    Thank you, @mowerman, you saved our mower! It kept surging and stalling. I followed your video and stripped down the carb, especially the white plastic bit with the tubes in. All blown through with WD40 and reassembled. Runs like a train now! 😀

    I swear when you started wrestling with the fuel line I thought there was going to be one of two outcomes. 1 split hose 2. broken off fuel line barb on the carb I find a flat screw driver wedged and gently twisted between carb and hose applies just the right amount of force for the hose to come off even if the rubber has bonded

    I removed the flywheel on this model and then underneath there is a metal tray which supports the fuel tank and oil dip stick. This was well rusted on mine so I went to remove it to clean up and found that it has a liquid gasket applied to the underside where I think there is a chamber for fuel air mix. This type of engine seems overly complicated compared to previous B&S engines. If you ever remove this tray, please post a video on this. Many thanks.

    Thanks for detailed video! Managed to fix carburator isues. But looks like there's one more problem with gas tank vacuum. After some time of work the engine starts to loose power and stall. This can be temporary fixed by opening the fuel cap for a sec. Then it works fine for 5-10 minutes untl the next opening. Can't see any gas tank breather that can level pressure difference out. Is there something to cleanup that I missed?

    I think I've watched every 300e/400 video that you've done, a massive help so thank you! I have a Briggs 300e and it surges/pulses, I've replaced the carb, spark plug, air filter but no joy. Next plan is an oil change, new blade and fresh petrol. One question: with the copycat carbs they include a red O-ring which I assume goes on the manifold between that and the white retaining washer on carb? The fitment from copy at black O-ring wasn't that snug so I had to re-use the original briggs black o-ring. Any other ideas?

  • @marshmower
    @marshmower Жыл бұрын

    Those engines have a secret or two. Out of the box..... test it before the warranty expires. People buy these on sale and don't try them till spring. The jet needs a slight reaming with a .5mm drill bit. Maybe a .6mm on the larger displacement. I messed up and had to remove the jet and solder fill it. Then use the .5mm..... .7mm is too big for the 125cc and it will chug like a steam engine. Works great now. My "customer" keeps it in the garage too. Oil level seems to affect the governor in a big way.

    I have a 10 yo mower with this Briggs and Stratton 450e engine. It revs up and down, as though the throttle is continually opening and closing. I watched another video of Mowerman's explaining how to clean the carb. I did that, and it was just the same. Then I figured the fuel was old. So I replaced it with new conditioned fuel. Then, still no better. Finally, I decided to simply replace the carb because they're cheap enough. Still no better. It also has a new spark plug and filter. I figured it may be the throttle governor, but I can't tell. Can anyone help, please?

    Hi hope you can help, I have a Briggs 500E engine on a lawnmower its one year old it has the red fuel primer bulb. Now when I push the bulb there is no sound of fuel being squrted into the engine, so starting is slow. On the right side of the carb there is a white plastic spur shaped plastic stub of a tube, that is not fitted to anything. What is this for. I have seen videos suggesting this plastic stub should be blocked off in order to get the primer to pump fuel, what is your take on all this. Regards Dave Porter

  • @MowerMan

    @MowerMan

    2 жыл бұрын

    The white plastic stub should not be connected to anything. I believe it's some sort of air inlet. You don't hear much when you prime that model. I would spray some quick start spray in the head by removing the spark plug spraying then replacing. Quickly try to pull it over. If it fires up for a second and dies you know its not ignition related but fuel starvation. Service the carb and make sure the choke opens and closes if it has one

I think im gonna block that tube off
