17:23 "Your wife died of multiple contusions to the head." "No-" " *From* a blunt instrument!" "No!-" " *MULTIPLE BLOWS TO THE HEAD!* " "SHE FELL!" "HA! She fell, did she?" Damn, Jeffrey is brutal when confronting evil bastards.

Jeffrey Combs is just so goddamn compelling in any role. West can do any number of dumb or disturbing things, and I'm still completely enthralled.

18:09 The original story, by H.P. Lovecraft clearly made a point about fresh corpses being much better candidates for reanimation than people who have been dead for a longer amount of time. Thus, it would make sense for Herbert West to reanimate him immediately, regardless of the fact he's an antagonist. Furthermore, in a possible future where no none stays dead anymore, you are bound to have countless immortal enemies for all of eternity, anyway, so you might just as well start now with whatever subject you have at hand.

So I was looking for some Lovecraft related movies and stumbled on your channel. Great stuff. I'd also like to suggest other Lovecraft-esque films you can take a swing at. There're recent movies like The Void and Annihilation. There're the more popular ones like Alien (and the recent prequels) and Hellraiser. And there're the straight up weird/arthouse horror flicks like Possesion. So I hope you keep this series going. It's quite fun!

I actually saw Bride of Re-Animator first and wondered how much that had to do with me liking it more than the first. I really like how they're both rather batshit insane at this point. It kind of suspends your disbelief for the whole film as you don't feel the need to compare the duo to what a 'real person' would do.

im not sure about that story mainly because its pretty damn long especially compared to thing like the outsider but also i wouldn't want to do a story with multiple characters, cause it would sound silly if I did different voices, but never say never, might have a way round it, so watch this space.

If you want what I would consider a better interpretation of Herbert west. Checkout out. Our fair city. It is an audio drama with Herbert being part of the main cast of characters. It has a total of 8 seasons and is currently running a mini series based around Herbert's adventures before coming to our fair city.

When you were talking about "Checks and balances to make sure bodies aren't like a meat market" or something like that. It reminded me of back in college where I went to visit a classmate's house who was working on a project with me. His name was Dathon. (Not really, but it started with a D) and he earned the nickname Demented Dathon from dark personality and clothing and hair I suppose. For instance, his favorite shirt, and one he wore to school most days of the week was a black T-shirt depicting Jesus on a cross with his chest and abdomen cut open and guts and innards spilling onto the ground. (The cool thing about art school is the preps and jocks are the minority and everyone else are the weird quiet ones, which aren't so quiet when you put us all together like that.) Here's where it relates to your body part comment. I was at his house and met his girlfriend and became the first and maybe the only guy in school that he told he was a Pagan too. (Because he said he doesn't normally tell people because he doesn't like arguing, but I'm not religious and never have been so I guess that made him feel comfortable?) I learned quite a bit about him and Paganism that night and at one point he grabbed a skull from his bookshelf and handed me saying "Check this out". I was holding it thinking it was probably the most authentic looking skull I've ever seen and I was trying to find a "Made in ...." somewhere on it when he goes "Yeah, it's a real human skull." At which point I realized why I couldn't find anything that looked fake about it and instantly had it at arm's length going "That explains why it looks so real, how did you even? I... Might not want to know actually" But someone in Paganism might become a mortician and it's not a far leap for someone to who has access to religious items to juse them. I'll say that to not have things get back to anyone. But the person who once possessed the skull died over a century ago and the skull itself has been passed around the world from Pagan to Pagan until he finds someone he feels he can pass it on to. Oh, and his girlfriend was a mortician. Which reminds me of another friend and classmate who was working at a funeral home at the time. He lived on the upper floor of the funeral home which meant when we hung out or partied we were the only living people around at night. There weren't body's around or anything and we would only use a room for watching video wills. As tempting as it was to wander, I didn't want to get him in trouble. His job was to move bodies from where they were found to the funeral home there and he took a pitcher of a body that was pulled out of the Mississippi and had been there for some time. I don't know how long but the guy didn't look real at all. Which is why he took the picture. He was weirded out by how fake it looked and felt so he took a picture when he was alone with it. (And the body was right downstairs at the time too, this was back in the Polaroid days and he didn't invite us to look but we didn't ask either) But if you saw it you might comment on how cheezy the makeup was and how obviously fake it was. But in reality, nobody wants to actually see something like that for real on TV. Not if you have empathy anyway. I've got to see my whole family so far, except my Mom. But that's also why I'm taking care of her too. I do have a couple half sisters but one's in Ireland and the other's here in body but not in mind. (I could write a book about her but nobody would like the protagonist)

West wanted to reanimate the cop cause he had never reanimated a body that fresh before. His theory was that the fresher the body was the more it was likely to retain a lot of cognitive function therefore resulting in a better reanimation. Granted he had already confirmed that with Dr.Hill in the first movie, but I understand why he would want to test that more. So much so he even forgot to restrain the cop before reanimating him

I’ll be honest I’ve watched most of your reviews but have avoided anything that has Lovecraft on it as I’m not a fan of how much attention he gets. However the lure of Jeffrey Coombs was too much for me to avoid I think he’s one of the most talented yet underrated actors around. He never over plays any part always producing subtle performances with the most insane characters making them even more creepy.

It's the ballet feet that get me. They would not be beautiful feet. They would be mangled and calloused and have huge bunions. Ballet dancing is beautiful, but it does horrific things to a person's feet.

Funny thing about amniotic fluid I learned when my wife was pregnant: it's baby pee. It doesn't get flushed out, so the uterus just fills up with baby pee.

  • @deusdeaconReviews

Well I'm not sure who told you that but thats an incredibly over simplified explanation, the amniotic fluid does contain urea and the foetus does urinate into the amniotic fluid but it has way more then just urine "proteins, carbohydrates, lipids and phospholipids" to just name a few things "all of which aid in the growth of the fetus."

@@deusdeaconReviews That is what the nurse running the birthing classes told us, but, given the overall quality of those classes, I wouldn't be surprised that she didn't get that 100% correct. Also, I'm not going to lie, I really didn't expect you to responded so quickly and authoritatively to a comment about amniotic fluid on a relatively old video. Seriously, though, I found your reviews yesterday and am a little upset that the KZread algorithm hid them from me for so long. Good work!
