Bridge Creek to Kangaroo Pass Route

August 3-4, 2022. Chelan and Okanogan Counties, Washington.
The original intent was to do a loop trip; parking at Bridge Creek trailhead, walking or hitchhiking to the hairpin corner east of Washington Pass, then going up to near Kangaroo Pass and climbing cross-country south over the ridge towards Copper Pass, exploring around Stiletto Peak, eventually returning via trail leading to Fireweed Camp and back up the PCT to Bridge Creek.
That didn't work out. But still I enjoyed the exploration. The mountain goat that charged me at my camp near Kangaroo Pass, I would've rather not had that experience, but I'm glad that the outcome was good.

Not sure how to properly express just how much my wife and I LOVE you're videos! We hike/backpack throughout the North Cascades and can relate to so much of what you do. Keep it up, it is VERY worthwhile! And, of course, thank you! And, yeah, ran into some goats in the Teanaway area once who basically told me "you ain't passin' thru here, pal".

I am coming to the conclusion based on this experience and also anecdotal testimony that mountain goats are more dangerous than bears.

The kid may have been a factor. But she came up to me with her kid following her, I was minding my own business in camp trying to get some dinner. If she was being protective she shouldn't have come up to me? I'm thinking she is habituated to food (maybe even some dumb human fed her) and salt sources (human pee is a big attractant to goats, deer, other animals such as marmots and porcupines lol) at this campsite, and has a territorial attitude about it. .

A bit of extra excitement in this trip! Wow, the nanny goat was very persistent and aggressive with you! Too bad, but good thing you had your bear spray… and some rocks- Yikes! I’ve driven the road there many times and looked up that drainage, I think you went up the one right near Liberty Bell … nice exploring … too bad you weren’t quite where you wanted to be to complete the trip. The rock and bolder fields looked very loose - quite challenging. How heavy was your pack with all your gear? I’m pretty sure it would be difficult even with a day pack, but with a heavier pack makes it all the more challenging. Great that you went home safe and can try again sometime. Thanks for sharing your adventure!! 😄👍🏔🏔🥾🥾⭐⭐⭐

Thank you for your hiking and backpacking videos, I really enjoy your content. I live in Oregon and I don't get as many opportunities as I'd like to hike in the Washington cascades. Do you have new videos coming out soon?

Thanks, knowing people enjoy watching makes it all worthwhile. I don't have any videos to publish right now but I hope to get out at least once overnight next month. I'm sure I will get some day trips in too. Sometimes I go a while between videos (especially in winter), but it is always my intent to do more sooner or later.

Well Art I got see you sweat and see what you had in mind. I never figured you to be a goat whisper. Ha Ha HA. My three backpack trips in July were pretty much a no go so don't feel bad we're both sinking in the same boat.

I don't mind showing my turn-arounds, because I think it is important for backcountry travelers to understand that they should set limits at which point they should abandon the objective, depending not only on how the actual route is but also other conditions such as weather, snow, blowdowns/deadfall, equipment, dangerous animals, etc.

@@MrArtudtoo I think tv land has put a lot of pressure on people because they don't show the problems. I would rather watch you make an attempt and fail than a slick run production that never shows the true reality. Trips out in the real wilderness can be very dynamic real quick like. Like you just embrace the fact that going home sometimes is the best choice. Tomorrow is another day and another opportunity to achieve your goal.
