Crystals are used for many different spiritual practices. There are many different types with different metaphysical properties. The ‘hype’ is just people like collecting different things. Crystals just happened to be one of the popular things to collect.

@Mandi J I actually Googled it and it seems like a very spiritual practice. Calling it "hype" feels somewhat disrespectful now that I've read up on it. It helps and has helped so many, guides them, etc. Mmmhhh It's interesting.
