Hi guys! I’m seeing a lot of questions about this VLED bar being compatible with the MESO Customs Total Tail Stage 1 mod. The answer is yes! You would just install the VLED breakout harness BEFORE the MESO harness. In fact, the MESO Total Tail bulbs use the same VLED chip as what I’ve shown in this video. Hi Chloe, I just want to take a minute to say that your videos are absolutely, hands-down the clearest instructions and best edited of any I have seen. Kudos to you for taking on some pretty serious projects on your own! I will admit some of them are out of my comfort level currently but if I do try them later I will definitely be watching your videos on how to do it. They are my go to to figure out anything about my truck and what I want to do to it. I have a 2020 Tacoma and only yesterday received my VLED LP reverse light. I wanted to look at a video as opposed to just the ‘still shot’ pictures for installation shown on the VLED site. When I saw that you had put up a video for the installation of same item I was getting ready to install I was so excited because I knew that one was going to be the best one for me to watch. Hi Chloe, Thank you so much for the amazing videos. I bought a new TRD Off Road back in June of 2019 and have barely 6k miles on it. Watching your videos gave me the confidence to start installing mods and upgrades to my taco. I have ordered the VLEDS license plate reverse kit and the VLEDS 921 reverse bulbs (currently on back order) expect them in early May! I also installed the Tacoma Lifestyle sequential mirror leds blacked out version, also the Baja Designs Squadron SAE clear fog lights. I have ordered the Stainless Steel Miller Cat shield as well, a big thanks for that video! Will also be getting the fuel tank skid as well, your videos really help a DIY'er like myself and many others! I too, like you, plan on keeping my taco. Please continue to review and install quality products that makes owning a taco enjoyable!

Just watched this video. I immediately placed my order for one of these kits. It's going to make parking in my garage so much easier. I have an older house with a garage that is only a few inches deeper in length than my Taco. I back in so I can use the rear camera to get as close to the back wall as possible so I can clear the garage door. This kit will be perfect for me. Thanks for sharing.

Nicely done young lady. It is refreshing to see a bright and pleasant lady doing truck mods. I miss my Tacoma. I done similar mods and the best one was the custom turbo running 7 psi of boost

We all need a turbo on these 3.5 v6. I went from a twin turbo 3.5 V6 400hp to the Tacoma....oh that is a life changing experience.😯

Great mod, I think being able to see where you are going in reverse is just as important as going forward. All my exterior lights are LED as well...

That looks like an easy, must do, mod. That really brightens up the backup area.

After seeing this I purchased and installed it. Easy and it “lights up the night”!

As I did same purchasing bulbs, license plate cover as well with light bar. They look great on my 2016 Tacoma off road going to help a lot in backing up at night in the country. Put this on tonight and just like you said, it works perfectly with the MESO Stage 1 mod. Nice and bright. Much better now.

Nice job 👍 your right about brighten up the back-up. You must live in a dry climate, the only thing I would add is dielectric grease. At the connections. Water and current, is bad, can give you shorts, again nice job, you make it easy.thank you

Those look great! The color temperature is so much better than the stock halogens. Definitely on my wish list for my Taco now. And then I’ll need to replace the license plate lights because they’ll be glaringly yellow and dim in comparison.

I have a tundra and I found this LED along with Puddle LEDs for my truck and I will tell you that you cannot go wrong with VLED product.

Hi Chloe, Love the video - you have sold me! I have a 2022 Tacoma Pro Off-road - same as you and same colour! I have also swapped out all my LED’s as well as the Vleds for the footwells. I was wondering about the backup lights, so you made my decision easy. I just installed a hidden the 32” light bar from Cali Raised and really love them. You may want to take a peak as they really provide excellent light and Finnish off the full led look for the Tacoma. Thanks for making the video! Ed

I have to totally agree about your stance on VLEDS. On my Frontier I tested literally 11 brands of led bulbs and all of them were trash until I found VLEDS. Hands down the best quality I’ve experienced and I’ve bought tons of stuff from them ever since as a result. Have not had a failure either. Just got a Tacoma and planning on the LP for it! The Meso tail kit has been out of stock forever. I’m thinking about using VLEDS 921 amber sim the reverse housing and doing a conversion on the reds myself to make them all running lamp and all brake. Turn signals would be below, and reverse would be ONLY the LP kit. Do you think the LP kit would be enough by itself for good night visibility?

thanks Chloe. Looks like a easy mod. And very useful one. I would of left one Halogen light in place as backup light, just to show us the difference in brightness, before changing them both out. Also, are your license plate lights in rear bumper LED? They do not look like they are. Maybe that can be a future video.

Like you Chloe, any light on my vehicle (or my house) I go LED. Did the cab kit, tail lights and got those same side rear view sequential lights - all smoked lenses. Looks bad ass on the Army Green Taco! Even have the cab / cargo (3rd brake light) on its way that's LED and smoked lens. I like backing my truck in the driveway at night, this mod will be very helpful!

I like the his mod. I have built in LED lights in my aftermarket taillights so I’m unsure if the attachment to the factory bulb socket will work for me. Warrants further research on my part. If it works, I’ll be purchasing a this product.

Chole,, have you thought about adding led light bar, just below the tail gate for turn signal and break light. I have seen them on a lot of trucks, thought about adding this to my Tacoma

That is a slick mod. I like that light. Couple of concerns...does the license plate LED strip wash out your camera...another video you use a relay to cut out the license plate lights due to washout. And the other is the temperture of the back up bulbs...due they run hot where the temp will effect the lense...do they have a fan in the bulbs? Thanks for the video

After watching this I went ahead and got the full reverse setup minus the frame and also the footwell lights. Wish there was a discount code, they’re pricey but they work great! On the footwell lights, I misunderstood and thought that the modes were switchable. I’d prefer them to be off when the doors are closed, they only go dim. I situated them high up and off to sides so they’re muted

I just purchased a black on black 2023 Tacoma TRD PRO with the 6 speed manual transmission.

I need to keep up. Awhile back I saw a mod to use the reverse light as the turn signal. Not the same truck? Also surprised the original license plate lights are still in.

Who did you go with for your tonneau cover and how do you like it? Looking to get one and there are soooo many different manufacturers out there to choose from.

Awesome underrated mod. My goodness all these mods you can do to this truck lol I'm going broke because of it! BTW you should install LEDs to your license plate lights as well. Cheap on Amazon kit.

Chloe, on your 2019 OR you installed a relay kit to turn off the license plate lights while in reverse to keep from saturating the backup camera. Seems the new led strip over the licence plate will cause the same issue. I'm going to install the Diode Dynamic SC1 pods under my bumper for more light, they will be on a switch and not bkup light controlled. I think with under the bumper the light should be less likely to saturate the backup camera.

The view from the backup camera is in the video. It doesn't cause the same issue.

Surprised you haven’t swapped your license plate lights to LEDs yet. In the “after shots” there looked like there was a yellow light on the floor behind your truck, what was that from?

I should put this on my 4Runner. I have really dark tinted windows and can't really see much when I'm backing up at night. I also had a question: Do you have any videos that feature your Land Cruiser?

How did you get the Oem connector. Vled website doesn't show that it comes with an Oem connector. I have a 2021 Trd off road.

I saw your video of the wiring harness to disable the plate lights in reverse. This seems like it would cause the same glare problem; how’s the glare?

My LP LEDs almost washout my BC at night. I would prefer back-up lights, that flash between dim and bright

It is compatible and the MESO Total Tails use the same exact VLED chip as this mod does. Both are 5500k white. Hope this helps! 🙂

It does not add glare to the camera as far as I could tell. The license plate lights moreso saturate the camera view from my experience. I have clips in this video of the camera before/after and hopefully that helps 🙂

Yes, they are compatible and I will be ordering another VLED light bar for my TRD Off-road. I just wanted to install it on this Pro since it had all stock lighting and needed some brightening up! Hope this helps 😊

Guessing it’s compatible but possibly not the same K factor between the white/amber bulb and the light bar. Either way should look great
