While I did not like the first dress, I think it's a shame she felt she was too old for it. If you prefer simple and classy, ok - but if you want a princess gown, get a princess gown, whether you're 21 or 61.

Actually, Ithink the dress she actually got was even more youthfull/playfull, so it is all a matter or perception. Good for her for getting it, although I fear she might have not, if someone have called it suited for younger brides. She looked beautifull.

I had a cirque veil on my wedding day and it was placed quite high since I had a high bun. When the blusher part was pulled over it hit right at my waist and cascaded over my shoulders. After it was pushed back, the layers just flowed down the back so beautifully. I actually didn’t take it off all day and night which most brides do but I couldn’t part with mine. It’s all in how the veil is cut! For all you ladies in America, the veil is from Anthropologie’s bridal line bhldn. I think it’s bhldn.com. No I’m not affiliated or anything lol but it is a beautiful veil!

David has his strengths, but with these bride's Randy or Auntie Gok would've been a much better guide. David lacks the kindness and practicality.

They don't. You couldn't make these dresses at these prices, you couldn't even buy the fabric. These dresses are all used, and have been donated to the charity shop by the brides who bought and wore them first. Then, the charity shop, having gotten the dresses for free, resells them at very low prices. So you're right, it is a wonderful service. But dresses of this quality aren't being, and _can't be_ manufactured at this price. Hence, you're lucky if you've a service like this in one of the charity shops near you.

alot of times "age appropriate" is misused and women dress themselves so old fearing someone will call them out for what they wear, just like the mum did unnecessarily. Dont let shallow ageist rules dictate what you wear.

The words "age inappropriate" should probably be reserved for babies not swallowing tiny toys and gradeschool youngsters not playing rated M horror video games. Not wedding dresses! Yikes!

In 2020, and with millennials refusing to spend extravagantly whether they can afford it or not, this show has changed. I'm proud of SYTTD for moving forward with us. $5,000 dresses are unrealistic for our current society.

Agreed 100%. I bought my dress pre-owned for about $400 (new it would have been $2100-$2700) and it already had a bustle added and was fitted to my measurements so didn't need any additional alterations. It was one of the best wedding decisions I made!

I loved the second bride's dress. Stunning, classy and no bling for a change. It makes a change to see something simple and the price! Far more within the range that most people can afford and want to spend.

I'm thinking the halter dress might have been Givenchy or something. That was heavy, Duchess Satin and exquisite, couture level tailoring. I dunno, but it was definitely next level.

She is the bride ... She should feel like a princess !! No bride should hear the things they are saying ...she is NOT to OLD for anything in the shop ... let her choose and be happy ..and feel like a PRINCESS , no matter her age ...and she is beautiful !!!

The grandma at the end was so lovely! It was most important to her, how the bride felt in the dress - "Her eyes are sparkling."

This is a “special” episode- they’re filming at at charity shop not the usual designer boutique (Oxfam is a charity and their charity shops are very common in the uk) I saw the episode you’re referring to, and it did annoy me too as there are definitely stunning dresses at that boutique for closer to the £1000 mark, I really annoys me when they don’t respect the brides budget... however, I also kind of felt that bride (and others in a similar financial position) were seriously looking in the wrong place for their wedding gown! She needed to go to a different store more in her price range which would have had equally beautiful gowns that are just a bit differently made to fit a different budget. You can definitely get an amazing wedding dress very cheap if you’re happy to compromise a bit, honestly more brides should be more open minded to buying second hand or from other places than just expensive bridal boutiques, especially if you have a more “typical” or average figure, so things tend to fit you easier. I’ve seen the most stunning brides in dresses that cost as little as £100. So, in this episode, since this is a actually a charity shop with a special wedding dress focus, the dresses are mostly second-hand used donated dresses, or new cheaply made dresses, or older dresses that stores can’t shift as they’re out of style, or with minor faults or were used frequently as sample or try on dresses etc... So not quite the same as buying a brand new designer dress in a top bridal boutique which comes with a higher price tag. Lots of brides donate their dress after their wedding so another lady can get their dream dress at a fraction of the cost. I donated my own wedding dress because I wanted someone else who couldn’t afford it to be able to enjoy the dress on her wedding day as much as I did, and what’s the point of it just sitting in a closet for years when it’s only been worn for a day.

These dresses are at a charity's shop - Oxfam is the charity. Most are used and donated; some are never worn samples.

The last dress looked so classy and beautiful on her.

I'm buying Oxfam sourced items for Christmas gifts this year. They don't just sell donated items, they also source items from artisans as part of supporting the community sustainably and ethically.

"You don't need to spend 5 grand on a dress to feel glamorous" well said! I got my dress for $175, ball gown. Day/pictures turned out fantastic and we were able to spend more on the cake LOL

You can never be too old or too young for the wedding dress YOU want. She looked beautiful in all of them. ☺️

Its a charity shop not the usual bridal salon.

I spent $300 on my wedding and 16 years later we’re still going strong.

The 2nd bride "I want to show that you don't need to have a £5000 dress to feel glamorous" also her with a Louis Vuitton bag 🥺😂😂

She might be someone who's big on cost-per-wear. I like nice things, but I would have a very hard time spending hella money on something I know I'll only wear once.

The bride is so beautiful she would literally look good in any dress

The two most sensible brides I have ever seen on this show! Both are stunning in thier gowns!

1) The simple dress with a halter is an easy Yes--it's perfectly stunning on her, & 250 pounds is an amazing price. (Still would have been overpriced at 3K retail.) 2) With larger breasts, I'd avoid strapless styles that tend to show a wrinkle of cleavage above each armpit. 3) Glad to see them showcasing budget clearance gowns for a change!

Grandma for Bride #2 was so sweet! Wish she were my relative.

I wasn't crazy about the dress that the first bride chose, but absolutely LOVE the dress that the second bride chose! Goes to show, that you can find fabulous dresses at a bargain. These are nearly new dresses at rock bottom prices. Wow!

I love this concept. I'd like to see more of the same type of thing. Some of those dresses were truly lovely, plus slightly out of the ordinary.

everytime someone says bargain now i think of "only £5 chicken burger...such a bargain, proper nice as well." LOL

Dress Nr.1 was one of the most beautiful pieces I have seen on this show - for 399, this is ludicrous!!!

Victoria looks absolutely perfect. The dress she chose suits her in its understated elegance.

I'm happy to watch there are brides who have the wisdom.

Victoria's dress was amazing...not just the price ...so simple and elegant and suited her very slender frame so well. Bargain!!😍

I loved both dresses they ended up with, absolutely loved them, but I’m not convinced the first one really loved hers. I hope I’m wrong!

I love simple dresses. A fancy veil with the simple dress makes her look like a sophisticated bride.

So I was in a second thinking.... "what on earth is Julia Robers doing on Say Yes to the Dress UK???" :D

She chose a very timeless stunning dress, I love it !!

Both brides look amazing! I like the way the staff help those who dont have a big budget but try thier best to get a dress for them as much as they would with the brides which have larger budgets!

I just love seeing budgets being respected and wow; stunning brides, dressing and prices!!

That "Audrey Hepburn" dress is absolutely stunning: the woman got such a bargain. Lovely looking material that seems to be well cut and sewn, and a little out of the ordinary. The first brides dress is very nice, but not that all that different to so many on these shows. The prices are absolutely unbelievable, especially since they are samples, and so new dresses.

When she said 500, and his face said it all like he's not happy.

I LOVE David Emmanuels' manners! He is just so kind, sweet and understanding!

loved that they showed a bride who wants to be "subtle" and not wanting all the attention on her...finally someone i can relate to lol

Really enjoyed this episode! I could so relate. I had an 800 dollar budget and found mine for 270 counting accessories I got with it! Able to use the other money to get my bridesmaids their dresses and had a little left over. It's so important to remember that the memories is what matters more than anything. Not one person asked me the cost of my dress. What matters is what makes YOU happy ❤️

I love how she is being practical and wise woman simple yet sophisticated and classy...

That halterneck dress she chose is everything!

Too 80s!

Fifteen years ago I spent $250 on a wedding dress that was simple, modest, and I felt beautiful in.

Not simple or plain, understated and elegant.

I wish we had shops like this in the U.S. So many amazing looks at prices people can actually afford. Not everyone can or wants to spend thousands on a dress they will wear once.

Consignment shops have low prices. That's where I got my wedding dress for $150. Yes, it was someone else's before, but I didn't mind that.

Though the brides have low budget.... I love that they're treated with the same respect and attention as high budget ones. 🤗

When I was trying on gowns, I was trying on gowns that were 1-3k. I wanted simpler, sleeker. My consultant kept trying to give me this ball gown that was only 400 dollars clearance. I finally gave in and tried on the big poofy ball gown that was on clearance and it was THE dress. Loved that dress.

I would buy one of these just to wander around town. I never had a chance for a wedding gown...for $100 or so, this would be next best thing.

Finally, brides that don't want to spend thousands on a dress that will only be worn once. That second dress was stunning.

I haven't watched SYTTD in a long time, and surprised but happy to see low-budget dresses. Why waste $$ if one can find a lower priced dress?
