally clear road, no snow and I tried to pass the car in front of me. I hit a patch of ice that had formed from a hilly driveway and I ended up doing a roller coaster in the field. Did mess up the front wheel, but was able to get to work.
Always plenty to do. Never a dull day, maybe some not so great but, never boring!
As you get older, winter hurts a bit more but I could never live somewhere there's no snow. I use to love winter when I logged..... Sure Enjoy your videos and seeing that old Oliver out earning her keep....That's from a Red guy.lol...Thanks guys.......
Your cows are not that hungry. Exactly what you want to see. I like ice fishing and snowmobiling. Favorite thing to do is just go for a walk and watch 🦌 after everything is done
Hey, guys! I accidentally came across your KZread video, after watching it, I decided to subscribe to your channel. I am from Russia, I live near the city of Nizhny Novgorod in a rural area. Your topic about the farm and agriculture is familiar and interesting to me. My whole childhood was spent on the farm where my parents worked. I myself work in the production of aerated concrete blocks, but I always like to look at the work of farmers. Rural life is difficult, but beautiful. You have such a cool agricultural machinery. Good luck with your business! I'm waiting for new videos.
Great video, love watching the cows munching on hay.
Very nice hay. Good work guys.
Farmers are the luckiest people in America! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I would be happier being busy farming year round, but life is not there yet. So I spend a lot of time on the ice fishing, and taking naps. My ice fishing shack is is my winter happy place. Peace, Quiet, and meditation is good healing for anyone.
The best channel on you utube

i like when winter is over i like being outside on my bicycle
After driving a truck for 42 winters, the best part of winter now is heading SOUTH!!!
Great video. 3:55 - Regarding hitting anything, I had a boss who used to say, “speed compensates!” My favorite part of winter is Spring. I’d rather sweat than shiver.
As a kid on the farm the wheel barrow was our skid steer with a plank out of the barn onto the side of the spreader. Every morning we needed to clean out the outside feeding stalls. It made me who I am.
My favorite winter hobby is being in a warm place watching Gierok farming videos!

Me too!
I'm with you. I like it to get cold and stay that way until the end of March. Better to have three weeks of mud than three months of it.
As kids we would hollow out the real deep snow drifts after a big storm, making large caverns with tunnels and such...stayed out all day til almost dark then home to a warm house, a good meal and good sleep.
Enjoy your videos soo much please keep them up. Thank You
I made a set of chains from an old pair of tractor chains for my case skidsteer, it's like a bulldozer now. I live about 35 miles from you to the west and have the same amount of snow.
I watch your videos and I am reliving that snow all over again.

Hey buddy appreciate the video don't care too much for the snow although it is beautiful when it first comes down keep them videos coming thanks
The dogs are lucky to live on your farm.
We have a lot more snow in ND . Take Care
Being short, walking through snow was the best thigh work out all winter. Otherwise, fresh snow, blue, completely unspoiled by footprints or skittering leaves, sparkling in the moonlight is the most beautiful thing on the planet.

Ditto.
I've never experienced snow like you get here in Australia 🇦🇺 we do get it.
I look forward to winter every year, like you said a little slower pace. I can do without the fog we've been having this year.
Dad would have let you know if you hit anything bet he is like my Dad used to be he could find any microscopic scratch you put on.......lol
My son thinks it’s easier for us to farm in the winter. It’s cold and it’s easier to take care of chickens because they aren’t outside. We haven’t gotten snow yet but I’m sure that will change. I’m kind your dad, I like it to snow in one week and that’s it for the rest of the year!
I love when it snows. Then we can go chase some mountain lions. Ride the four-wheelers in it and it makes everything look so much more beautiful your guys's Farm look so beautiful in the winter time I really enjoy watching all your videos I learn something every time can't wait to see more videos take care and God bless to the gierok Farm and cows
My favorite thing about winter is when it ends. "SPRING"
Winter? I love it! I love Xmas and I love snow and winter brings them both. . I’ve got good equipment and that makes snow removal even better.
71 retired.used to love it. Haven't had snow yet this year warm this winter 30s 40s.ocasional 50 so far. I do remember 36 below few times. 20 below few weeks normal.not last few yrs. Upstate ny. Miss it sometimes.
I myself like Winter. I do construction as well as farm and the cold makes me appreciate the heat and the warmth of my wood stove and the inside time with my family all that much more.
Winter was always special as a kid. Like a great adventure. Spent time at my Gramps homestead and I was the designated shovel guy. Gramp would put the chains on his Dodge and off we would go. He carried mail for years so even after he retired he always wanted to check the neighbors on his route. We’d swap a story and then back home to fill up the wood burner with some apple firewood.
I live for the wintertime... I live in Arizona... love your videos.. thank you for sharing

Thanks for watching!
In eastern Canada on our small livestock farm my favorite part is on a cold stormy night after cattle are bedded with fresh straw and the feed bunks are full, that gives me a great sense of accomplishment. My 11 year old son says his favorite part of winter is plowing snow with our new Holland 170 skid steer.
I milked for 13 years at my uncles farm I love watching the videos I. Still farm cash crops Love all the different daily smells of winter farming I can smell the alfalfa and corn silage and the manure being spread with a touch of diesel exhaust on a cold day ❤
Seeing your Saint playing in the snow reminds me of when we had our Saints and how much they enjoyed being outside in the winter. Winter is certainly their environment, ours used to love to lay down outside during a snowstorm.
I don't mind winter except for the Frozen net wrap especially with the silage bales and the occasional hard starting tractor if I forget to plug it in
Loved seeing the dogs playing in the snow.
My favorite part of winter is a nice warm wood fire. Also I like being able to concentrate on caring for the animals without having to worry about tending to the crops. Everything hunkers down and rests. Some of the Swiss immigrants surnamed Ragatz were the first to settle in my Sauk County, Troy township back in the 1830's. One of them wrote down what a shock the Wisconsin winters were in contrast to the Alpine winters they were accustomed to back in Switzerland. They lost considerable livestock, hogs in particular, during the harsh winter their first year. They soon learned how to adapt to the new climate and we, their descendants, rest comfortably warm as do our livestock. It's one of the joys of winter. God's people still learn to adapt to climate change. One part of his wonderful grace. I should have said earlier it was not Troy township but was Honey Creek just beyond our property in Troy.
My favorite part of winter is when it's over. Lol
Woot first view. You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work
Back in my very young years there were no snow blowers at least on the farm i worked on. It was a blade plow or a v plow and I spent many hours as a young lad of maybe 11 or 12 with the H and a V plow/chains on the rears and go at it. Thanks for your videos as it brings back many memories.
Your canine supervisors are hard at it , I had German shepherds and they used to love to play in the snow . The snow gives time , you have to consider your moves , make sure there's a fire lit , cos snow strips body heat faster than most things . Your beautiful farm takes on a great atmosphere . Stay warm , great video 👍🇬🇧
Love to pheasant hunt in the snow! Rather have snow than rain.
Always had fun with the bobcat pushing manure and yes put chains on Ollie along with a NEW SEAT! Lol poor thing. 😆😆
Love ice fishing but it’s not getting cold enough here in MI to make ice . Might as well jump back to spring
Here in Northern California, we haven't been able to enjoy winter much. We've got atmospheric rivers hitting us with storm after storm, and we're getting flooded out. I'll take spring and summer, thank you. 🙂
Been a rough winter for us here in south East Kansas. Didn’t have hardly any hay production this year and almost no carry over from last year. Hope next year is better.
Love your videos!
I live in town. Best part about winter, is how the sidewalks look after they are taken care of after a big snowstorm.
My favorite time of the year wish we had snow God Bless you all TerryD.
Hard workers - keep up the good work on the farm 💯
Love the videos keep up the great work.
I'm older and retired but enjoy watching how you guys run ur farm. I worked for a neighbor many years we milked holstein and brown Swiss .. we didn't have as nice equipment as you guys do. I remember climbing the upright silo and forking silage down the shute then go feed it all by Manuel means.
I love watching you guys work you two work together so well. Be safe and God Bless.
Just want to say how much I enjoy your channel. I didn’t grow up on a farm but have some great memories of working on my best friend and neighbors farm. They had a dairy farm and also raised some chickens for eggs and meat.
Greetings from New Jersey. This is first time I watched your video. Winter is my favorite season. Your farm is awesome and peaceful looking. I no you farmers do alot and keeping busy is a norm. Thanks for sharing see you next time.👍👍
78 ° light breeze .. Thin clouds ..shorts and bare foot ..painting deck... No have a heavy coat Did the same in Pennsylvania. Dairy farm ..till I was 19 Joined military .. 20 years ..retired to sand and.sun ..keep up the good educational videos Prayers to you all Wives and youngest 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I agree with your dad dry and cold, we don’t use near as much bedding as well, also I prefer the ground to be frozen before it snows so we can haul manure, get to the woods to skid logs, and the driveways stay frozen to haul grain with the semi, but we take what we get eh
I love the winter gives me time to get caught up on repairs work on my antique john deere pullers cows seem to like being out of the weather barn stays 50 with fans on I feed out some alfalfa balage last year cows really enjoyed it. This year been grinding my own feed ear corn dry molasses oats n rye save on cost. I have seen alot of old ways coming back quickly the boys and myself look forward to every video you share
Winter is a great time of year, especially when you live in Florida! Having lived in Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and Utah. during my career, I have had the joy of driving and shoveling enough snow. I have to admit, now the only snow that I enjoy is what I see on T.V. Another great video....
Always liked burning the wood stove in winter now we also have an outside boiler but still enjoy lighting the back room inside stove and watch it get light while having coffee, been married 54 years and wife likes sitting by the stove when it’s snowing and staying inside.
Agree with your dad on dry/cold winter being better than the wet. Sitting here in W. Wash, I think it applies to humans as well as cattle. At least this guy ;)
Here on our Western Pennsylvania beef operation that was formerly dairy, we operate much like you folks . Cattle work still takes up two to three hours of work everyday we still find time to clean out fence rows and do other woods work, plus shop work and keeping our custom ground feed business going winter other than Christmas weekend has been pretty nice in Western PA. Our precipitation has been coming more in the form of rain rather than snow, which of course we don't have to shovel or push out of the way or pile up. The only thing is we are dealing with mud I always say when it gets like this do you have a winter like this everyday you get th that's not causing weather issues he's one more day closer to spring I'll take the rain over the snow.
Aaron & Family-I attempt to like every one of your videos…even if I don’t end up watching the whole segment…I know it’s pure gold. Takes me back to my childhood on my grandparents farm. We are predominantly an Allis Chalmers/AGCO/Massey Ferguson family…ain’t got not nothing against green tractors though 😁😄 Love a New Holland bailer too
You guys are great
I remember doing all those things when I had cattle. Since I sold them and just do crops, things are a lot easier in the winter, but I do miss them.
Enjoyed the video guys as always keep them coming 👍
When feeding big squares, cut the strings on the bottom or end of the bale. Then you don't need to pull the knots through when removing the twine. It is much easier.
When we milked cows loved being in the barn and milking in the winter. It just felt warm and peas full
Like all of it.. I like the cows and I always like to see how different areas do and ur equipment as well.. you guys need a bigger bobcat with tracks as well..
Almost 30 thousand subs. U guys are awesome. Watching from Maine.
I am 82 now and retired of course but I really enjoy watching the St. Bernard. When our children were young through the years we had three Saint Bernards and it’s amazing how the inherited traits carried through that breed. Our dogs acted just the way yours does. They were also very good companions for the children and protective as well. I like how you use good agronomic practices on your farm. It’s very obvious that you care for the land in a way that protects the soil from erosion. I would call you good stewards of the land.

Great video! Northern PA dealt with the sub zero and wind over Christmas. Has been warm, 40-50 , so muddy, would be nice to have mud freeze and some snow. Pouring rain now. Happy New Year to all!
I love getting tons of snow so I can use the big ol' Honda snowblower instead of marching back and forth across the driveway with a shovel. Plus snowshoeing when possible.
That's some premium looking hay!!!
My 7810 starts good in the cold also. Used it on the manure spreader for 20 winters. One of the best tractors John Deere ever made.
Like it froze without the mud lol
Great video’s. I love watching your videos.
Used to love winter....I see you enjoy it much more than wife & I. We milked for 20 yrs. Know the daily grind. That skid steer has some neat moves. Enjoyed the vid.
I wish we could get some snow in Tennessee! Love watching your operation.
Thanks for another entertaining and educational video. You are right, winter is a time to slow down and reset. Always loved doing barn chores in the winter.
I love large square bales. Easy to handle and stack inside the barn as well. I am definitely envious of the snow. We had a couple of inches right at Christmas and 30 mile winds that made tremendous drifts here but that has been all we have had.
back when l started farming in the late 60 and on in the 70s farming full time chore was your main year round income and soybeans was my only cash crop fed all my corn oats and hay to my livestock l ran 40 beef cows and 40 sows and feed out the pigs and sold the calves in December. What l what to ask you is l see you use the skid loader every day!! So did you all ways have a skid loader or did you have some kind of utility tractor?? Back when l started farming every farmer had a small tractor like a D14 or 17 farmall 300 or 350 JD 2010 or 2020 Every tractor company had a setup for choring and no body had a cab on there chore tractor!! that came later thanks for your comment and l will be watchin!!!!!!
Winter is a great time
Just an excellent channel Left upper Michigan in 1978. For central Florida No more winter for us
Snow here is getting so deep it is getting harder to get in the field. With those hills you have it must really be getting bad.
