Hi there! It is very hard to explain this via text. I've learned raspy harsh singing for years and I found ot for myself how to do this with the less damage as possible. What you have to focus on is to find the rasp in your voice while keeping your throat relaxed and open as possible. In my opinion, in the beginning it is okay to overdo it (just for the purpose of finding the tone you want). Be sure to have rests when you feel you overdid it (at least 24 hours!)

@@MarkTaborosi that kinda helps. How do you find your “rasp”? So far, I’m pretty efficient with false screams, but I’m struggling a ton with getting a proper fry scream or the scream you’re doing in this song. What even is that scream you’re doing?

​@@Capnharland Hey there, sorry for the late answer. I would really suggest to check out Chris Liepe's videos - my scream method is almost similar as his. In the chorus parts I do mostly a "yell" screaming type of vocals, so it is mostly based on voice and the other is rasp on top of it (so raspy singing). On the big scream at 2:45 is surely a scream with almost no (or little) voice under it. It is the same scream as I do in my Given Up Cover (really look up Chris Liepe's screams - you can imitate mine by that). The other recommendation that I wanna say is that don't think screaming in boxes - I gave up the concepts of Fry and False chord screaming. Even though there is difference between them, in my scream I feel actually both of them - so it is somekind of hybrid scream to say.
