The first night with my kitten was a sleepless night. He hid at the back of the TV and would not come out until we went to bed, then he cried until I went downstairs and only calmed down when I cuddled him up and decided to sleep on settee all night, but every time I tried to sleep he decided he wanted to play.

A robust "shadow grey" kitten with an "apple" shaped head. Beautiful build, and now that he's acclimated, he seems properly self-assured.

Yes he's nervous, strange house, no momma, lots unsecured, and humans watching him and standing up all the time. If you want to make friends with a cat then sit down or even lay down, so that you are less intimidating.

He is a beautiful Kittie. While you were super prepared. A couple of tips; cats don't like strong smells. Don't put the litter so close to the food. Additionally, the water bowl shouldn't be next to the food either. Finally, you don't want to leave food out all day as you indicated. British shorthairs are predisposed to obesity. You want to measure the food as instructed for each meal. Enjoy your new kitten! Once he settles you will find his energy & playfulness never ending!😻

That's common. The litter will be moved later, but remember right now he's tiny and scared, and it is good to have the litterbox right at hand.

Kittens should be allowed as much food as they want. They should be eating constantly at that age. Litter box in the same room is required at first, but always at the opposite ends of the room. Move it later.

Well ...what a super kitten you have there, and I'm impressed by the effort you made to provide such a cat friendly environment. He's a lucky boy, and if my experience is anything to go by he'll reward you amply. Ours is 14 years old now, about the size of a puma and mostly adorable; frequently underfoot but capable of vanishing mysteriously into tiny spaces, which is a neat trick for a yard of cat. She's a tortoiseshell-and-white which makes for a very striking, magnificent beastie with oodles of character, but I think you might have dodged a potential attitude problem by going for a grey tom. ;-)

Thank you Nadine. Yes he’s left alone 3 days a week when I have to go into the office. But my son comes home for lunch so he’s not alone all day. I get up earlier on those days and play with him, I leave him plenty of toys and the tv on. He’s been very good so far 😺
