At age 69, my life is nearly over due to stage 4 cancer. I can sum up this life of mine pretty succinctly- This is THE best trip I’ve ever been on, thanks in large part to the genius of Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, and the rest of The Beach Boys. Thanks, guys. You made it such a joy. God bless you all.

Brian seems to be one of those musicians who lets his music do the talking. Maybe a little more confusing because he's a vocalist, lyricist, and songwriter, all involving words. When he's in an interview situation or just trying to come up with an alternate version in conversation, you realize that whatever he has, it's in the music. Comparing his everyday talking and describing vs his music is like comparing the travel of the caterpillar vs the butterfly.

It was a real thrill to get close to the stage during the "dance concerts" in the early to mid 1970s at the Spectrum Theater in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. I borrowed this from another subscriber and really liked it: Everyone who reads this, we don't know each other and probably never will, but I wish you all the best in life and all the luck in the world.

Mike was the ultimate entertainer. With his voice, he was not the lead singer by chance. If he hadn't been the Wilsons' cousin, who knows how he would have ended up. Brian with a beautiful voice and huge range before he almost destroyed himself, Al with a fantastic voice and then Carl who handled the highs amazingly. But on the highest notes and falsettos, Brian discovered Bruce, who basically replaced him in these positions. Mike didn't excel at anything.

I praise God for creating each of the "Beach Boys." Such individuals, yet they learned how to work with and relate to each other in wonderful ways. Our family members are great fans, and though only my husband & I originally heard them as teens, we're now in our 70s and our 5 kids (all in their 40s) love the Beach Boys as much as we do! May Jesus Christ bless and keep their families.

Music is dreamy, etherial and good. Johnny, do not allow music to take over the life. Music can be an addiction for perfection so be mindful of this love/addiction. Get out and do something rather crazy like learning to play golf. I am not kidding. We musicians are inherently kinda nurdly so we need a kinda mellow activity like the game of golf whereas we 'measure everything' so we can succeed in a non-music activity. Or whatever physical activity to get us out and about!

Still so very beautiful after all of these years. My late mother Shirley and late Uncle Ozzie, both loved this adaptation and version of this most incredible Folk Song. While it was not a Beach Boys original, it surely has become a mainstay of the The Beach Boys legacy and found its way onto the legendary Pet Sounds, despite not thematically belonging to the album via its subject matter, it certainly fits musically in its style and is and continues to be a very special part of what has made the Beach Boys one of the finest groups of all time and certainly the popular era. Brian Wilson's mind, when it comes to music, works like no one else's. The man was just brilliant when they were churning out hit after hit.

I just saw your post, Garry, and I have had Breast Cancer twice, and am 62 years old, and just wanted to let you know that we at my house all care about what you are going through. I actually listened to the Beach Boys while I healed up after my 7 hour surgery, and they brought me such comfort, and joy in those moments, and made me feel 19 years old again (which I didn't think was possible in that moment. I hope you get good medical care, and comfort, and that you have good supportive folks around you, and God Bless You and your loved ones.

What a wonderful period of music we have lived through .... the rock and roll era! We are part of that history.
