This is a game changer, I'm buying for sure. Just want to acknowledge you for the clear and concise presentation and narrative, you've done a great job here--thank YOU. As I watch all the other videos, they make coffee-making (esp cupucinno and latte) into a nitpicking, no-ordinary, big-fuss, big hoohah and very complicated process. No, it's not intimidating, ANYONE with a reasonable IQ can master the coffee-making after 2-3 weeks, it's not rocket science. But many aficionado make it as if it is so refined, so artful, so extraordinary, so meticulous, so-grandios, so-big-deal process. I think coffee-making ought to be making a cup of coffee simply and consistently. If A.I. is taking over our repetitive jobs, then coffee making is already a robot's job. Man, the amount of hair-splitting tools and process--frankly makes it laughable--in fact ostentatiously pedantic. Maybe some people found their purpose in life to make a perfect cup of coffee, but they shouldn't make it as-if it's a study in making a particle accelerator. Thank you for this video. And I'm anticipating some people spitting at my face for my comments here.

Show me ONE other machine that wakes up morning, has 58mm portafilter, built in grinder, auto tamper, dual boiler, PID, auto steam with temp. meter. I can help you! There is NONE! This is the ONLY machine with all the features. What a job by Sage/Breville. Such a great machine. You can even set the dose by unscrewing the tamp head and adjusting it to a preferred height.

There's a third group - those of us who are interested in diving deeper into coffee but when you have the machine dialled-in you want a machine that gives you consistent results with a minimum of fuss. This is where the oracle really shines - you can spend hours messing with the settings, get your IMS baskets, your bottomless portafilters: then for the next few weeks it'll just keep making you great coffee until you want to change up the beans or something.

I own the Oracle Touch, which is the latest model. Its pretty much the same machine but with a touch screen. Its a very expensive coffee maker but if you buy the right beans and get the correct grind setting you will end up with absolute top notch coffee. If you want the best possible coffee with the least effort you should buy the Oracle (if you can afford it). I disagree though with the statement that you don’t have to dial in the grind. You do! Different beans has very different grind behavior. Also I have noticed a difference between grind setting when the hopper is full or almost empty. But you will learn.

  • @LifestyleLab_

You absolutely do have to dial in! Would never suggest otherwise, sorry if my phrasing came off that way. All I was inferring is that dialing in is far less of a struggle, as the dose and tamp are held very consistent, so all you need to worry about is grind

Absolutely loving this machine.

But I dont understand what is the point of having this machine then ? You basically only make things harder to adjust ? With a Barista Pro for example, changing the amount of coffee is very simple. So the way I see it, the only "variable" you remove with Oracle is the tamp pressure.

Hi, very good videos I really like your style of presenting. I have done a reasonable amount of resarch for the last couple of weeks regarding espresso brewing. I have also had a Barista Pro which I returned due to very varying coffee results. Basically, my wife (and partially myself) could not stand the fact that she needed to weigh the beans each time to get a good extraction. Which brings me to the point. The way I see the Oracle vs e.g. Barista Pro is that the Oracle removes the "tamp" pressure variable ONLY. Sure enough, the grind amount should be approx. the same each time, but that can also be said of the Barista Pro, both operate more or less on grind time. Anyway, it is possible to measure out the beans and grind fixed amount each time. That leads us to the time/volume factor. The Barista Pro is a volumetric machine, which means that in theory, given identical pressure loss through the puck, same amount of volume should be extracted. So you just measure the time in order to get a good tasting coffee and adjust grind settings accordingly. On the Oracle, the time or volume can be set. Lets say for arguments sake that we set the extraction time, this means that if we do not grind correct we will miss the 1:2 ratio. And we need to adjust the grind settings. So that is very similar to what we do with the "semi-automatic" machine like the Barista Pro. So basically, my question is : Is it really that much simpler to use? And is it really "super-automatic" machine ? I mean, lets face it, without dialing in, you will not get the full potential from the shot. As a matter of fact, with the Oracle you have less possibilities to adjust since it is difficult to adjust the dosage from the grinder which is more or less a fixed amount.

There is no "setting for light roasts", you need to dial in your coffee individually. They can vary drastically coffee to coffee and machine to machine. You really gain no functionality with the Touch, and MAYBE some ease of use, depending on your level of coffee knowledge. If money's truly no option, and you're a total beginner, go with the Touch. Otherwise, stick with the base Oracle, it's a great machine. (I use mine every single day)

The grinder pro is the same grinder as found in the Barista Express, Barista Pro, and Oracle. Therefore you will be getting the same quality. The Niche has far better grind consistency and texture, see my Niche Zero review for a direct comparison shot of the grinds next to one another!

The Oracle does not have a pressure gauge, but it does show a shot timer, which is a more accurate way of dialing in. Pressure gauges are nice to generally know you're building enough pressure, but you can get the same information from the flow rate of the shot. Not an issue at all :) Even my Appartamento doesn't have a pressure gauge!

There are two features, I wish this machine had: • Plumbable so I could don't have to empty drip tray and add water • A standard portafilter, I could purchase any random one such as a naked, yes you can probably buy one from Braville. • A naked portafilter, I would feel more confident at seeing the flow rates so dialing it in for different coffees would be faster and easier. I purchased this machine in 2015 - 2016ish and it stopped working in 2019 so I put it in storage until I had the time to deal with it. I took the machine in for a repair cost estimate which turned out to be 1000 dollars. The boilers leaked frying the electronics and and something else to do with the boiler. Since I was basically paying to have the machine completely rebuilt, I had them replace the pump as well so it would be all new inside for almost 1100 dollars. Below are the key features and why I decided to pay to have it repaired vs buying a different. Seattle Coffee Gear is where I purchased the machine and where I took it for repair. I just got it going again this last Monday. • The tech said he had never seen boilers leak on these machines, so is not common • Built in grinder that is very good, no need to have a second device to grind coffee. A good seperate grinder costs and easy 500+ to beat the one in this machine. • Easy to change grind coarse vs fine. Manual suggests starting at 30, I use somewhere between 26 and 30 depending on coffee. • Tamp pressure is easily adjustable as is the number of seconds it applies the tamp pressure. • You can choose between volumetric and timed shot pulls. • Between adjusting grind coarseness, tamp pressure, and tamp length in seconds, volumetric, and timed shots, the machine can be dialed in to pull a perfect shot from any roast. • Dual boilers, allows you to steam milk while pulling a shot. It is not easy • Less mess to cleanup with this machine both grinding and tamping. It does come with a knock box although for parties. This Braville steam's milk in about 40 seconds to 145 degrees while the GS3 in about 14 seconds in the GS3. If I buy another machine, I will not buy this one again because I already have it, I would probably buy a La Marzocco GS3 (single group).
