I absolutely loved both Debbie and Carrie. My mom and I were that close and when she died the only thought that kept me alive was the one that I would be needed by "so and so" which proved to be true. I am now past 60 and still miss her as much as I did the day she died. I'm not suicidal but I don't fear death. In fact, I welcome it when it comes. May God Bless us each and everyone.

Are you serious???? It was an absolute disaster. It was nothing at all what the documentary was supposed to be about. It kept crisscrossing all over to Carrie, Todd, Griffin Dunne, Debbie etc. It could/should have been done by the producers of A&E, Oprah, At least they would have done a better job (They always do.) Have someone who asks the right questions not what they did asking behind the camera. I heard that not even Debbie liked it when she first saw it. I adore both Debbie & Carrie - I was very disappointed in this. They should have recut this documentary before showing it. This whole documentary looks like it was done by first year media students or even a high school kids. The only 'Bright Lights' part of this was the home movies of Debbie, Carrie & Todd. And Debbie's performing in Vegas along with Carrie & Billie.

mlk27743 I too enjoyed the film .. It would never have made it to the screen had The Fishers & Reynolds not approved it. You are being overly negatively critical and quite frankly disrespectful to the dead

mlk27743 it was designed more as an invitation into their world rather than a chronological and formal coverage of the arc of their respective careers . And it contained such spontaneous and beautiful scenes like Carrie and Debbie hamming it up to "no business like show business" with Todd beaming on and the loving care with which Billie helped Debbie down the stairs after her Vegas act . Such very human moments were intimate in a way a more formal documentary wouldn't have been able to capture

Why is it so perfect that Fisher Stevens directed this? He's such a cool dude, like Carrie was just a chic, relaxed, cool gal, and yet... he's the consummate professional, like Debbie was.

Debbie Reynolds was not 85 when she passed Dec 28th 2016..She was 84 and WOULD have been 85 on April 1, 2017 (She was born April 1, 1932. Anyway I was a fan of hers ..Rest In Peace. Carrie Fisher was a very funny and witty person...despite the fact she did not finish high school. Rest In Peace Carrie..Its too bad you had used too many drugs and smoke so much...You could have been around a lot longer if you had not done that. Sad to say.! But then No One lives forever and when I go I would like to just fall asleep like Debbie and Carrie did. I am 70 and my time is coming soon. I HOPE!

She did go to the London School of Drama at 17 which is where I guess she learned to speak French. She speaks French in an interview about Star Wars in 1977.

Carrie lived as she wished. I am tired of her death being a PSA for coca cola drank in excess while doing drugs and smoking. Why insult her? She is dead. Her choice was hers and who are we to say what contributed to her dying in the first place?

I heard that Debbie after she saw the documentary after it was completed 'Hated it' can't say I blame her - I thought it was such a weird documentary. It was sad in a way to see both Carrie & Debbie succumbing to the frailty of age. Debbie was not at her best & the same goes with Carrie. This telling of their strong bond should have been told a decade ago. It showed Carrie not being all there (courtesy of her struggles with bipolar disorder & past drug use) & Debbie because of her age. I hated this movie.

Well unfortunately we are unable to stop time. A documentary like this is valuable to see the relationship between two older stars and their relationship over the years. Life and getting old is just something that we all have to deal with. And Carrie wanted us to see all of that with this documentary and the numerous books and interviews over the years.
