Absolutely brilliant video
Amazing film. I was there today - incredible to see it under construction.
My late dad worked on it in the 1970’’s for Hall Aggregates
I was a carpenter there when we built it first for Taylor Woodrow the doing the pontoons for Walcon , great days , the were over one hundred chippies there and we all were paid almost double the average wage
Best job I ever done working on the 625 crain £100 + some week 1976 depended on how many caissons ! Double diamond was I think 40 pence. Rent £ 17
It was a massive project, as big as channel tunnel probably. What a mess though today’ dismal. A bit of American retail/food stuck on a once beautiful stretch of beach that I’d climb on the rocks as a kid. Needs to be pulled down and restored to beach. Absolute environmental vandalism.
