love pen and Colin's relationship- they have the strongest most realistic relationship I have seen so far and I love it- they pick up when something is wrong with the other, Colin gives her space to tell when she is ready. I love that when they talk outside of the modiste he is actively listening- he asks her questions, he doesn't yell at her, he stays calm, he doesn't run away, and she genuinely answers them - it's clear it's more about his jealousy and his fear for her safety then her actually being whistledown. When he said that she entrapped him he clearly said that out of pain and anger because she didn't entrap him- he is the one who initiated sex, she repeatedly gives him an out and he doesn't take it because he knows deep down that she didn't do that he is just deeply hurt that she kept that a secret and he loves her and wants to marry her. it's obvious how much he wants to be physically intimate with her but is holding back because he is still processing all of this new information which I love- when he opens the door and she is standing there and you see him almost go in and kiss her but he restrains himself even though he wants to because he is not ready. He deeply loves her and for him to have sex with her when they are not in a good place isn't fair to her or him- so by not having sex he is respecting both of them. The first show runner also said that Colin is supposed to be demisexual so him not wanting to have sex when the are not in a good space makes sense- he feels disconnected to her and not having sex with her because he is still processing so much new information and feels emotionally separated from her at the moment makes complete sense. It has been ingrained in him that it is a mans job to provide for and protect his wife, so when she says she can take care of herself and he says then what good am I to you, you can feel the pain, pen is independent and doesn't need him in that way, she just needs him for him and it takes some time for him to accept the role reversal. I love how the letters help him reconnect with pen because he can tell he is losing her- they also help him realize he has always known both sides of her- LW was her in the letters they were never separate people- she was always LW- and he has always known that person and has always loved that person! I loved season 3- the culmination of a 10 yr relationship and 3 yrs of unconventional courting all coming together to show a beautiful, realistic, romantic, intimate relationship come to fruition! Those 10 yrs of friendship is still a part of their romantic relationship- when friendship transitions to romantic all those yrs of friendship don't suddenly become separated from it, like it's a completely different relationship- it now being romantic- the romantic just gets added on, I know a lot of people were frustrated with there being very little intimacy, but there was a ton of intimacy- it just wasn't sexual intimacy- There was an insane amount of emotional intimacy as well as many other forms of intimacy.

Finally someone put all of my thoughts into words, as someone who’s Demi, I caught on immediately, he cares so much for her and he needed that emotional trust and connection to have physical intimacy with her, I loved that they explored that in his character, so many people are just watching this season comparing it to s1 and s2 characters, and forget that they are very different people

One of the favorite things I liked about this season was the character development for the Featheringtons, especially Portia. She’s being a more open and supportive mother to her girls and even Prudence and Philippa had a little bit of development. They’re finally being nice to Penelope instead of bullying her now.

I think that's a moment that doesn't get lingered on enough particularly in this episode. There's a couple one liners this season that I think are so beautiful and important but are kind of skimmed past a lot. After looking around at the party setup, Porsche tells prudence and Philippa that she's proud of them and Prudence looks so well satisfied by it. I feel like that's something she's really been looking for in this back half of the season. And Penelope helps her get that. She helped her sisters feel good about what they felt was something they needed to do in order to go into the next phase of their life, confinement and motherhood, with joy. Without having lost a sense of their person-hoods❤

The Violet/Agatha friendship is such a sweet one and I totally started crying when Violet says in a previous episode that her care for Agatha wasn't contingent upon receiving her assistance with marrying her children off and that she was there for her. Always. There's is so much so a beautifully mature friendship that could have been derailed if both parties were not as loving and giving as they are. I love that Violet said what she did, that she knew her father was a good man and that Agatha has been a great friend and that's all she needed to know because I think Violet now knows that Agatha's love for her father has extended to loving her entire family. I think Violet knows it's a testament to how much her father and Lady Danbury must have cared for one another and Agatha returning the favor by taking herself out of it was to show Violet how much she cares for her as well. By the time they showed the hat I was a sobbing mess though. That was beautiful.

they focused more on the angst and side plots that they forgot to add mooore yearning but regardless I still love it, especially the ending, it actually feels like it's the end of the show, so now we all (even us book girlies) have no idea what they'll gonna do next season, and Penelope didn't stop being LW here unlike in the books she stopped and helped Colin with his books and she also became a book writer. I feel like Polin will stay until the end of the show unless Penelope decided to retire from LW in the future season. Now I'm excited to see Colin as a Wife Guy and Penelope as the Queen's new bestie. Thank u for your reaction!! I had a great time watching!

Put season 2 was all angst. It was sexy angst according to people but it was also betrayal angst. Most of the calm happy we got from Kate and Anthony probably was shown in this season. The one that wasn't theirs. I think we should just cross our fingers and hope for more of the Polin we want to go with the stories we haven't gotten yet😂❤

@@beatyz2 that's what I was thinking too while watching S3 for the first time, the complaint about not enough Polin sweet scenes is also like the complaints about Kanthony last season hahaha. After all the negatives I consumed last season I decided to just enjoy S3 with what they gave us but also critique it but not on the toxic level. I really enjoyed this season, while it wasnt perfect, it is definitely my favorite season and i loved all of the happy endings. I honestly got emotional at the end cuz even tho i know its not the series finale, it feels like the end of an era because SO MANY THINGS have changed this season. it wasnt just a season about a love story, but so many characters have grown and matured and found themselves, LW is no longer a secret, at least 3 future storylines have been set up, its like now I dont know what to expect anymore. Its gonna be different but im excited🥹☺

Supposedly season 4 it’s going to be a mix of Benedict and Polin. Also in the books LW officially retires and doesn’t return again. And the whole Fran and Michaela thing shook me since I read the book. My only gripe is that in the book Michael falls for Fran first but to see the reverse right after getting married it made me 🥴🥴 so I’m interested in seeing which direction they take her story. And yes we wanted more of Polin of course, but when we compare it to the last two seasons I feel Iike this season is special. We see a man going through pain, he’s not lashing out or yelling or berating his wife he is trying to sort out his feelings and I really appreciate that. And there was so much growth happening this season that I wasn’t expecting and Colin’s love declaration was just perfection 🥹

The thing I appreciated about Cressida's storyline is that her background paralleled with Pen's, the whole bad home life, being a young woman in that marriage mart, being in their 3rd year and still unmarried, not alot of real friends to speak of, she just had to preen and put on a show in response to the pressure, while Penelope had to hide and make herself smaller. It showed just how singular Pen's talent is. Cressida had all the information and resources to be sassy and snarky, even had her mother's support and assistance, but even with that (all the surface aspects that people like to assume is ALL LW is), she couldn't do what Penelope had accomplished, because there is more that goes into LW than that and in the end Cressida couldn't hang. I'm so glad to see how the Featherington's family dynamic changed, family punching bags like Penelope/me don't usually get to experience the family change how they treat us, I don't think, either the maltreatment continues or we have to go nc. It was uplifting to see Portia actively change the family dynamic and eventually verbalize that she did love Penelope and was just doing the best she could, not that she believed Penelope was worthless. Without Portia actually saying it Penelope's just left to assume things. I loved all the resolutions we got in s3. Definitely disappointed that it wasn't spicier, especially given how they hyped that part of it up in promo, but I still adored the season. I did want to see more of Colin's growth instead of it being so internal, this was supposed to be a Polin season but it felt more about Penelope specifically (though I love her SO MUCH). I think even if Colin just had one conversation with Will about what it's like having a legacy and being made to give it up, Colin's journey would have been less background-y. Idk if it's my faulty remembering of the book but I felt like their view points were equally there, Penelope would have a thought, then Colin would have a thought, etc. which made me assume we'd see them both on their journeys equally in the show...more run time or more episodes would have been so helpful in this way lol I feel like pt.1 was for the book readers, it's their love story without the full weight of the show's higher stakes take on LW, pt.2 was addressing the heavier aspects of Colin and Penelope's characterizations in the show and the higher stakes of having the Queen involved regarding LW. This does feel like the end of an era but I think, given how family-central this season has been, it's the end of how they tried to make the love stories only about the couple, as if their families had no part in their lives but this family is supposed to be tightly knit...ngl I look forward to the chaos of the entire family being more involved in each other's lives.

I think watching part 2 does make watching part 1 feel more special. Because they are so different! It really is almost like a return to the light. It was the surface of the issues. But in the society the only way for things to get real is for them to get serious. It's a lot in the back half. 😂

I think next season will be Eloise's season. They'll introduce Sophie via the masquerade ball and set up his story but I think it'll be Eloise's season and Marina passes away off screen and it's mentioned at the beginning of season 4. Benedict will search for Sophie throughout the season and likely find her at the end and he'll be the lead for S5. My hopes anyway. 😊

I do think the season is much more cohesive if you watch part 1&2 together. I think the issues Colin is working through felt much more drawn that they really were because of the mid-season split. It's much easier to see both Pen and Colin's growth through their love of each other when you watch it all together. Definitely watch it again! It's so much better on rewatch.

I got weepy as well at the end, the happily ever after for Penelope and Colin. I think it's going to be Benedict's season as well, because he meets his person at a masquerade ball. This will give Eloise time to figure out her next moves, ie., she starts writing Sir Phillip after Marina dies. This takes place after Penelope and Colin's wedding. As for Francesca, Michaela in place of Michael, this was different from what I was expecting, not only for the gender swap, but in the book, Michael was the one who fell for Francesca right away. In this scene it seems Francesca was the one who fell first.

Cressida makes a perfect foil to the issues explored herein. She is the one who has less of an idea of how to be a friend than Eloise, whose mother is nowhere near as supportive as Portia Featherington, whose father sadly is alive and a gnawing open wound in his daughter's life. She is a very tragic figure, but in the end must face up to her own responsibilities. She is capable of growth. We can hope it will yet happen. But meanwhile she is the dark mirror of the rest of the cast, on practically every single level. Benedict's story is being set up, and again is a counter-point to Polin. He is secret living and enjoying the life Colin pretended to have/want. But sans teh toxcity. Colin wanted what Benedict does not yet desire. Colin has longed for connection his entire life. To be sure, Benedict's is the least fascinating of the subplots, but it fits. It isn't about sex. Colin doesn't want intimacy unless it is FULL SPECTRUM intimacy. He longs for Penelope, clearly. But what lies between them needs to be resolved. And btw--all her letters to him. He still HAS them? In a special place? Wow. Think about that for a second or three...! Do you see how deeply Colin NEEDED to hear those words Penelope spoke? I will never hear the word "BUGS" the same way... I think Benedict is very much the subject of Season 4. But Francesca's story has been set up in interesting ways. As well as Eloise.

I think he arc wasn’t totally about becoming a good person, but rather to show the audience that she is a flawed person in a flawed culture.
