Yes imagine what they could do with nice new shinny machine sit and worry themselves to death at Night because they have had to double the price and now the sales have fell through the floor and can't pay for the nice shinny machine, which keeps breaking down. Also what if they dont mind working in a dirty environment its them doing it not you. Also what happens in the western world is not always the best way. Money grabbing little shits you need to accept some people are happy with there lot as long as they are keeping their heads above water. They will be in a better position when the next Global crash comes. They'll be sitting pretty with their paid for machines yes old but reliable.

It is not a matter of lack of ppe equipment or negligence on the part of the factory to supply it. I understand that the life of the worker is worth it and it is necessary to protect it, but there is no way to do it because the purchasing power of the market where these washing machines go is so low that the sale price only covers the cost of the raw material and a minimum margin to produce it. This is the reality of most workers in these very poor countries.

They are probably buying a lot of things like the castings and complicated stampings from someone else. This is probably a standard machine and shares parts with other machines made by other companies. India is famous for making clones of products and adapting them to the local market. Without patents to get in the way a good idea can spread fast and lots of simple products like this can be made. The down side is this is not a very sophisticated wash machine. It has no pump, no timer, no transmission and spinner or wringer. These would be expensive to add and would be beyond the abilities of the workers ( maybe these are even day labour who show up are told what to do and may move from company to company on a weekly or monthly basis depending on what local jobs need workers ) The production methods used are not scaleable. In order to to reduce costs further they would need to set up a proper assembly line buy more complicated tooling and train men to use it. I suspect when they are done making this run of machines they will move onto something else. Maybe next week its hot water heaters or refrigerators. As long as the product is very cheap and simple and the labour costs are lower than using machinery the can quickly switch from one product to another without any significant investment in machinery or training.

Not necessarily. First of all, consider the human factor. The chap spraying the powder will live till he is 50, maybe 60 - but he will spit his lungs eventually. Your cheap machine will cost him his life - certainly quality of life. Second thing - these washing machines are super simple: this is the technology widely used in Eastern Europe in 1960. These were neither energy-efficient nor excellent in washing clothes. Would you like to get rid of your current washing machine and swap it for Roshan Super Universal? Come on, be brave: you should live by your words instead of spitting at regulations designed to protect you.

These "factories" as they are called, always seem like they are in a basement or an old burnt out building. What is amazing, is anyone who works in them lives past 40 years old. As I watched the video, I saw workers with open toe shoes, ( sandals), their feet are filthy, no masks while painting, worker breathing in the fumes from the paint, No safety glasses while drilling, cutting metal. I will say they are hard working people.

That's what the first washing machines were! Some were even run by gasoline engines! Spinning and agitating clothes does most of the job. Fill it with a bucket and pull a plug to drain and you dont need solenoids, a pump and hoses. This doesnt even have a spin cycle, probably just wring them out and hang to dry. Its a perfectly useful machine that does the washing labor, and nothing extra.
