The sister actually looked better in purple. The orange did nothing for her.

I think the sister may have a thing for her sister's groom. She wasn't even concerned about her own sister as much as for what the groom wanted. Doesn't sound right to me. I'm glad the bride finally got her way and her opinion is what matters most.

True. Orange, like yellow, is not a good color for many people and is ghastly paired with a fake tan and *purple* eye shadow. However, just about anyone can look good in purple or blue tones. Why this self-absorbed sister would choose to look like a pumpkin to appease the groom rather than consider the far more flattering purple and please baby sister is beyond me. 🙄

I am a male and i watched this show almost 3 days and i learned that girls have an emotional connection with their wedding dress we should support and like their choice because its their most important day in life if they love the dress we should also love it and i will love and respect the dress of my future wife which she will select

I'm wondering if there's some jealousy going on too. Older sister is 8 years older than bride, and if bride is getting married before older sister, I could see jealously being a huge contributing factor in why she's pushing for orange over purple.

I had nearly the same reaction as Brandon when a bride ordered a wedding cake from me (about 25 years ago) and asked for purple, orange and yellow. Once I got over my preconceived notion, I made pansies on the cake and it was beautiful.

Thirty years ago we ordered purple flowers on our cake. The Baker REFUSED. We told him we'd prepay, we wouldn't blame him, etc. Cake turned out great. We came by a few weeks later to thank him, and what was in the window?? My cake!! The assistant said it was very popular, and the baker was taking ALL the credit.

Who here thought--within 60 seconds of understanding that the bridegroom wanted to incorporate the Clemson colors into the wedding garments--that the solution was to go with purple but have tiny touches of orange in the accessories? For example, discreet earrings that had tiny orange and purple crystals? Or maybe purple bouquets with bits of orange (which they kind of went with in the end). Those were my very first thoughts when the bride asked for purple and orange. And of course, the groomsmen could have the Clemson ties, or purple or discreetly patterned purple-and-orange ties. Seems like it took them a while to figure that out, though.

My favorite color is bright orange. My husband's favorite is purple. This is precisely how our home is decorated, with abundant purple and tiny pops of orange making a big statement here and there. People forget orange is a powerful color. I could rock a bright orange dress with my hair and skin tone and, most importantly, my love of orange. Most people can't and won't look good in photos because it's hard to hide how you really feel.

Nope. Nothing at all was wrong is orange color dresses. If they were so hideous, then fhey shouldn’t carry orange dresses in the store. Obviously others don’t think orange in a dress is so unacceptable. The orange colors they had on actually complemented them well and they could have just as easily had purple in the bouquets.

The sister is having a "i need to be the center of attention here no matter what" kinda moment.

BEING BORN FIRST...As the youngest, this comment just means "I need everything about me but I'm going to pretend it's out of love for you." Not everything is about the oldest and the oldest doesn't know 100% what's best.

purple & orange are literally complimentary colors... and WHY do they keep putting that first girl in these super-short dresses with skirts slit up to the crotch?!

Brandon is very talented and has a great sense of humor. He is a treasure.

I was a bridesmaid in a UVA alum wedding, so the grooms (yes, grooms) wanted blue and orange. Now I have dark hair and olive skin, so orange looks *fabulous* on me, but most skin tones look terrible in bright orange (especially if you're pale or blonde!) so I defended the bridesmaids' sartorial honor and told the grooms no. We wore blue instead. It looked awesome next to the orange flowers :-)

@@CrusifoxMedia I didn't even pick colors. I had 2 attendants and asked each to give me a list of colors. The only color in common was blue. Decision made. When we shopped for dresses, I let them pick what THEY wanted. I really didn't care. In fact, I didn't especially like their choice (I didn't hate it), but they are the ones who had to wear them.

I like how the bride actually stood up for herself because that orange was ghastly

If I ever get married, I do want the bridesmaid dresses to have *some* similarity. At the very least, I do want all one color. That said, women have different body types and needs. One may not like her legs and needs a long dress, while another may overheat in a longer dress. I am going to take their needs into consideration.

For a wedding that I was in, the bride gave us a list of colors to choose from and let us pick our own dresses. As long as they were long and one of the five colors she chose, she was happy. It worked out really well. No one stuck out and everyone was happy and comfortable.

In my wedding, I had two preteens, a size 2 gal, a plus size queen, and a Mama about to give birth in my bridal party. They all wore the same shade, but all dresses were different so as to flatter the variety of ladies involved. It worked well.

I thought that the bridesmaids' dresses were supposed to be similar in style to the bride's outfit (e.g.: long if the bride is wearing a gown, or short if the bride's dress is short). At least, that's how it USED to be.

At my brother's wedding, the bride picked dresses that suited her tall/willowy sisters and looked terrible on my sister & me (short &, shall we say, not willowy), but we didn't question it. At my sister's wedding, she decreed "anything pastel" (from our closets) and it worked FINE.

Looking at her wedding pics 10 years down the road it will be like OMG why didn’t someone stop me?!

If I was the mother during all of this, I would have shut that older sister down! Not your wedding!

The sister acts like she’s 20 years older than her. I can’t stand when bridesmaids don’t realize they’re not the bride!!

They shouldn't have kept asking the sister if she would the wear and basing it on her, either she wears the dress the bride likes or she's not in the wedding. It seems like the sister is in love with the groom though.

When you agree to be a bridesmaid you don't get a vote on the color, style or price of the dress. You have to accept that they are going to pick out the ugliest and most expensive dress there is. The bride will think they're pretty and will say I chose one that you can wear again. You know you won't wear it or those ugly matching shoes. But you should do it with a smile on your face because they are your friend.

But if they are your friend you should be able to talk about it. If it's too expensive for you or if it really doesn't suit, for example a pink dress if you are a redhead. It's supposed to be a friendship not a dictatorship.

The orange washes them all out, the pink looked so cute on her.

The fact that at the end the oldest sister said she adored her lil sister the bride. Made me smile. That was cute.

Everyone else is thinking she has a connection with the groom, but I think that SHE wants orange and is acting like the groom wants orange too in order to persuade the bride to go with HER choice. The bride said earlier that the groom wants any Clemson color, not exactly orange. So the sister wants to get orange and will use the groom to get it.

@Lara Jagger Normally, I would agree with you. But this is a wedding, not a table scape. The focus should be the bride (and the groom). Having so many strong colors together will bring all eyes to the bridesmaids and the bride, in white, won't even be noticed.

I think the bridesmaids are entitled to have more say if they are paying for their dress. In the UK the couple or the bride of grooms parents foot the bill. So that's different.

I might be reading too much into it but I felt like the sister cared a bit too much about what the groom wants. Made me think that perhaps she has feelings for her soon to be brother-in-law. It’s like she was more concerned about pleasing him and not her sister.

I just took it as she wanted the orange dresses for Clemson. Since the groom wanted any color associated with Clemson, she kept bringing up him to persuade the bride to go with the color SHE wanted. It was just a manipulation tactic IMO.

the orange is just too strong of a color for the bride's image of her wedding. but the flowers with the eggplant dress are exactly what they need to please both the bride and the groom

I have lived in South Carolina for 30 years and I hate it. The fierce loyalty to Clemson and University of South Carolina is beyond me. It's like a way of life around here.

A nice pale lilac with a bright almost clementine-coral red-orange is one of my favorite combinations, actually. Sparing with the orange and combined with black and something just off from white, I think it can be stunningly unique. Never a dark purple or true orange, though!!
