    Watching these endings multiple times (plus my first exposures to this mode being Bedman and Asuka, which definitely have this feel), I have concluded that Bridget's endings are meant less as binary (heh) "good" and "bad" endings, and more to be read as snippets of one overarching narrative that culminates in the Stage 9 Ending. Stage 1: Bridget, a boy who dresses up like a girl, is starting to question who he really is. Between his debut and -STRIVE-, he has likely spent plenty of time away from the village who thought him a metaphorical black cat, and the parents who raised him as a girl in response to such. Stage 7 Endings: Bridget gets what amounts to a "You're still young, that's your fault, there's so much you have to go through" lecture from Blonde John Goodman over here. This lights the fire Bridget needs under him to truly think about his issues, putting him on the path that will eventually lead him to Ky. Stage 8 Filthy Casual Endings: Ky basically advises Bridget to look at things from the perspective of happiness and what might satisfy them in the future. This prompts Bridget to figure "Perhaps I'm just as comfortable with being a girl" and self affirm from there. Stage 8 Flawless Ending and Stage 9 Ending: Of course, self affirmation and going public are two different things, so Bridget seeks out Ky (revered Gear slayer now basically a Gear himself) again to get his thoughts on the latter. Ky tells Bridget that as long as she has people who support her, she should not be afraid of other's thoughts. Bridget seems to take that to heart and basically gets adopted at the end (something I'm a sucker for, the adoption in all but name thing I mean).

At which point it was already too late. I was like 80k words into a word document when I realized. That's about a small books worth of words written in a 2-3 weeks. As for what I should have been doing to avoid the RSI: Probably I needed to do light tendon stretches and ease up on the typing until I could build up enough stamina. Turns out, ergonomic keyboards are kinda a scam... And they don't help prevent RSI's... Would have been good to know a month ago... Also, Speech To Text, I probably should have been using that for just raw word transcription. It was dumb to even type that much in the first place...

    The important thing to remember here, is that NOBODY in the story is forcing her to be anything anymore. There was her history, but she's beyond that now. With that in mind, the two paths for Bridget in this game are "I realized I'm a girl" and "I'm working on figuring myself out" and you could very easily say she's trans in those endings too, she just doesn't say it to Gold and Ky... because she's still figuring it out. It's like she says in that coming out ending, she's not 100% sure yet if it's the right choice. Just, think about it. Whether she wins or loses certain battles doesn't change her identity. These endings only serve to highlight different aspects of the same character. That character is a trans girl.

  • @TheGreatBackUpVIDEOS

    @TheGreatBackUpVIDEOS

    Given that all the endings have to conform to canon, as they are all meant to reveal different aspects of that character, this makes sense. Even if it does not directly land at the same point, it is still a step towards that in the greater scheme of her story.

    No matter the ending, the message is "Only you know who you are, and don't be afraid to reach out to those willing to help you if you need it." and HOLY SHIT THAT IS A FUCKING *RAW* message to send through the Arcade Mode dialogue of a DLC character for a fighting game. Love how it's written too, especially the flawless ending drawing things out with so much weight in the dialogue and leaving her eventual choice ambiguous. The point isn't "'Cowgirl' is fine, because I'm a girl.", it's that Bridget is Bridget and only Bridget gets to say what that means, and that's fucking awesome.

    It's infuriating, I'm currently trying to express that to a few people on another video. I don't understand how a character realizing they're unhappy and getting help from people who care about them in what they want in life and what makes them comfortable. Nah that's the bad end, they need to stay unhappy and forcing themselves to be something they're not because these people can't accept that their trap character has more depth then just crossdressing. Granted most trap characters do but a lot of people ignore that and only focus on the trap aspect.

  • @TheSweetSpirit

    Yeah, you got it! in fact the flawless ending is EXTREMELY blunt with this, saying "Have I convinced you? No matter what others think, I will not change. Not even if this body turns to gear." No matter what his body is, he's still Ky, and this is in *Bridget's* arcade story, with Ky trying to help. I just hate how people twist it thinking when Bridget says "she wants to be her true self" that means 'Male', because to certain people 'true self' only means the body they're born into. While Ky literally says it doesn't matter what his own body is like, which is a HUGE change from his old self who absolutely fucking despised all Gears. And Bridget basically agrees with Ky's sentiment for her own outlook.

    Only on a good day :P his is one of those situations where the character should canonically lose, which is why the fight is so difficult, but you the player have the power to change that outcome. Also the dialogue afterwards would still fit perfectly if Bridget lost the fight, so it's probably cannon that they didn't win but were pushed to their limits, or at least that's how this sort of thing usually gets handled, after all not everyone can beat the final boss, but in Xrd's story mode every character recounts their arcade mode fight with Ramlethal regardless of who actually beat Ram.

    Basically Goldlewis advocates it's okay to fit the mold, since it reduces conflict and makes life easier. Ky, on the other hand, says his personal way of life is to always do what he feels is the right thing, even if it would bring him personal discomfort. His BODY may change outwardly, but who he is inside never will. The whole thing is intentionally left ambiguous, because as both Ky and Goldlewis point out, Bridget DOESN'T know his/her own identity in the first place. Years of being brought up as a girl did have an effect, so right now Bridget has no idea what to be. It's "what Bridget is familiar with" vs "what Bridget wishes to be". Goldlewis and Ky represent those two things. But which one is picked is left up in the air in the Perfect Run ending.

    I believe what Daisuke and the Guilty Gear staff is trying to say about gender, is that there is no real answer. But just ones own interpretation in what makes them happy. I believe that’s why we have so many different endings. Kind of describing that our choices and experiences ultimately shape who we are. Bridget could just conform and live being a female if they so choose to. Or they could just accept being a boy and live a feminine lifestyle. Because screw gender expectations, you should do what’s best for you. By the end of the day you’re the one who decides what you wanted be, and how you want to live your life. EDIT: Wow I’m surprised about the likes. Thank You. But I like to add more context to my opinion. In terms of which ending I support. I’d say I have to go with Ky. Bridget continuing to live as a boy and going back to their village regardless of what they think of them, is inspiring. Bridget was groomed to be female, but never hated the way they lived. However this made them conflicted whenever or not they should live as said gender. I find it empowering that a man chooses to live a feminine lifestyle, regardless of gender. Especially in my experience at least, men are judged harshly for their masculinity. But Bridget is able to live as a boy and be comfortable with feminine way of life. You don’t have to be a female to live femininely. Other reason why I choose this ending, isn’t because it’s the true ending.I’m not trying find which is canon or not. I still believe this arc is about ones interpretation. I just find that to be a really interesting perspective. Another answer for someone struggling to find their identity. But Im not really a big fan of Bridget decision about being a girl. Not that being a girl was bad. I just don’t like the way they did it. I believe it’s a bad rap for trans representation. I know the people in the LGBT community always wanting representation. But I have to ask them. Is this really the kind of representation they want? Seeing Bridget‘s backstory, a person who was groomed to being a said gender, without really giving a choice in the matter. Doesn’t really look good on paper. The person who wants to transition, it should be completely up to them. Not an outside party, regardless if it’s their own family. Even some trans people agree that’s it’s not a good example of representation. But that’s my opinion. End of the day, it’s whatever you choose that makes you happy.

Also, I don't understand why people are confused about this.. Did people forget the friends Bridget made with the Jellyfish Pirates? How is anyone surprised that Bridget being exposed to some of the best and supportive girls in the world, would make her consider embracing being a girl? Like you said, people are treating Bridget like a prize, or an objective.. That's no different from how Bridget's parents treated her, everything about that decision to me feels like it'll lead down a path of regret with the coin being flipped on the same type of pscyhos being controlling of Bridget staying a boy, instead of letting Bridget choose what makes her happy.

After getting most ways through, I could still see it both ways, everything that was said could still be taken either for or against if you look at it from both angles. But at 6:02 I found the deciding factor. They say straight up that from now on they're done lying to their self, followed by being asked whether it was cowgirl or cowboy. Their next line right after the character development was that cowgirl was fine. Not "cowboy", not "either or", but "cowgirl". Taking all what was previously said into context (actually watch it through, don't base you opinion on one comment), it's been made clear that she really wants to be a girl. At the beginning she tells people that she's a boy. And after the character development, she chooses cowgirl instead of cowboy. Pretty cut and dry in my opinion.

    I've been seeing topics about this all day today and I've had a lot of time to see these cutscenes and come to my own conclusion based on the info I have. I believe that in the Flawless ending, Bridget is still searching for the true answer, but Ky has pushed Bridget into a path of making a change. When Bridget says "I want to live as my true-self", this could mean staying as they are, or it could mean finally presenting as a boy, facing down whatever consequences that brings, and learning something new about themselves. I don't really have the answers, but I seem to remember in XX, Bridget would always correct people about their gender. They say that it's been 6 or so years between then and Strive. For that amount of time, Bridget could have had to do this same ole song and dance about explaining being a boy that entire period. Bridget saying "Cowgirl is fine" might be Bridget taking the safe option of continuing to be seen as a girl. At this point, being a girl is their default. It's who they were raised to be. But in the Flawless Ending where Bridget says "I want to be my true-self" this is ambiguous and left to personal interpretation. In my speculation, I think GG might give Bridget a more androgynous appearance or even a masculine with a change in fighting style with the Yo-Yo's and Roger, in a future title or even an update. I think this would make sense for Bridget's story arc. However, that's just a speculation, I have no idea what Daisuke is planning and I don't wish to invalidate people's feeling on Bridget being trans at all. But this is how I personally interpret the character and I hope some of you can see where I'm coming from.

    Bridget being trans is the worst thing that could happen. Bridget's situation is literally that of a trans male born female. He was raised as a girl all his life because of some stupid cultural rule, but identified as a man and insisted that he was male. Now, they've completely erased all that just to appease progressive people..? This plot point, Bridget becoming trans female, not only doesn't make sense, it's completely dismissive of real gender dysphoria. You don't become trans by being fucking raised into it.

    Personally, between what Bridget talks about in the “I’m a girl!” Route and the pronouns used in her official bio, I think it’s the intention of the writers that she is a trans woman and that’s where her internal struggle is coming from. Bridget is encouraged to be brave and strive for a future where she’s happy in that ending - she wouldn’t say “I’m a girl!” with such enthusiasm if she was regressing instead. The other endings just build on that central realisation.

    I read the comments and I think there is a misconception with the interpretation of the TRUE ending. Bridget being confirmed trans or cis was not the point of the ending. The point of the ending was Bridget being true to him/herself and accepting who they are free of societal expectations. For a person undergoing gender dysmorphia, deciding on a path is a completely internal calculus, unforuntately we live in a society where external societal expectations can cause destructive and ultimately unhelpful stressors on a gender dysmorphic person, leading to those people rejecting who they truly are in a bad faith attempt to conform to said societys gender roles or living in a society that rejects the version of themselves when they act in good faith way to be themseleves. Ky gave Bridget the best possible option society can give a trans person, the freedom to make their own choice on the matter and regardless of their decions the promise of acceptance and support. Goldlewis simply didn't want to misgender a person he just meet, Ky on the other hand, told Bridget that their gender didn't matter because in his eyes they were just Bridget. @@tempoaccla4041 I disagree but just want to have a friendly discussion about this, I like your more impartial approach to this story. I'll just assume you watched the whole video, so I'll only point out the flawless dialog that's important to what I'd like to discuss. Ky: You flatter me, but *I owe my power to the strength of Gears.* Bridget: "Weren't you afraid about coming out about gears?" Ky: No, I wasn't afraid, *I didn't want to lie to myself or my family, that's all.* Bridget: *I wish I could be like you.* Ky: No matter what others think, I will not change. *Not even if this body turns to gear.* Bridget: *No matter what others think, huh?* I admit that still scares me a little, *But I want to live as my true self, at least that's how I feel after having watched you* If the flawless run is saying Bridget wants to be a male or embrraces it, then why does Ky emphasize how he didn't want to lie about his body's changes? Even if you would like to argue that Ky never went public about his body's changes, why would the writers point out, in Bridget's story, that Ky is still himself no matter how his body looks, gear or not? Why would Bridget want to be more like Ky in these regard? Most importantly though is, why would Bridget be scared about 'not lying to myself or my family' if basically Bridgets' entire family and town accepts and knows Bridget was a man? The storyline about Bridget's hometown was solved 6 years ago, the town's superstition faded and everyone knows Bridget is/was a male. It's already part of Bridget's lore that because of Bridget's actions as a male bounty hunter and the money Bridget brought back to the town, their supersition faded. They HAVE to know Bridget was at least outwardly identifying as a male or else there would be no reason for the superstition to fade. So, they would see Bridget as a male. Bridget wanting to be a woman would be the opposite of what Bridget's family and town understand as of right now. Why would Bridget be afraid of coming out as a guy when that's what everyone who knows Bridget already understands?

    @@TheSweetSpirit For Bridget, the body's changes would be how he outwardly presents himself. His whole life he was dressed as and looked like a girl, so to suddenly go from nineteen years of being a cute girl on the surface to a handsome young man through his physical presentation is a massive mental jump that would require that kind of advice. And it's not exactly clear cut if the village accepts him. For all we know, they might be grateful but still hate his guts. For all we know, he still might be an outcast despite everything. So Bridget wants to be like Ky in the sense that he is not afraid of changing how he looks, even if it makes others hate him or become scared of him or he becomes a major outcast. That's why I think the Flawless Run is the 'true' end, because it perfectly completes Bridget's entire character arc. To become a man not only in mind, but also body through the way he dresses/styles his hair/stands and walks and runs and fights. Whereas the other endings are the 'bad' end, because Bridget succumbs to the fear and anxiety of such a big change, and decides that the current status quo is okay because it suits everyone else, even if it is hurting him in the end.

  • @TheSweetSpirit

    @TheSweetSpirit

    I don't really buy it myself, the subtext that the writers have don't really give off the idea that Bridget wants to specifically embrace dressing, walking, runs, walks etc as what people expect from a man. I don't think Bridget ever cared about acting like a man specifically? The impression I've gotten from Bridget fans is that he/she has always been nonconforming to gender, and Bridget went on their journey specifically only to disprove the superstition the town had. The lore's pretty clear on that much. Also, if that's the case, then why does the GGST World in-game encyclopedia use "She" for all pronouns in both Japanese and English, and on the website it uses no he/she pronouns? And then on Bridget's starter guide they also avoid any he/she pronouns, only saying "Bridget" every time. This contrasts other starter guides which don't avoid he/she pronouns, besides Testament, who has a similar unique relationship with gender. Happy Chaos, Baiken, Jack-O, Goldlewis, I-no, Sol all use he or she, where applicable. I didn't watch others just now, but i figure that was enough to get this across.

The Perfect Run keeps everything in vague terms. The dialogue is extra vague, from being a trans metaphor, to also about Bridget confronting their secular village's actions (like forcing them to dress up as a girl). This is about coming out of the shell, and learning about the world more. The character realizes being a girl is okay in one ending, and confronting their village in another. There are so many things going on here.

    Bridget talks about being scared of change "I just don't know if I should keep living like this" because they still "cherish the present". In the stage 8 ending they talk about not wanting to lose what they have. I interpret this as them living as a boy, Bridget's scared of losing that life because it does still make them happy but they aren't living they're true self. Goldlewis talks about how they've got their whole life ahead of them and after that realization Bridget decides to truly live as a girl despite potentially losing a lot from living as a boy. her story could end there but also goes deeper in the talks with Ky. Ky convinces her not to be scared of change because it won't change who you are. Ky becoming a gear didn't change him at all. when Bridget asks about him being public about "gears" It's pretty obvious she's comparing it to gender. to which Ky says he wasn't afraid and Bridget admires that. Despite Hy saying he won't change, Bridget's story is about change. From being forced to live as a girl, to living as a boy as their own choice and experiencing that freedom, to going back to living as a girl, and making that choice regardless of the village or others perceptions of her. It's an extremely complex relationship with gender and Identity (much like a lot of guilty gear is) but it's also a very realistic depiction of the trans experience.

Goldlewis is weird, because he says he knows EXACTLY what Bridget goes through...but he talks about having to leave his family and needing to know what he has to do Gold's central conflict, insofar, is that he has to act like a lapdog and whether or not that's a good thing. As for Ky, again, remember my point on calling out the village. She basically became not what they raised her to be, but they also caused her grief by raising her as a girl. Remember, the village's perception was "HE HAS TO BE A GIRL", rather than the typical gender stereotypical role of a boy. She went out to prove them she was a boy (at least, in the original Bio). Also, remember that Ky's conflict was also about shaking the status quo. Not just on being a gear, but going against the corruption in Illyria. He was a staunch supporter of Gear genocide, of course this was a giant decision to let people know that gears are good. Also, "It does not change who you are" can still be applied to going against Status Quo. In the end, I don't disagree with your interpretation. In fact, i think this was done on purpose. I think the reason why Bridget's gender isn't included in the true ending, or is assumed that Bridget stays a guy, is because it's an inverse of a coming out story Generally, a person who is born trans is pressured into behaving like the sex they were born as, but grows confident and realises that "you know what? I'm gonna be my true self and I don't care what others think," whilst conforming to their family's view is often seen as the bad path since they aren't their true self. Likewise, Bridget was born a guy but raised and forced to behave as a woman. The true ending has Bridget start acting more like their true self, whilst the bad ending has Bridget conform to their family's expectations. As long as Bridget is being their true self it shouldn't matter if he's trans or not, and I think in this case it makes more sense as a character that Bridget remains a guy. Besides it's not like Arc Sys hates trans people or anything; one of their coolest characters is the most badass non binary character in all of video gaming

    I respectfully disagree, mainly because this whole idea of "bad endings" doesn't exist in Guilty Gear. None of the other characters have arcade modes that greatly deviate from each other like this one supposedly does. They had slight variations due to the characters present in each scenario, but their end results always made the same conclusions about each character. I doubt that Bridget of all characters would be the exception to that. I can understand how the flawless run is definitely more vague, but then even, I find it that it's more likely that she's indeed trans. Ky mentions that he's not going to lie to himself or his family, and Bridget replies that she wants to be like that too. If she indeed was still a guy, why would she be lying to herself about being a girl, when she not only makes no previous reference to doing this but is also okay with saying that she's a boy at the beginning of the arcade mode? That, alongside with all the other dialogue options, makes it pretty clear to me that her "true self" isn't suddenly referring to her sticking as a dude. Combine that with all the other pretty self explanatory evidence out there (the trans symbol she's wearing on her hat now, the glossary listing her gender as she/her, the multiple English Voice Actors confirming she's trans), and it starts to become nonsensical to think that she's somehow not trans by now. I would also like to disagree that Bridget being trans has to do with family expectations. While her parents certainly raised her as a female out of necessity, her Strive bio says that it caused her parents pain, or in other words, they didn't want to raise her as a girl. She then tries to go out and prove as a man that the superstition is wrong and succeeds, but it leaves her feeling empty. I feel like this is pretty obviously implying that she wanted to try and be a man not because it was what she actually wanted, but because it was what she thought she needed to do. That, along with the 6 years canonically between the games, gives enough reason to separate her decision to be trans with her upbringing. It's kind of like having your parents force you to get a haircut that you end up liking anyways. Sometimes that's just what happens. I like your theory, but imo it has more against it than for it evidence wise.

    So, a couple of things to speak now that all of the arcade dialogue it's available: First, (and it shouldn't be surprising) Twitter people, especially the gender-sensible people, jumped the gun WAY too fast and assumed that "girl" ending was the true ending when it was the "easy way out" ending; since, argument-wise, is the least satisfying and most "out of the water" out of them all. Second, the "true" ending is basically that, up to the battle with ky, bridget still is a man and after the fight, he (for simplicity sake) says " i want to live as my true self, at least that's how i feel right now" with no mention of gender what so ever. Meaning that, until something is REALLY set in stone aside from the bio, bridget's tecnically still a man from a story perspective. As for the fan side... most of them are gonna be happy, since i saw a lot that accepted the "change", but now i wonder?. And the twitter fans (you know, the ones that only like the character because of gender and never knew this franchise before) are either gonna shit on other fans, calling them transphobes or worse.

    Both endings are literally the same, I don't understand why people are reading this as Bridget considering herself a man still, both endings have the same type of dialogue about being true to yourself. The only difference is in the flawless one Bridget doesn't say what it is, but in the Lewis one, she explains the doubt was that she was still pretending to be a girl despite it not serving any purpose anymore since literal years, so she was considering himself a girl because he wanted to. Interpreting "being true to yourself" as being a man because Bridget was born a boy is such a close minded mentallity, it's extremely obvious both endings are about coming out.

    So if I'm understanding this correctly, Bridget is trans...but only if you're don't play perfectly? And before anyone goes "B-B-BUT BRIDGET IS STILL HECKIN' TRANS, CHUD!", Bridget's story is that he had to be raised as a girl because his dumbass village thinks twin boys are cursed and will bring doom upon them, so he set out to be strong and successful man to prove to the villagers he isn't cursed. The quote at the beginning is a reference to this. His story and what Ky said about going public about gears make no sense he just wanted to be a girl all along because everyone already thought he was a girl. And there's the fact he only calls himself a girl if he lost a match at some point. Bridget is "trans" because he's giving up and conforming to everyone's view of him because he doesn't think he's strong enough to be a man. And in the Japanese version, he apparently calls himself a girl in a playful manner, giving up on trying to correct people and just rolling with it for laughs. His storyline is all about trying to come out as who he really is, but who he really is is a boy, so everyone's huffing copium and saying that conformity is a good thing if you conform in the right way. If you all need to cling on to a fictional character that badly, go cling to Erica from Catherine or Luka from Steins;Gate. Not only are they actually transsexual, but Luka's gender issues are an important part of her character and even the storyline.

    "His storyline is all about trying to come out as who he really is, but who he really is is a boy, so everyone's huffing copium and saying that conformity is a good thing if you conform in the right way." You're pretty observant. The larger lesson you can glean from this, which is important, is that young people at the present moment are in fact hyperconformist, and are obsessed above all else with putting themselves and others into predefined categories. This is an incredibly noncreative way of seeing the world, and represents extreme dominance by the left hemisphere of the brain, which only wants to acquire things and gain status, and cannot feel love, and cannot see creative connections between things. We are in an age full of these kinds of people, and nothing is more threatening to them than a character like Bridget who completely defies their expectations by being a completely weird individual. They want to shove that individual into a box more desperately than anyone else, because their existence proves that the box is fake. And so we see this foaming-at-the-mouth effort to label Bridget as "trans." But in the end, it all falls apart, because it makes no sense and is completely fake. I think you could probably pick your friends, based solely on who is able to understand this, vs who would become incredibly uncomfortable and repressive at the mere suggestion that characters like Bridget exist. In fact, everyone who's really interesting is exactly like Bridget: a weird individual. And everyone who's desperate to shove themselves into some kind of approved box is by definition completely uninteresting, and should basically be ignored.

And you're right, it is ironic that in most of these comments people are expecting him to be a girl, even though the entire story of his character from the beginning has been about him struggling to prove his masculinity. To be honest I think most of these people don't know anything about Bridget's story from the past 20 years, and don't care about his identity at all, but rather just want another character they can put into a "trans" box, like they're "claiming him." It's creepy behavior because it shows a lack of empathy and a lack of concern for who he really is and for the vision of the artist who created him, and a total lack of respect for the fandom that has existed around GG for two decades. It's just totally selfish. But yeah, I agree with you that if he was actually rewritten as "thinking he's a girl," it would show that he's deeply confused and basically has given into peer pressure and allowed other people to tell him who he is, instead of finding his true self inside, which obviously is that he's male, as he's known all along! It would be like he went crazy and lost himself, and that would just be sad. I'm glad that it wasn't really what happened! So from what I gather: Bridget refers to himself as a girl in the bad ending only. Got it. You know, as someone who got into Guilty Gear when XX came out way back when, and following the character development and story up to that point, this whole debate just goes to show how many people just don't know Bridget's backstory. He has always called himself a boy, and much to the dismay of Johnny. Bridget does not like being called a girl, and will correct people if they mistake him for one. I think it's a little disrespectful to Bridget's entire story up to this point to suddenly start calling him a girl or trans. He was forced by his parents to dress and act like a girl due to his village's superstitious beliefs. There's a whole level of pretty icky implications that pop up if you strip away that part, which I won't mention here. You can put 1 and 1 together. Thanks for the video by the way! Final note: More importantly, at the end of the day, you should feel happy as you are and how you feel. If there's at least one message you can take from this story mode, it's that.

But it seems very off to call what's shown as a positive ending a 'bad' ending, if Bridget saying they're a girl is bad, why don't they show anything at all that says "this is bad"? Why do they instead show two supportive characters letting Bridget decide their pronouns?

    @Loque seado Nome importa Basically you get one ending for some stages if you got a flawless victory or another if you lost a round in the best of 3 match. Most people will get the ending for losing a round on stage 7 before the one for a flawless victory. In Strive at least, the endings don't really contradict each other and instead just show different interactions between what are fundamentally the same characters with the same stuff going on in their heads. Basically if you lost a round on Stage 7 and still beat it and stage 8 is done without losing a round you get the scene where she outright admits she's a girl. The other alternative scenes still imply it heavily and her entire theme song is pretty clearly about gender dysphoria. Her conversations with Ky in the stage 8 flawless ending and the stage 9 ending are both pretty clearly them talking about coming out, with her thinking of him going public about gears as analogous to her coming out as trans. By the time Strive takes place in the series no one is forcing her to pretend to be a girl and there is literally no reason for her to be afraid of being a guy and others finding out anymore, since the main driving force behind claiming she was a guy was that she was working to disprove a curse that male twins from her village were bad luck. Her village dropped the superstition due to her excellent bounty hunting skills and the money they brought in, and after 6 years of not having a purpose or actual reason to be a guy or a girl she comes out as a girl since she's finally free to decide for herself and not based on her safety or what others might need from her.
