So, Mariánské Lázně 15 years later. The first time we visited Mariánské Lázně at the end of April 2007. As you remember, the urologist in St. Petersburg found me kidney stones. They were not stones, they were practically bricks. The size of the stone was, as far as I remember, about 10 by 15 mm. I mean, it was crazy. Giant. And the pain was corresponding. I was recommended to go to the well-known Truskavets. We went there. 2005 and 2006. The result was zero. My kidneys were still hurting. Stones remained as they were. Our urologist, Yulia Aleksandrovna, a respected doctor, took pity on us in this case. She advised us not to suffer further with Truskavets, and to go, if finances allow, to Karlovy Vary. She did not know in detail, of course, what sources we should drink. She just gave us a direction. I had a medical encyclopedia at home. A spa encyclopaedia. Right. The resort encyclopaedia. From which we found out that we didn't actually have to go to Karlovy Vary, but to Mariánské Lázně. This is because it is not Karlovy Vary, but Mariánské Lázně, which is itself a urological spa. Without thinking too much we hit the road in 2007. We already had a new car, a Mitsubishi Lancer. Black one, in which we drove our friendly little family. Beforehand, Lara found an apartment. Booked it. It's right behind us. That's Christian's villa right there, beautiful, ornate. It's on the ground floor on the right where we first stayed. The owner of the villa, Rostislav Julena, was the first Czech we met there. He turned out great! Just such a giant. A golfer. And a very charming, kind man. We arrived at 9pm. Tired. 2100 kilometres on the road with one overnight stay near Warsaw. Here we are. Consequently, we didn't want anything. He put us up. Lara and Mitya went straight to bed. I also decided to take a walk in the immediate surroundings. I found a café, God knows where. It's right next door, the Stone Yard. I had a beer there. Czech. Had a bite to eat. And then I went back to my apartment. Slept the night away, too. In the morning, on the advice of our landlord, Rostislav, we went to the Ferdinand Spring closest to us. This spring is one of the main springs in Mariánské Lázně and its curative factors are mainly related to gastrointestinal and allergic diseases. Naturally, it does not cure any serious illnesses, such as stomach ulcers, but gastritis, metabolic disorders and digestive disorders are wonderfully treated. It is similar in mineral composition to the Cross spring, but differs in taste and smell. The Cross spring is slightly smelly and not as tasty. But Ferdinand, we liked it right away. It's a tasty spring. We started drinking it literally from day one. The main reason we came, of course, was the Rudolph spring, which we'll show you now. Behind us is the pavilion of Rudolf spring - Rudolfův pramen. This is the main spring in Mariánské Lázně, considering the fact that this spa was originally a urological spa. This is a treatment of kidneys and urinary tract. This was the main spring. It is found in several places in Mariánské Lázně. On the main colonnade, in some spa houses and respectively in this pavilion. We did not risk to determine the drinking regime of the mineral springs on our own, not to treat ourselves. Rostislav advised us to consult a spa doctor, who works in a 5-star sanatorium in Nové Lázně. We drank three times a day from the Ferdinand Spring, Rudolf Spring and Caroline Spring. In different proportions, according to our weight. 200-300 millilitres. Which we successfully did for a fortnight, 14 days. We got tired after a walk in Marianki and decided to have lunch. We got into this restaurant completely by accident. It's called Philip. After a delicious lunch at Filip's, we decided to walk around the spa park, the spa centre, which is just there. And then we decided to have a cup of coffee with desserts at this café across the street, which is called "Modrá Cukrarna" in Czech, which means "Blue Confectionery" in Russian.
