I use this during the winter months for 20 minutes every day. I have depression and SAD. I couldn't believe the difference it has made for me. Amazing!! The last 2 winters I have stayed steady in my moods which NEVER happened before. I live in Canada where winter doom, without sunny days, starts in November right through till April or May. Give or take a month.

@@sonyxperiasmk I have not actually been diagnosed with SAD. I have depression, am on antidepressants, and a lot of times during winter would have to increase meds, then decrease again in other months. With the light therapy I didn't have to change at all. Have been on same dose now for almost 3 years

It came out in 1981 I believe. I started in 1983 I think. It takes dedication and discipline to get up an extra hour before work in the coldest and darkest days of winter. Even during the months of late December to middle of March, when I was forced to take a leave from work due to my inability to meet my job’s basic requirements due to Winter Depression. The 6 am hour of light helped, but did not temporarily cure the deep depression.

Much of Canada, the US and EU do not have dependable sunshine at 6am- 8am year around in their particular Time Zone. Sure, it is ok to use a sunny morning when available in your particular hour. Everyone could benifit from an early morning hour of sunshine! ( it takes more than 1 hour per day to meet your vitamin D requirement).
