In Power Slap, wouldn't the reach advantage be in favor of the fighter with the shorter arms? Like a figure skater, the tighter you are, the faster you rotate. To me, the ideal Slap fighter is a short stocky guy. Low center of gravity with high speed rotation.

The stepping rules don't allow you to turn your body very far. But even without those rules, the turn comes from the legs and hips.

@@jaehwan123 Right, but arm still needs to come around and further from the pivot point, the slower the rotation. Exactly like figure skating. So it makes sense to have a shorter arm as this brings the hand closer to the pivot point (the hips) and assuming the exact same swing technique, an increase in speed would occur. Meaning the true reach advantage in slap fighting would be the reverse of what it is in MMA/Boxing

@@burgerland5754 ​ The rotation in figure skating also comes mostly from the legs and hips. What you'll see is that skaters will move, rotate, and jump. Skaters pull their arms in once they're spinning, and they speed up. Because angular momentum (L=mvr) is conserved, they rotate faster. They don't gain force in midair; they just rotate faster because the decrease in radius is directly proportional to the increase in speed. (angular momentum L stays the same.) This sport is a little different since the slappers aren't allowed to jump and spin. I think taller slappers have an advantage, but I think it probably comes mostly from the fact that their shoulders and hips are closer to their opponents' faces.

@@jaehwan123 Slap fighters pivot point is the hips. A shorter reach means the hand is closer to the pivot point, thus greater speed. As a result, the "reach advantage" works in reverse. The shorter the reach, the greater the advantage.

@@burgerland5754 I don't think a shorter reach means greater speed. If anything, it would be the opposite, the same way the surface of a bicycle tire moves faster than one of the inside gears. Of course power isn't determined only by speed. I do agree that the distance between the target and the pivot point would result in more power. But I would think that the advantage lies with the taller man, since his hip is closer to his opponent's head and he would be slapping at a more advantageous angle.
