Bring Me The Horizon's Oli Sykes on the "future emo" of 'DiE4u'

Музыка

Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes talks to NME about the hyper-pop meets "future emo" of their new single 'DiE4u', its cinematic new video filmed in Ukraine, dealing with the 'mistress' of addiction, fighting for a better future for the next generation, empathy, what to expect from the next chapters of their 'Post Human' project, and their ambitious upcoming arena tour.

so are you saying if you dont like something that automatically makes you a hater? Also just because someone works really hard on something doesn't make it good. Lastly if you listen to the song you can tell most of the work on that song was production work. It wasn't really doing anything creative or groundbreaking. I like Ollie but it makes me laugh when people are like its a masterpiece. It's like everything Ollie puts out is genius and people say it because its Ollie. They can put out trash just like anyone else.

I know, it's crazy how not every band wants to make the same fucking music their whole career like I know its a lot to take in you might have to sit down -- but like fr main thing being its their music, they can do what they want with it, and just some interpersonal advice try not to take a comment you find on youtube personally cus its honestly embarrassing for you lol k hun?

You heal up, make up for your mistakes. But still... the feeling is either always present or it will come up everything in one moment. So you get in a circle of secretly falling for your addiction, trying to forget what you've done. There are only a few feelings stronger than guilt of disappointing the ones most close to you.

Man, I feel that. Somedays I really start to feel the shit my brain is telling me is true, everyone really does just hate me, and I end up so fucking close to making a few calls and trying to find a connect again. The fact that all it'd take is one too many bad days, and I'd be back on pills, just pissing everything away again is terrifying. Like, I know I'm stronger now, because if I wasn't the few little relapses I've had wouldn't have been so little, but the fact that they happened at all kinda shows me that something worse could happen down the road. The thought of killing myself isn't enough to keep it at bay, but hurting the people I love, and who love me for some fucking reason, that shit scares me enough to keep from going back. It's fucked up how much some shit I kicked 8 fucking years ago still fucks with my head.

@@peterconey I'm sorry, man. I know that shit hurts, and I know how easy it is to just accept all the blame. We've gotta remember, though, that even though alot of it is our fault, we didn't choose to be addicts, nor did we choose the circumstances that led us there. We gotta take responsibility for the shit we did without blaming ourselves for being fucked up enough for it to happen in the first place. It's a fine line, and it's incredibly easy for us to cross, but it's the only way I've found to make any progress. My advice is take up meditation (if you're like me, mindfulness might not help, and if that's the case I recommend vedic), make the apologies you can/need to, and keep yourself busy with anything other than getting fucked up or thinking too much. Workout, play games, hell watch fucking television if that's what it takes! So long as you're not in your own head too deep to escape, or using again you're making progress. Also, don't just focus on repairing the relationships you had before, some may be too damaged, but try to find new connections with people. Another thing is to be as honest as you can be, but try to keep the negative self evaluation out of it. Honesty gets you a long way, but letting the depression and self loathing speak for you doesn't; another of those fine lines that's a real bitch to get a hold of.

@@emma-hz4td Yeah, I think it's just the production quality, plus they were what, all 16 and 17 at the time? Oli might need some guest vocalists if he's gonna go deathcore again, though. Count Your Blessings and Suicide Season are why he had to stop growling in nearly every song, and change his screaming style after Suicide Season. But hey, it'd be a great excuse for him to recuit vocalists like Spencer and Corpsegrinder. Hell, even J-Dog from Hollywood Undead, he's done some brutal screams over the years.

I fully understand people’s viewpoints on the new song. But I think it was purposeful that they did it in such a pop melody and direction from the heavy EP they just put out. And honestly, all music is subjective , so preach whatever you want. You may like heavy music more, so just listen to their shit from years ago or just that EP. But I do find it interesting that people don’t like the song and think it’s a serious downgrade for the fact alone that it’s not as heavy as their other stuff. It’s heavier than Amo was for the most part (excluding S.H.I.T, Wonderful Life)

I personally think it's not cause the song is not heavy but rather generic sounding. I love both their heavy as well as their poppy side but this one was just ok-ish. Will still listen to the other songs from pt 2 though. The songs not unbearable or straight up garbage but rather bland. If this song comes up when listening through their category I will probably let it play and enjoy the song but won't go out of my way to listen to it all the time if you get my catch It is slowly growing on me the more I watch the MV
